Chapter 43 - Ch. 42 Blumest

Learning from my previous experience I decided to lay down and take a nap instead of waiting. As I lose consciousness the world went black then I woke up again... at least I think I did. It's still black... I guess I'm an egg now? Let me see. Can I move my perspective outside? Nope... Ok... Feeling about with my new body I find my form isn't quite physical almost flowing like water. Around me is a strange thicker kind of water-like substance. It doesn't seem to be water as it's all floating about I guess I'm mist right now? Am I gonna stay mist? How long do I wait in this egg? How the hell am I already bored? Well if I'm in an egg then I'm the yolk so I should eat the egg white which I assume is this thicker mist. Wonder if it tastes good?

Ah... yeah... nothing. It seems to fit inside my mouth go down then slip right out. Two clouds passing by. Guess I can't speed up the growth process? Gonna have to wait huh...

Well Alex can you show me my stats, please?

Looking behind me I see the familiar but silent little window and begin to read.

"Unnamed Race- MBlumest

Level:0 Status: Unborn

Exp:0/10

Evolution:0

HP: 5/5

Mp: 1/1

Skills: [Mist Art-0/10] [Soul Art-0/10] [Light-0/10] [Healthy-0/10] [Sight-0/10] [Detect-0/10][Regeneration-0/10] [Weakest-0/10]"

Wow, new setup. So have a hp and mp stat now? Unexplained... and no one to ask... I guess it's an evolved function of level? Also, I got exp now. That's nice I guess I'll need it now. I also gonna have to assume the M before my race implies gender... cool guess I'ma guy now... Or a weird flying gecko...Ha... So I guess I can only grind skills? Let's see about my new one then I got Mist Art so let's try moving some mist about. Focusing on the mist that makes up the yolk of my egg I begin to move it around seeing as it is similar to water in how it flows I change its general shape around me and start to swim about in a pool of my own control.

Checking with Alex I see no change in my skill and figure I'll just have to grind it up over time and keep the pool active while I see about making some light. Remembering my mana is only 1 I can't help but wonder if it'll cause a problem to use it... but then again can't exactly live this whole new life without my only magical skill. Keeping a part of my attention of the mist I try to also form the light within myself following a pattern that seems to exist within the depths of my soul as instinct. As I shift it gently I felt a splitting pain and my vision went dark.

Did I die? Hmm well, that or just passed out. I'm trapped in an egg so can't exactly do anything so doesn't matter if I'm safe or not also if I'm dead I'm dead I'll just have to have a new life. Maybe next time ask for a race with more mp? Hmm... Well, whatever. I'll wait and see.

---This is a random line to make clear that the scene is changing. I've read other stories and these get a lot of attention for no apparent reasons. So just a shout out if you comment on this... I see you and I will lick your face. Also won't have text here later...Maybe a lickie emoji---

"AHHH" a scream breaks through the calm silence moments later stumbling figures begin to leave the nearby buildings looking around curiously they all walk cautiously towards the scream to see if someone needs help.

As they got closer the loud thudding of two large figures slamming together begins to sound out and two roars break the tension as everyone immediately back away and looks at one another before settling down in a nearby corner just to be safe as they try to catch a view of the battle on the other side of the nearby homes.

As he woke to a scream right next to him Tim the beastmaster sat up in a panic as he recognized his wife's voice in that scream. Looking over he spots a beast he was recently requested to break in for a hunter's son a large black-furred wolf standing above a female figure already that is ripped to pieces. As he looks over in confusion and shock he sees the life leave his wife's eyes and rage overtakes him as he slams his strong hand onto the back of the beast's head and it sailed across the room going through a wall. Unsure of what to do he bends down and strokes the bloodied face of his now-dead wife with a certain level of hope sadness and longing in his eyes as he tries to find a pulse. Sorrow immediately forces away the other two emotions as he finds nothing... as the tears begin to stream down his face a howl clears the silence behind him as the wolf leaps to bite his back. Hearing that noise the tamer's eyes go from a flood of tears and sorrow to bloodshot in the time it takes him to turn around the tears still streaming down his face as rage takes over all other feelings he could feel and he strikes out immediately.

As the hunter fights on doing his best to beat this vile creature to death his eyes catch sight of a small figure rounding the corner and he panics before immediately going in to push the wolf out the second-story window. Behind him, a confused voice could be heard as his daughter spoke up.

"Dah... Mom!!!"

Seemingly not noticing the danger the girl runs to her mother's corpse and tries to wake her up as tears fill her face. Her eyes shot up to ask what happened and if her dad could do anything only to see the large wolf and him falling out the window. "Dad!!!" Jumping up to look out the window the girl doesn't notice the glass digging into her bare feet as she looked down at her father still crazily punching the large wolf that's body has been impaled on the fencing outside.

Relief is the first emotion she feels before she realizes the pain she is in and limps back over to her mom's corpse and hugs it crying no longer worried about her dad.

5 Years later

Little Ellie is turning 16 and her father bought her a special present. Since her mother's death, he's been quiet and he wanted to stop taming beasts at first but as he didn't have any other skills and the town still needed beasts for protection he gave up after many months of requests by most of the townspeople. He spends most of his time away and rarely speaks to her. She will be starting school soon and will have to pick a beast-like everyone else. However, she has never really gone out and doesn't even know what she wants to do so she spends a lot of her nights reading a beast encyclopedia her father keeps in the study.

As Ellie was cleaning up after her breakfast she heard a thud from the door and excitedly walked to open it when she saw her father. Like always he's covered in wounds from his reckless hunt Sally his partner walking behind him as always her golden glistening fur and long tail swaying gently in the wind as the 4-foot tall lioness follows him from behind. Her fur is red and clumped up in some places clearly covered in dried blood from the long time spent out in the forest. Since he started up again he has never kept the cages at our house or even in the city anymore so he hasn't brought any other beasts with him but unlike any other day, he's carrying a small black case. It's about 8inches tall and 4 inches wide covered in strange patterns formed in golden lines.

As he walks up he places the box that fits quite well in his one hand into both of Ellie's and smiled but didn't speak before patting her head and going to his room. Sally following along like a tame little kitten headed towards her own room after seeing him close his door. She gently rubbed her cheek against me before running off towards the stream next to her room to clean her fur.

"Such a weird cat shouldn't you hate the water?" Ellie shakes her head before her attention moves back to her present. Eyes glistening with excitement she walks back to her room sits on her bed with the box in her lap and gently opens it. As she did an emerald light escaped as a small egg became clear before her eyes.

"A beast egg? What kind? It's so small but I've never seen one that glows so prettily." Ellie's face showing a mix of confusion, adoration, and excitement. "It can't be bad if even as an egg it glows." As she said that the glow faded. Confused she watched the egg for a while but it just remained a light green shade as she lifted it up she found it had almost no weight. Almost like lifting a cloud. Unable to figure out why it stopped she gently places it next to her pillow and stares at it. Waiting for it to light up again hoping she didn't kill it already.
