Chapter 6 - The Fairy

A little fairy, both small and sweet,

Locked away for his powers, and wisdom you see.

He was treated like a commodity,

Much to his defeat.

So long he lie in his gilded cage,

Where people stole his power throughout his age.

As life passed him by, he dwindled in spirit,

And shouted cries, but no one would hear it.

Left alone, strength all sapped,

He finally had enough and eventually snapped.

People were cruel and he'd make them pay,

For far too long his voice had been taken away.

So with this thought he plotted his escape,

Tonight, tonight is when he will leave the estate.

Through the halls and out the back door,

To the forest and beyond the moor.

Surrounded by trees he stood,

Tall and proud but without a sound.

It was time for this all to end,

He must take revenge, before he could ascend.

Straight to mother nature, from where he drew power,

As time struck the witching hour.

It was then that he spoke his curse,

" In storm and fire the earth shall burst,

For at tonight's end the world will be at its worst,

The ground will break and swallow you in,

As you and others have deigned to sin,

The poor fairy, you trapped in your midst,

Will reset your life from what it was, to what it is,

Let nothingness take your soul,

For the fairy's soul you stole was pure as gold,

To each of you an endless death,

As the earth takes back that which you left ".

And with his final word, the fairy flew towards the sky,

To where he knew he couldn't harm a fly.

Above the clouds and into a land,

Far away from any danger at hand.

And so he looks out across forgotten peaks,

To be left alone for eternity so to speak.

At peace and alone he lived his life,

Coming to his end without strife.

For this little fairy had done his part,

He managed to live with just as much heart.

For he had had his revenge and a new start,

Away from the gilded cage and into the open,

He had the last laugh with his power so to say,

It was on this day that mother nature has spoken.

Little fairy though he was,

It did him good to end like the rest of us.
