Rielen overlooked the mostly finished Capital. The rubble had all been cleared away, and new buildings could be seen everywhere. Normally this would be a wonderful sight that would fill her with pride. Today she couldn't even see it. She couldn't stare at the bright smiling faces of the citizens. She couldn't enjoy the beautiful weather.
In fact it would be easier if it were raining. It would be comfier if the streets were empty. It would be better if it were darker. Then no one could see the silent tears. No one would urge her to walk in the garden. The sun felt like it was burning her skin. The air felt stifling. Her eyes hurt from the awful brightness.
She compromised with visiting the garden atop the roof. Where only royal family members could access. She ate the small tea foods and drank a cup full of the herbal tea Karla had given her. She couldn't taste anything. She couldn't allow herself to feel anything.
