"I'm not working late tonight, I promised you that I would be home for dinner, I'm almost there."
Donald's tone was warm and gentle, but his eyes were cold and emotionless. With his usual pampering, his expression and emotion formed a terrible split.
Joanna had no idea how disturbing her husband looked. She smiled sweetly, and her voice was full of happiness, "I am so happy you are coming home. I prepared a candlelight dinner while I was waiting for you."
"Okay," he said and quickly ended the call. As Joanna hung up the phone, the sound of the phone was still ringing in her ears. Joanna looked at the roses, and the smile on her mouth instantly disappeared.
In the past, she would have been happy that Donald had come home from work early to spend time with her. But ever since she found out that he was holding onto Eddie's necklace and keeping it a secret from her. She had tried so hard to keep his memories from him, and now she knew she had so much more that needed to be done.
