Adventurer. Every transmigrated MC that I had ever longed to be was an adventurer!
Adventurers were given all of those jobs which ordinary people couldn't do themselves, from harvesting rare plants found in dangerous places to subjugating miasma contaminated monsters.... they were allowed the freedom to move between cities, and even countries without any questions as long as they possessed their guild issued adventurer ID.
This was because the guild was a neutral organisation which didn't participate in politics instead providing equal assistance to all....those registered under it, the adventurers, were to an extent free from political control. Of course adventurers had to follow the guidelines put forth by the guild but as long as they did that, they enjoyed these benefits in full.
It was basically my dream job.
'Fighting monsters, travelling all over the world, a life full of adventure! And most of all, I'd be Free! I can't wait!!'
All I needed to do was register in a guild, and I'd be good to go!
Just when I was beginning to get hyped up, it hit me that I knew next to nothing about the magic and monsters in this world....I needed to know more in order to actually be prepared for whatever came....
'....I can't exactly die a second time just because I was over excited now can I?....that would be kind of lame after everything that's happened....'
Deciding that I'd go through the information on adventurers later, I looked through the information on monsters first.
The monsters or magical beasts in this world don't have much intelligence, so in a sense they are similar to animals from my world. The only difference being that monsters outnumber people 10 to 1.
They are the main source of food and other products.
Also, unlike in the books I read, Not all monsters are bad. Generally, a monster wouldn't attack you unless you trespassed on it's territory or did something to provoke it.
However monsters corrupted by miasma lose their sense of restraint and attack other monsters and humans alike, indiscriminately.
Monsters also had rankings in term of their magical power/ mana, with F being the least and S being the most dangerous.
Monsters of rank S required an entire army to deal with them. However the size of said army needed would be smaller if high ranked adventurers were included.
That's right, adventurers also had ranks, from E to S, but let's leave that for another time.
The reason you needed multiple people to subjugate a strong monster was because the amount of magic power they posses was always a multiple of that of an adventurer of the same rank....
Monsters from B rank above in particular showed this sort of trend. Thus, A party of adventurers with an average rank of B would be able to subjugate a B ranked monster, but the same couldn't be said for a single B ranked adventurer.
'....so that's why adventurers generally form parties....let's remember that for later.'
Coming to magic,
All The people in this world, irrespective of their job or status could use magic. The only thing setting normal people apart from adventurers, knights, mages and the like, being the amount of mana they could use and the number of elements they could control.
Also, it seemed except for those who possessed status magic (....really? My status window is a form of magic?....so not everyone has it?) or the skill Analysis like I did, it was nearly impossible to accurately tell the difference in mana levels.
'By the way....turns out the maximum amongst normal people is up to 10000 MP (mana points). Knights specialising in magic could have up to 100,000 MP and Adventurers can be anywhere between 100,000 to 200,000. The higher bracket of the previous range being for mages in particular.'
I sweat drop at that...
'....yet I have 1,000,000....that's atleast 5 times stronger than the strongest mage!!! What's with that?! Not that I want to, but I could probably invade a country by myself!! Seriously!'
I sigh in exasperation before continuing to look through the information.
It seemed that The average magic power of an S ranked adventurer however was unknown because unless you were of the same level or higher, you wouldn't be able to see the MP of that person. So none had tried.
Though that didn't really help much because, considering the number of zeroes in the row for my MP, there was almost no doubt I'd have more than even they did.
'Well, not like we can do anything about the extremely OP stats...let's just move on.'
There were 4 main elements in this world: air, water, earth and fire.
Additionally there were two special elements: light and shadow.
The special elements in addition to being used in spells, could also be used to perform summoning magic. Using light would help summon a spiritual beast, while using shadow would summon a demonic beast.
If you had the skill, you could even combine these elements randomly to give rise to other forms of magic.
There were also species specific magics. These were generally inherited through genetics...for example certain species could use healing magic....though this was only limited to elves and Beastmen, the races which possessed high affinity for magic.
Humans could not use this magic as they did not have as much affinity for magic as elves and Beastmen. They couldn't pass down special magics through their genetics...Hence they relied on magical artefacts and products derived from monsters or magical plants to make up for this.
'That would also explain the technological advancement...they make up for their weaknesses....just like back in my world.'
I reminisce for a moment, but then another question pops into my head now that I've gone through most of the general knowledge and common sense of this world.
It was something I'd completely forgotten about...
'....Who am I?'
