Chapter 8 - Mistaken

When she was done taking a bath and fixing herself, she went out of the bathroom and saw the handsome stranger sitting at the edge of the bed, staring out of the full-sized window while puffing a cigarette. Fortunately, he decided to cover his arousal with his black trousers, but his upper torso was kept bare with clearly defined muscles, spelling strength and stamina.

So manly and erotic that made Luna force herself to look away but failed.

He seemed deep in his thoughts that he didn't even notice that she was staring at him.

Luna struggled to even out her breathlessness as she looked at this man who she knew now so intimately.

She cleared her throat, intending to get his attention.

"I have to go …"

"You think you can just leave me like that?" Hero asked without turning his head in her direction.

Luna frowned. What did he mean by that? She should be the one complaining to him right now. Didn't he admit that he was aware while she was drunk when they did the deed? She succeeded in remembering their discussion before she answered him.

"I cannot be your woman. I'm already taken." Luna didn't like the way it sounded. It was like she was trying to convince herself that Jasper would still accept her after all.

Hearing what she said, Hero turned to her with a devilish smirk on his lips. That gorgeous smile seemed so natural on him, making her heart skip a beat in his presence. He was so sinfully handsome, and Luna wouldn't be surprised if women threw themselves on his path just to get his attention. Attention that she had right now.

"My darling. You cannot escape from me." He paused as his expression seemed to sharpen.

"Even so ..." Luna supposed she owed him some explanation, but it was really mortifying on her part. "I cannot be with you just because we had sex last night."

Yes, it was purely out of lust. She was sure that there was no love between them, so why was he insisting on making her his woman? She has nothing to offer. Heck, she wouldn't even believe if he claimed he was short in admirers and willing women.

"So you think Jasper Mo will still accept you?"

It directly hit her sore spot. Why was he doing this to her? Wait. How come he knew Jasper?

"You …" But Luna couldn't let the words out. How could she defend herself when what he'd said was the truth?

Hero looked at her intensely. His cold eyes looked straight into her hazel ones. Luna fearlessly held their eye contact. She couldn't allow him to intimidate her. He could not force her to be his woman.

He was really amused that this woman dared to defy him. His eyes then noticed the dress she was wearing beneath her coat.

"You were wearing that?" His eyes flared and began to shine with delight. She wasn't wearing a skimpy dress, and yet that dress was enough to emphasize her lovely curves and shapely legs.

He sauntered towards her, and Luna panicked. She saw the mischievous glint in his eyes and could see his muscles twitching as he came after her.

"Stop. Please let me go," she begged. No, she should not let him have her way with her. She wasn't that crazy to repeat that mistake that shouldn't have happened in the first place. She backed away until she hit the wall and couldn't escape his hovering stature.

"Look. I really should go. Let's pretend that this never happened." Luna steadfastly met his scrutinizing eyes. She kept her mental chant that she wouldn't fall for his charm.

"I told you, I'm not yet done with you, woman."

Her eyebrows shot upwards. Was he really serious?

"I can't believe you mistook me for him," Hero started. "He's at least six inches shorter than I am. His body couldn't even be compared to mine." He was annoyed. It was one thing that he couldn't accept.

That sounds very narcissistic, but Luna couldn't find in herself to disagree. Jasper and this handsome man were poles apart. Aside from the physical differences, this man was demanding and cold while her boyfriend was warm and understanding.

"You were lying on the bed. How am I supposed to know you aren't him?" she said through her gritted teeth.

Hero chuckled. This woman surely was something he'd never encountered before.
