The Prism continent was far from what we know today. Prism was still one and yet to be divided into different kingdoms. Everything was peaceful but peace will never reign forever as long as a sprout of darkness will immerge in one's heart.
During that time, magic was part of life, there was magic everywhere and people with stronger magic abilities will undoubtedly be held in high regard. Thus rulers were chosen based on this and five houses of power were named to maintain the power balance of the continent.
The House of Verzalys is known for their ability to manipulate energy and channel it to become their strength and into various magic circles they were coming up with. They are also fond of creating and discovering magic runes that could help with the citizens of Prism. Their house consists of people who love to try and create new things. They are very passionate in this particular endeavor.
