Chapter 83 - Ch. 82 Inward Control

Last night was a pain. Even after reaching the road and beginning to use cloud path we weren't out of the water so after reaching a fork in the road I suddenly forced all my mist towards the other path forming a cloud path down that road. As we ran the other direction the girls became much slower but it's safer so it doesn't matter that much. I casted the cloud path off and on down that bait path till about an hour later I gathered all my mist in that direction up forming a huge swirling ball of mist then forced it straight up high in to the sky it flies before I reach a point where it became harder and harder to push it up further into the sky forcing it as high as possible took a lot out of me but once I get it there I force it to fly back. Flinging it all the way back to the forest still full of mist. It took hours to get there as aposed to the days it would have taken if I had carried even a light object inside that ball... After getting it back to the forest that now entirely lacks undead I dropped it in like a drop of water into a pool it merged out of sight immediately. It's been up for many hours without any contact with me but the mist in the forest doesn't seem to be fading at all. I guess it'd be weird for it to fade entirely right? I mean it's not actual mist it's my body formed into mist. So would it ever fade? Do I have to die for it to fade? Or is the mist made up of cells of my body that will slowly die? There is a lot that doesn't make a ton of sense about my body. Like how I can eat food but don't produce excrement or how the mist coming out of my body is more then it requires to heal my body. Is it producing more mist with mist creation then it costs? Have I already questioned the logic behind this?

"Thud... Thump." Falling down the girls look immediately close their eyes to sleep in the hollow beneath a tree out of sight of the road we traveled upon. I sat on a large branch of the tree slowly spreading a mist cover out over the area forming a small dome of mist in the area and sending out my scouting parties one by one to direct the army as I meditated. Soon it'll be time to evolve again. I wonder what I'll be this time? More subtitles to mist? Maybe I'll get a utility skill. Or Alex will just show me one or two seemingly useful things that keyhole my existence into one thing then show me a bunch of meaningless side evolutions that clearly turn me into some other kind of animal. The only question is what will it be this time? Frog, toad, chicken and monkey have already passed. What's next? Maybe a better bird a bigger monkey and a larger form of a frog? Ha... Well whatever. I'm not there yet. Alex status please. Also show me if their is any skills that need to go up a stage.

"Unnamed Race- MMistTraveler

Hmm yep that's good. I need to get to around 40 before I'll evolve this time. The exp isn't the hard part but strengthening the body. I'm slowly getting there... Just twelve more... My light skill finally leveled... Along with most of them. Hey why hasn't binding leveled as well? Alex how does binging level up?

"Skill [Binding] accumulates energy via the act of usage like other skills due to the nature of the skill communication via already set bindings will cause it to gain energy however this is slow compared to simply using the skill to bind others."

Nope... You can tempt me all you want but I will not bind anyone again. I've already got the one girl to babysit and she keeps collecting friends... So let's not cause myself more problems. I never even chose to bind Ellie I was forced. I mean I could have just killed the idiot but that would be boring and she's not evil. Also I just generally hadn't learned to fight yet. I still wouldn't stand a great chance in direct combat with even a weak level one human... This body strength thing is a pain to get over. Luckily I can still protect myself through my mist. Anyways capped level skills now Alex.

"Skills [Mist Control] and [Mist healing] are ready for evolution of stage."

Ok control first please Alex.

"Please choose a path of evolution. Boundless, Formless, or Endless"

Well what do they do?

"Boundless: Increases the distance limit of mist you can control.

Formless: Makes it harder to see the uncondensed mist naturally however raises visibility lowering chance of illusion passive activation. This form of control is sneaky mist.

Endless: Raises the quantity of mist you can control at one time before straining yourself."

Hmm so nothing overly special just the ability to make my mist blend in the environment or lower the mental strain in usage. I already figured out it was harder to manipulate mist that's far away but I just assumed it was cause of my limited brain power lucky me it's not an insult on me... ha... Whatever I am aware how important formless could be for my attack style since I can never attack anyone out right but my mist glows it will likely take a lot of effort to hide it and the environment will still be stained green where ever it goes. No point in bothering. So Endless it is. I don't attack things at far distance much anyways so a little less stress their won't help me much. Healing next Alex.

"Please choose a path of evolution. Outward, inward, or passive."

Oh cool I don't need that one explained. So I can become a better healer for others myself or just have my body heal itself? Does any of them outright remove the other?

"Passive removes your control of the skill making it impossible to heal others through the mist however will require less effort as you can simply be inside the mist and have limitless healing. However it is less efficient then the previous form of healing requiring more mist for every point of health."

Sounds pointless as I'm super weak I only use it for myself when creating mist if I tried to heal in battle like that I'd be one hit by most things then leave behind a cloudy grave I don't have enough defense to make that useful. So outward and inward don't effect the other? What do they do then?

"Outward making use of the life element allows the fusing of the mist with the others cells to further accelerate regrowth.

Inward: due to a special constitution the mist acts as the cells of your body itself and healing allows you to simply replace those cells. Inward will allow your healing skill to better supplement those cells lower the cost of replacing them."

Oh so inward increases efficiency while outward allows me to consume my mist on others to heal them. Hmm... Inward for sure. It will allow me to grow my body faster. The other sounds handy but it's ideal that I don't let the people I care enough about to heal get hurt. So making myself stronger makes it less necessary to heal others anyways.
