Chapter 47 - Supernatural

At the count of three, Endo threw the fireball above and waited for it to reached the highest point, the moment that the ball reached its peak, Endo released the energy inside and a blinding and hot light appeared which disintegrated the low level shadows and sent the bloom stage shadows running. The darkness that enclosed them also disappeared which gave way to the moon light that shown on their surrounding.

They looked around for any other signs of an enemy, seeing that nothing was amiss, they finally took a breath. Endo stumbled back and sat on the ground with relief while Rond also took a deep breath to relax his erratic heart beat. Vira moved to administer first aid to the wounds sustained by Dreigh while Arthur kept vigilance in case some other creatures decide to attack them.

"Are we safe now?" Endo asked while breathing heavily, "because I can't guarantee that I can produce that kind of fireball again."

"Not for now, aside from those shadows, there are other creatures that can attack us. They are supernatural being and sometimes much fiercer than those shadows," he did not turn around to face them while explaining but the serious tone of his voice says it all.

"Supernatural beings?" Dreigh had a frown on his face after he heard those words. Supernatural beings are what they call the creatures which are beyond humans. They are very different from the normal people or from a remnant and there are almost no records about them. The spirits around Arthur are part of these so called supernaturals. Like any other, there are amiable supernatural beings including the spirits around Arthur and there are some that would be vicious and hated humanity for no reason or for any other reason.

"Do you know more about these beings?" Vira asked Dreigh while pondering over something.

"Not much, all the things I know about them are from legends or books or stories from other people," Dreigh shook his head, humans are still lacking information about them since anyone who would encounter them would die or would be taken as someone crazy.

"They are very much real. Those supernatural being are real and they exist everywhere, its just that, humans can't perceive them." Arthur sat down beside Dreigh and leaned on the tree behind him.

He dispatched his wind spirits to scout the surroundings and set up a barrier to alert them when something or someone approached the one kilometer radius they have set up. He took this time to slowly regain his lost energy in case they face any other enemy. The group waited for Arthur to further explain the topic so no one talked and focused on recovery.

"The kingdom where I came from had these kinds of creatures and territories of these creatures within the kingdom was well protected. They were considered as part of the kingdom but we never interact with them unless they allow it," Arthur opened his eyes and looked at the dark sky. "That kingdom suffered from the falling of the stars and struggled to regain their former glory. That event had also claimed the life of the king's beloved wife." The atmosphere slowly turned gloomy at Arthur's narration. Even his voice fell soft at the mention of the queen.

"Did you work for the royalty at your stay there?" Endo asked after Arthur did not continue for a few minutes.

"Yes," he answered shortly and did not speak anymore.

"Is your former master part of that kingdom's royal family?" this time Dreigh was the one who asked.

Arthur looked at him with a deep look for a long time, "Yes. My master was the only heir to the throne of Archellia but he - " Arthur fell silent and shifted his gaze. "He's already gone."

The gloomy atmosphere became more depressing at that information. All of them had the expression of sympathy towards Arthur, they did not know what to say and so they chose to remain silent. This silence reigned for at least an hour before Dreigh broke the silence.

"I have heard of Archellia before, they say it is difficult to enter that kingdom," Dreigh deliberately shifted the topic to ease the tension in the air.

Arthur was depressed but to remain silent would do him good so he decided to answer the curious question of the remnants with him. "Yes, the kingdom is surrounded by a barrier that can detect if a person or a thing is a dark creature. Anything that the barrier deemed to be dangerous will be immediately expelled or killed on the spot if it puts up a fight."

Widened gazes fell on Arthur, Archellia seems to be very different from Glasfale. Arthur looked at the amazed expression on their faces, they were like kids who were eager for new food or toys. "That kingdom seems to be amazing," Vira can't help but exclaim. With all the experience he had by living at the capital city of Glasfale to the experience he had after he joined the military institute, he had wished to leave this place and try living in a different kingdom.

"Yes, for me that kingdom is much more comfortable to live in than Glasfale or Luellia or any other kingdom in the Prism Continent." A feeling of pride slowly welled up inside him at the awe in those faces. They were genuine and more true than any other he had seen.

"But why did you leave, if you say that that place is better than any other places you have been?" Rond asked which earned him a glare from the other three. One thing was on their mind when they heard that question, they inwardly shook their heads and scolded Rond in their mind.

Rond did not understand why Dreigh, Endo and Vira were glaring at him that he could only smile awkwardly. "What?" he can't help but ask.

"I'm not ready to talk about that yet," was the only answer they received. Rond caught on what the reason was and did not talk anymore. "But if you ever have the chance to visit Archellia, you should do so. There are many beautiful places in that kingdom," he added and gave them a smile.

After that topic, no one had talked and they all chose to rest to slowly recover their lost internal energy. The night remained peaceful but in that calm, Arthur was able to think once again. He wanted to know why the area they were in was packed with shadows. The only reason why shadows would gather at one place is because that place had something that attracts them. What attracts shadows the most is their weakness, light. The brighter the light, the closer they come close to it even though there's a possibility they would disintegrate into nothingness.
