Levhon and Dreigh were stunned to see the number of people gathered outside their store. They were confused as to what has caused this commotion. They were calmly walking towards the Crescent Moon when they saw people running in the same direction they were going, they thought that something might have happened to one of the shops on their street only to see those people gathering right in front of their store.
Dreigh was about to ask one of the bystanders when he heard one of the people say that a group of men entered the store and created trouble for the young lady who was currently in charge of looking after the store.
After hearing this, both of them looked at each other and rushed forward, breaking through the group of people who were watching the show and hastily entered the now messy store. Dreigh's eyes widened in shock at the scene they saw as soon as they entered. Everleigh was currently on the ground and a man was about to slap her. Without a moment's delay nor hesitation, Dreigh flashed in front of his sister and used his ability to throw the assailant causing the man to slam on one of the bookshelves inside.
Seeing that their leader was easily thrown, like a ragdoll, the other men moved to attack Dreigh but he was faster than them. He immediately moved his hand and one of the store's bronze statues flew towards the men pushing them all outside and even breaking the store's doors.
"You're a freak..." the trembling voice of the leader came from the side.
Dreigh glared at the man, "if you don't leave now and dare to come back again, I would not let you off."
"I will remember this, we are not yet done," the man spat and hurriedly left the vicinity.
"Everleigh are you alright?" Levhon ran to her daughter after the initial shock of seeing how grave the situation was. He held Everleigh and checked for any injuries.
"I-I'm fine," her voice was trembling and she was doing her best to keep her tears from falling. She wanted to be strong but the way she tightly held his father's arms only shows how shaken she was.
Levhon saw how scared his daughter was and tightly embraced her and she cried. It was her first time to experience something so violent. It was not in her expectation that those men would be so unscrupulous to the point where they can harm a person. She tried to fight back but they were stronger. She cried her heart out.
Dreigh frowned and approached them, only to see a bruise on his sister's arms. His fists clenched and he can feel the anger rising inside of him. He did his best to keep his anger at bay but it was difficult for him to do so.
He turned away and stiffly walked to the destroyed door and got out. He glared at all the people who were still there to spectate. "Scram!" the force of his voice caused a little shock which startled the spectators.
The people were scared by Dreigh's tone and immediately dispersed. They became afraid. Some even thought that Dreigh might harm them if they stay there since there are many stories about remnants being violent. Within a few minutes, the Crescent Moon's front was devoid of any people while the store itself was left in a mess.
People only love gossip, Dreigh's anger rose at the thought that none of those people who were there stepped up to help his sister. It was apparent now that they can not solely rely on people who chose to laugh at someone's misfortune instead of giving them a helping hand. Dreigh inhaled and exhaled to calm himself a little bit, he doesn't want to cause any unnecessary destruction that might give other people to speculate.
Dreigh re-entered the store and saw that his father and sister were gone. He stood there for a moment before he decided to stay in the store and fix what he can fix, starting with the door. He went to the storage shed at the back of the store and got all the materials he needed. He then proceeded to make a door and replaced the destroyed one. After that, he cleaned all the broken items and glass scattered on the floor. He also remade the bookshelf that was destroyed. It took him the whole day to do all of these when his father came.
"How is she?" Dreigh asked after seeing his father's weary appearance.
Levhon went and sat on the stool behind the counter and sighed, "she's fine, a little bit shaken but fine. I have also applied an ointment for her bruises so no need to worry about those right now."
"That's good," Dreigh was able to sigh in relief. He can't imagine what would happen if they didn't come on time to prevent that man from slapping Everleigh. He shuddered in horror at the thought that his sister might have died if it weren't for them coming on time to rescue her. He won't be able to forgive himself if something like that happens and he would have crushed those people to death.
"Dreigh," Levhon called out to get his son's attention.
Dreigh looked back at his father and saw him smiling. He can feel himself relaxing at that moment.
"I'm more worried about you though," Levhon gave a bitter smile. Now that his son's ability was revealed, it would be more difficult for them to live normally in the future. The efforts they did to hide Dreigh being a remnant all came to naught just because they were careless.
"I don't care," Dreigh shrugged and leaned on the counter. He doesn't care even if the whole Prism Continent knows that he is a remnant. He was just glad that with his ability he was able to rescue his sister. He didn't even care if suddenly people would come knocking on their door looking for trouble.
Levhon became speechless at his son's sudden stubbornness but he was still thankful that his son was gifted because if he was not, he was not sure if they can defeat those thugs. It was risky, but it was still worth it.
"We better get some rest then, it's been a long day," Levhon stood up and didn't refute his son's words. If worse comes to worst, they could just easily move away from this place and start all over again. It was a little bit difficult but if it means that his family can live peacefully then he would not hesitate to change locations.
