Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 - The Unexpected Roar

Everlast Forest, an ancient forest that existed since the age of gods, where many kinds of beasts roam, whether they are small or big, ferocious or not, strong or weak. The forest was divided into two zones; the safe zone and the forbidden zone; and was also divided into 6 areas; the outskirt, the outer forest, the mountain range area, the outer lake, the inner island, and finally, the heart.

The outskirt is where the weakest and most level 1 beast and normal animals live.

The outer forest is where most level 2 - 5 and the weakest level 6 beast lives.

The mountain range is the area where the forbidden zone starts. The mountain range is divided into many territories by strong level 6 beast.

The outer lake is where most water beast lives, and water beasts are known for their gigantic sizes.

As for the inner island and the heart, there isn't much-known information about these two areas, but from some ancient books, the inner area is also called as the paradise of beasts and the heart is also called as the area where the mother of all beasts in the everlast forest live.

But let's not focus on those areas, let's focus on the outskirt of the forest, where a 15 yrs. old boy with a midnight black hair and silver eyes was crouching behind a thick bush and was looking at a black wolf, this wolf was of the same species as of the wolf that nearly killed him.

This boy is Ronald, who was searching for an appropriate beast to be his first tamed beast. He had already been searching the forest for several days while killing some for stats, but he still didn't find any beast that is to his liking. The wolf that he is currently observing can be considered a good one.

Due to Ronald using his skill for several days, its level increased by one, and it now shows the total stats of the targeted beast.

This Black Forest wolf is the best wolf that Ronald had seen since he started. Although it is not the strongest one, it is the one with the best potential. Different from humans where the speed of gaining stats is proportional to the talent of an individual and the maximum stats one person can have is equivalent to a person's potential, a beast's potential and talent are equal, which means that if a beast has a higher potential, then it would also have a higher talent. Likewise, if a beast has a higher talent, then it would also have a higher potential. Most wolves, with the same stats like this one, were already quite old, while this one, base on Ronald's knowledge about the black forest wolves, is only about 1-2 years old.

Although this young wolf is quite good, Ronald was still uncertain if he really wanted it to be his first tamed beast. But he has already stayed in this forest for several days, and the resources that he brought for this small adventure is nearly depleted.

"Luna, what should I do to tame this wolf? Do I just hit it with my skill, ?" Ronald asked Luna as he decided to just settle on this wolf as his first tamed beast.

Upon hearing Ronald's question, Luna answered, "It isn't enough to hit the beast with your skill to tame it. Remember that even a beast has its own preferences, so you must first let it see that you are worthy of its submission. And one way for showing that you are worthy is by leaving it half-dead, this also weakens their resistance to the taming contract. Although there is a very very small chance where one is really lucky and successfully tame a beast without the beast approving the person who tamed it. Beast that are tamed in this way would mostly have a lower value of loyalty to the tamer, that means the beast would hardly follow the command of the tamer."

Hearing Luna's answer, Ronald thought for a while before asking another question.

"Would there be a difference if I leave it half-dead by sneak attacking it? Or should I confront it face to face?"

"It depends on the personality of the beast, but it is best to defeat them on what they are proud of. Some beasts such as those that are ambush type would easily surrender if they are beaten in the field of ambush, while some beast who are militant would prefer to submit to someone who can defeat them face to face. As for this wolf, base on my own observation, it is quite a proud one, so it is better to weaken its resistance by confronting it face to face, " Luna suggested.

"Okay, I'll fight it in a moment. I need to rest a bit and prepare a little."

Ronald rested for a while as he let Luna locked it down.

One of the functions of a guide is to help their host/master. And one of Luna's abilities is to sense the surroundings, about 100 meters around Ronald and locked down something within that area, and monitor its movement.

About 10 minutes later, Ronald had finished resting, and all his preparations are complete. Standing from his position and calmly walking out of the bushes, Ronald appeared in front of the young wolf.

The wolf was startled, then became wary at Ronald's appearance.

While the wolf was watching and examining Ronald, Ronald was also observing the wolf. The young wolf is about 0.5 to 0.75 meters in height while standing in four legs and has a thick black fur with a healthy body with no visible wounds.

After looking at each other for a while, Ronald decided to attack first. But as he was about to attack the wolf, a loud roar followed by a violent gale was suddenly heard, about a kilometer away from where he is standing.

The roar not only interrupted his attack but also scared the young wolf to run away.

The roar was not only loud but also carries an emotion of deep anger.

Birds and beasts flew and ran away from where the roar came, as Ronald was still deciding if he would run away or look at what happened in where the roar came from.

Ronald came to this predicament due to the feelings that he felt upon hearing the roar. One is fear, that is why he has a feeling of running away. From just that roar, it can clearly be speculated that it came from a very strong beast far stronger than him.

And the other one is that Ronald felt a feeling of expectation. Why did he feel that way? It is because after Ronald heard that roar, there is a voice within his heart that is calling and telling him that there is something important that is in there for him.

These two feelings made Ronald rooted there, standing straight, and didn't know what to do.

It was after a while that Ronald decided to look for the source of that roar. Although he thought that what he is doing is a stupid decision, but as time passed by, the feeling of expectation became stronger and stronger.

Although if Ronald runs at his fastest speed, running in a straight line, he could arrive in that place in a matter of seconds. But he didn't do it, he needed to think of the possible situations that may occur in that place, so he needed to preserve his strength. Also, the gale that followed along with the roar caused some trees to be uprooted and made the terrain more complicated to traverse.

So Ronald reached the site after about 10 minutes.
