Edie said helplessly, "I really have it, and I remember I had it with me when I left." Joanna rested in Donald's arms as if she had had no bones and said weakly, "So we have to wait here for you to find the invitation that does not exist? I am wearing high-heel shoes. I am so tired of standing."
"You are tired?" Donald looked down at the woman in his arms and said gently, "Let's go in first so you can sit down and rest."
"Okay," Joanna said softly. Donald raised his head and looked straight ahead at the man pretending he didn't know Edie, "Since the lady can't find her invitation, can we go ahead of her?"
The man hesitated for a moment because it was against the rules, but Edie hadn't shown him her invitation yet, and more and more people were waiting to enter. After thinking about it, he said to Edie, "I am sorry, but could you please step to the side to find your invitation? According to our regulations, if you don't have an invitation, you are not allowed to go in."
