Karen feels a little troubled by Edie's reactions toward Donald.
"Although Donald is unconscious, now would be a great opportunity for you to talk to him. You must have a lot that you want to say to him. I can step outside so you can have some privacy."
Edie looked at his pale face and felt nothing. His condition was under control, and there was no need for her to be there anymore.
"There is no need for you to do this. I really don't have anything to say to him."
Karen couldn't believe it. Surprise flashed over her face at Edie's abrupt change in attitude. This was not the person, and she used to know. She thought that once she saw Donald, she would run into his arms without any hesitation. She never expected her to make such a decisive decision.
"You..."
"There is nothing to say, he is stable now, and I should leave."
