Chapter 67 - A Barrier

"So easily caught. Like mice in a trap. Did you not think we knew how your magic worked?" A chilling voice came from the man in the cloak. The sound of his words made my veins feel like ice. A shiver went down my back and I felt powerless. The soldiers around us began to collapse as if the weight of their bodies was too much to bear.

Eon pulled me down beside him as if even in his weakened state he would shield me from harm. "Who are you?" I asked. I pushed away the shivering cold and forced myself to put on a calm face. "It truly is remarkable how you are able to cast aside the symptoms of the curse I placed on you. The spirits were right to choose you."

The man laughed as he raised the staff in his hand. My body jolted in surprise as energy burned into my body. A grunt escaped my lips as I resisted this new attack. "The least you could do is tell me who you are." I managed out a response. I could feel Eon breathing heavily behind me, his hands shaking on my arms.
