Chapter 36 - Today Would Be a Great Day to Get Married

Hero knew that the doctor and Luna weren't joking when they said Luna was with child. This was so unexpected that neither of them thought it would happen. Just from one passionate night, they were able to conceive a baby.

Luna's eyes were glossy as she tried to ignore him again but failed. With the baby on the way, would Hero change his mind or would he still plan on trapping her in a loveless marriage?

"Why bother marrying me? You really don't have to." She broke the silence between them. Luckily, Little Amber fell asleep beside her for a quick nap.

"We must marry. You said it yourself. You are pregnant with my child. Another reason for me to marry you," Hero replied without batting an eyelid. It was like he couldn't be bothered if she was pregnant or not as long as she would marry him as part of the deal.

"I don't understand …"

"You don't have to," he said again, "You're carrying my child. I'll allow no child of mine to be born out of wedlock."

Luna tried to hide her flinch. She didn't want to think of her mother's disappointment. She tried not to believe that she slept with a stranger and got pregnant with his child.

What would Jasper think of this once he gets back? This wasn't her own fault anyway. Aiko tricked her that night so she ended up in Hero's bed instead.

"What about Amber and your family?" she murmured quietly.

"My family has no say in whom I'll get to marry. As for Amber,"—his gaze drifted to his sleeping child—"she was very dependent on you as you noticed. It wouldn't be too hard for her to adjust."

She nodded but didn't say anything more. The fact that he was intent in marrying her startled her. Such a possessive man that he was. She'd never been in a relationship before except for Jasper so her knowledge about dating was also limited.

"If you say so," she conceded, "but please don't forget that it's the part of our deal. We also should set some rules if we're going to get married."

She would never surrender herself to this man! He might be able to trap her and force her into marrying him, but he could never have her heart!

"Okay, then let's go now. We'll go check on your brother first and talk to the police officers. Let's get married when we pass by the Civil Registry Office later."

"Today?" Luna was surprised. He wanted to get married now? Couldn't he wait for another day?

"Yes, when else were you thinking?" Hero looked at her with a serious expression. There was no time to lose.

"Don't you trust me? Why so eager to marry me too soon?" Luna said as she smiled bitterly. She thought that Hero didn't trust her and suspected that she wouldn't marry him after Julian's surgery. However, she had no clue that it was just because Hero had anticipated that this would happen eventually.

"No, I just thought that today would be a great day to get married. Come, we still need to sign your release papers and check to see if your brother needs to undergo another surgery."

After he spoke, Hero took his jacket and the sleeping Amber from Luna's arms and walked out of the room. Luna watched his back as he left before she silently followed behind him.

At the Civil Registry Office ...

"Doesn't marriage registration require a household register? I don't have mine with me," Luna said quietly from the passenger seat as she unbuckled her seatbelt.

Amber had woken up from her nap and was smiling at Luna. She heard that her daddy and Aunty Luna was planning to register their marriage today. Finally, her Aunty Luna would become her mommy!

"No," Hero said. "I already asked someone to retrieve it for you."

"Huh?" Once again, Luna was shocked. She never knew they could register for marriage that easily. He even went too far, getting her own household register to set up everything.

The truth was that Hero was just so powerful and capable that he could even go and get married anytime he wanted to. His influence rivaled the Jiang and other wealthy families within the city.
