Corinne gasped. So was that the real reason why Luna married President Li? After all, knowing her friend, Luna would have walked away and left, raising the child alone without informing anyone about it.
"How far along?" she asked. While Luna's abdomen hadn't shown any signs of her pregnancy, Corinne knew better. So all that exhaustion and sleepiness Luna endured from the past days had been caused by her pregnancy. Where would this leave her?
"About eight weeks or so," Luna grumbled. "I'm here to tell you I'm leaving. President Li wants me to move in his place right away," she added.
"But what about your job? Are you still going to work for him, or did he also tell you to resign from your post and focus on your child?"
Luna ran both of her hands on her face in frustration. They hadn't really talked about their plans for the future. Of course, with her being pregnant, she supposed that Hero Li would agree if she told him she had to resign from work and look after Amber and their unborn child. But was it really that easy?
"I suppose I have to resign before people start noticing my baby bump. I also don't like how Sienna is keeping tracks on me."
Her friend etched a deep frown. "Why would she do that? I thought Sienna doesn't like you."
Luna lifted her cup and sipped the warm tea from it. "She's making sure her enemy is at bay and not trying to conspire against her."
Corrine scoffed. Sienna was such a paranoid bitch then.
"Conspire? Wasn't she the one who's trying to offend you all this time? I swear Luna, I don't understand how could you attract bimbos and scheming bitches. Is there some kind of invisible warning on your forehead that says 'Hey bitches, try to poke on my business and piss me big time.' " She then made a move with her fingers, drawing an invisible tag in the air.
Luna laughed at her friend's antics. Oh, it's surely been a while since she last laughed and smiled happily. With her problems coming left and right, she barely had time to find amusement for herself.
"Oh, Corinne. You are so funny. Maybe they are just bored with their lives and wanted what I have."
"But still, it's unfair—don't you think! You've never done anything wrong against them. Why are they doing this to you?"
Luna shrugged and stood up on her seat. She couldn't stay for too long. Hero and Amber were waiting for her.
"It's always like that, Corinne. Some people are just envious and always want what they couldn't have. I really have to go. My new husband is waiting for me downstairs. I wouldn't like to argue with him later."
"Alright. Pack your things then. I'll go and explain it to Mia. We both know she wouldn't like this." Corinne agreed before leaving Luna at the kitchen and went to her young daughter.
Luna sauntered towards the guest room, pulled out her clothes, and threw it in her luggage. Fortunately, most of her things had been sold, and she only needed to keep a handful of her personal things and her dog, Fluffy. She then heard Mia crying from the living room while Corinne explained to the girl that Luna had to go.
"I can't play with Aunty Luna and Fluffy anymore?" she heard Mia asked Corinne when she closed the door of the guest room and walked back to where the mother and the daughter were.
"Of course, you can still play with me and Fluffy. We will still visit you from time to time," Luna answered for her friend. Mia had been a good girl and was her stress reliever since she stayed living with them. But now that she had her own family to look after, Mia would have to understand that Luna could not stay with them anymore.
Luna wiped the tears off of Mia's cheeks and give her a kiss on her forehead.
"Be a good girl, okay? Aunty Luna will still call you every night to check on you so you better behave."
The girl sniffled and nodded. "Promise me, you will visit me soon." She demanded while offering her pinky finger for a promise. Luna smiled and hooked her pinky with Mia's to make a pinky promise.
"Aunty Luna promise she wouldn't forget to visit her favorite godchild." She beamed.
Luna wondered if Little Amber would like it if she introduced Mia to her. Would they get along?
