Wu woke up, he found out he was lying in a clinic. The doctor stood beside his bed, disinfecting the scissors and tweezers. Shuai (short for Jiang Xiao Shuai) twisted his head after hearing him stirring on the bed, flashing his front set of teeth with a broad smile.
'You're awake?' Wu thought that this doctor was quite good-looking. 'Who sent me here?'
Shuai spoke as he rearranged the tools on the table, 'Your girlfriend found two men to carry you here. She even cautioned me to use the cheapest medicine available, best if reimbursable.
Wu smiled, 'She knows me the best.'
Shuai's expression stagnated for a split second, then his lips showed an undistinguishable smirk. He walked to the front of Wu, handing him a glass of water, 'Eat your medicine first.'
After consuming his medicine, he asked hurriedly,' Where is my girlfriend?'
'She left early. After I cleaned up your wound, she left. For about three or four hours now. Wait, how did you even get this wound on your head?'
'Brick' Wu said rather proudly. 'You fought with someone?'
'No, my girlfriend was breaking up with me and I wanted to show her my true colors.'
This was Shuai's first time hearing someone who wanted to show his true colors, by banging a solid brick on his head.
Is it worth it?' Shuai ridiculed.
Wu didn't reply to his question, he took his phone and dialed Yue Yue's number. Are you still breaking up with me?' The other side was silent for a moment before saying, 'Focus on your recovery, let your body recover first.' Putting down his phone, Wu had a satisfied smile on his face, flashing his phone towards Shuai. 'She said it, she's not breaking up with me for the time being. Worth it you say? Of course!' Shuai hid the sarcastic vibes behind a friendly smile. 'Doc, how long I have to wait before my wound heals completely?' At least two months.' 'Two months?' Wu mumbled bitterly, 'How much money I have to spend...'
The sky became dark outside. There's on Wu and Shuai left in the clinic, Wu has an IV bag attached to his arm while the other was playing Zuma on his phone. Shuai stood beside him, seeing him playing like a two-year-old. He was shooting balls with random colors all around, he lost after a while but still continued to play with a strong determination.
'May I say...' Shuai coughed, 'You could still play when your head is in this state?'
'It's too boring here. I have this only game on my phone, but I can't seem to clear this level.'
A hint of mockery surfaced from Shuai's delicate face, 'You're playing blindly, how could you possibly clear?' 'I'm not playing blindly, I did follow the rules!' Shuai observed at the side for some time before realizing something, and asked, Are you color blind?' 'Nope, I can differentiate colors.' Shuai felt something is amiss, he made Wu paused the game and pointed at a red ball, 'What color is this?' 'Yellow.' Wu replied earnestly. Shuai pointed at a green ball this time, 'What about this?' 'Yellow too.' 'This?' asked Shuai, pointing at a purple ball. Wu replied surely, 'Blue.' Shuai couldn't help laughing and gave him a pat on his shoulder.
'Bro, you are color blind. Give up, you wouldn't clear this level even after playing for a thousand years.'
Wu didn't give a single shit and said, 'Nevermind, just make it as an eye practice.'
Shuai thought this guy is rather interesting, he kept on chatting with him.
'Hey, why did she break up with you?'
Wu twitched his lips, 'She says I'm fat.'
After saying, he gave Shuai his wallet, there's a photo of him and Yue Yue when they were freshmen. He was almost 50 pounds lighter than he is now.
Shuai looked at the photo, feeling pitiful for Wu.
'Your situation is not looking good. He's way better looking than you, I think, he suits your girlfriend better. You can give up.'
'Hey, hey! What nonsense are you spouting?' Wu said loathly.
Shuai said with a straight face, 'I'm just stating the facts.'
'What do you know? This is me!' he pointed at him and then on the photo.
Shuai snatched back the photo with a face full of disbelief. After looking at the photo and then Wu more closely, he realized they both really looked quite similar. Shuai suddenly understood why she wanted to break up with him, no one could accept this huge difference!
'Bro, you better start losing some weight from now on. You looked so bright with the huge pair of eyes and full brows of yours, but now you look dull even with that same pair of eyes.'
Wu rolled his eyes, 'Really?'
'What for I lie to you? You have to change your diet when you're recovering, so might as well try to lose some weight.'
Two months quickly flew past. The wound on his head managed to heal completely, without leaving anything scars behind. After obeying Shuai's advice, Wu did go for a vegan diet during this period of time. He shrank by almost 20 pounds, looking beyond fine as compared when he first came. Wu felt himself taking lighter steps, so he bought two boxes of cigarette to the clinic as a gift for Shuai.
'For exchanging with two months worth of medicine, I'm kind of reluctant to leave now.'
Shuai smiled light-heartedly, 'Look what you're saying. If you really can't leave me behind, hit your head again and we can see each other every day.'
'Hahaha...'
Wu smiled as he waved to Shuai, walking out of the clinic swiftly.
