After a few hours my brother and I had finished repairing the floor and cleaning the kitchen. Our father came in and inspected the job.
"Good work boys" he said with no emotion. "I hope that next time you decide to have a sparring match you two will take it outside." He started to lecture us, then looked at his watch, we'll finish this later Kit, Axel." "Sir." we both said. "Get ready for your coronation" he ordered.
"Yes sir." we both said and headed straight for our rooms.
When I got to my room I saw my royal fitter was already getting my suit ready.
"We need to make sure the alterations fit, Prince Kit" The Young man said.
"I told you a hundred times just call me Kit, you're a friend you don't need to use formalities or titles, Allen." I said.
Allen was a 17 year old boy, with long Black hair with bright blue at the tips, Allen and I grew up in the castle, he was often put in charge of watching me when my father and brother we're in meetings or away from the castle. I often think of him as my second brother.
"But pri-" he began. I stopped and glared at him. "Kit, you are now a Prince you need to get used to being referred to as such" He said.
"Yes I know that Allen" I said
"Well as long as you know." Allen said.
"Please step on the stand I need to make sure my measurements are correct." I followed him and stepped onto the stand. "Are you excited for this Kit, you have been waiting for this ever since your older brother came of age."
"Yes Allen I am excited, but there's a weird feeling going around."
"what do you mean?" Allen asked
"It's probably nothing, but still I need to be on my guard, I want you to bring my bo staff and long bow to the coronation, just in case." I said
"you think it's that serious" Allen said I could hear the worry in his voice.
"It looks like it still fits, how does it feel?" He asked.
"It feels better it's not as stiff and restricting." I proclaimed.
"Glad to hear that sir." Allen said. "You may want to start heading to the hall the preparation has already begun, They will be calling your name and announcing your new title here soon, you don't want to Miss that."
"Yes I'll be on my way, thinks allen." I said as I headed down the hallway.
I met up with my brother by the staircase leading to the hall.
"Are you ready?" My brother asked. Sounding nervous.
"Yep how about you, King Axel" I said teasing as I bowed my head and chanted
"I'm not worthy" several times before he slugged me in the shoulder. "Ow, ok, ok I was just joking." I said rubbing my arm "Yeesh that hurt." I mumbled. Seriously though congratulations bro, we finally did it, King and Prince, it feels so good to hear that!" I said excitedly.
"Were not King or Prince yet Kit." He said. "We still gotta sit through this long ritual and greet our people." Sounding board.
"Aarrgghh this is gonna be a drag" I exclaimed. Just then the door opened
and we heard the jester announcing us.
"And now the Royal Prince, Kit."
"Good luck bro, don't forget to smile" He teased don't wanna scare our people with that glare of yours."
"why not, where's the fun in that?" I said with an evil grin on my face.
"Oh boy This should be interesting." he said laughing. "Don't create chaos just yet please." As I reached the bottom of the stairs I turned my head and smiled. I threw on my hoodie and walked down the aisle.
The jester and everyone bowed as I walked passed them. My father stood up as I reached him. I took off my hoodie I bowed, he did the same. "It has come time, my youngest son has his thirteenth birthday today" he said address the people "And that means he has come of age claim his birthright" "As one of my last duties as King is to now give the throne to Prince Kit of Inari" And bowed, when he rose he gestured for me to take a seat next to him. I started walking to my seat and heard the jester announcing my brother.
"And now the Prince of Inari, everyone plea-"
Just then a fireball came flying in and hit the jester straight in his chest. He fell off his balcony and right in front of me and my father. I stood up just as the entire room was filled with fire. My father grabbed me and wrapped his body around me to protect me. The entire room was engulfed in an intense fire. My father screamed in agony as he was engulfed in the fire. When it was over my father wasn't moving and I struggled to push him off me. When I finally got free I saw he was dead.
"Hahahaha where are you boy." A demonic voice boomed through the hall.
I looked to the stage behind me and saw my bow staff and longbow sitting next to the throne. They were intact because of a spell my brother put on them, good.
I ran for the throne grabbed my weapons and sled behind it. I closed my eyes trying to concentrate on where that voice came from.
"Hahahahahaha you can't hide from me foolish child" the voice boomed again. It's coming from everywhere
I peeked around the throne scanning the area trying to get a read as to where the fireball was coming from. I glanced to the balcony where the jester was and saw burn marks and half the balcony was destroyed. I looked down to see the jester burned corpse lying under the pile of rubble from the balcony above.
I looked to the spot where the peasants were and saw only a few bodies.
"Well at least most of the people got away." I thought. I then looked to the entrance, where I had entered the hall. I saw my brother standing there transformed into his Kitsuné form. Scanning the area. He saw me. And motioned for me to head over there. I paused hesitating.
I saw he was in his defensive speed stance. I looked one last time to our father, and ran towards my brother. He saw me and ran to grab me. His speed was unreal I had barely managed to get two steps from the throne and he had grabbed me and pushed me back behind it.
I then heard a loud bang and the sound of fire crackling I looked passed the throne to see the remnants of a fireball. "Wow...that was close, thanks bro" I said
"You gotta move quickly Kit, you hesitated and the enemy was waiting to attack you."
"Can you tell where the enemy is" I asked.
"No" he said peaking around the throne and saw a horde of beasts appear out of a Portal. "Stay by me" he said. I nodded. He ran for the hall, and I followed. I had barely got three steps out when I heard a whoosh. I jumped up and flipped back just as a fireball exploded on the ground beneath me. Woosh. While I was still in mid air another fireball was launched at me. Unable to dodge it I turned my body try to block it. When I was hit from the side I looked to see my brother had grabbed me out of the air and used his tails to deflect the fireball. He placed me on the ground in the middle of the Hall, as demons started to spawn out of the portal.
"Crap we're surrounded" I exclaimed.
I looked to my brother to see a smirk on his face.
"Come on Kit where's your sense of fun." he said as he handed me my bow and staff. He looked at me quickly and saw that smirk that meant only one thing.
"Ohhoho this should be fun." I exclaimed
"7 tailed formation." we said together. We were back to back, he was on all fours with his tails surrounding me on all sides. He had three tails to either side of me and one above. Each tail had a unique magical power. I would use those magical powers on my arrows. As the demons started to attack. I knocked my bow placed the arrow to the middle tail to my right. And it ignited in a purple flame. I released and it hit a demon, as it did a purple flame sent out in an arc taking out seven more enemies.
"Hahaha so this is the legendary seven tailed formation?" The voice echoed. "If that's the best you got you guys are weaker than I thought." As wave after wave of demons attacked us.
I kill one and two more take its place. I turned my head to look at my brother and saw he was slashing the demons with his claws and blasting them with his kukan beam.
"We won't be able to keep this up for much longer." I whispered
"Just keep going as long as you can." he said. "we will not let our kingdom fall."
"Right." I nodded and launched another volley of arrows hitting thirteen more demons.
"Kit." Axel said
"Yeah."
"When I tell you to, drop to the ground."
"Why?"
"Just do it!"
"Ok?"
Another five demons attacked me and were disintegrated by the purple flaming arrow.
"Now!" Axel yelled
I bashed a demon with my bow sending him flying back and quickly dropped to the ground. The last thing I saw was Axel's tails surround me creating a shield and a bright gold light. When his shield dropped I got up to see the entire hall was engulfed in a gold flame. And all the demons were gone along with the portal that they were coming through.
"What!" The demon's voice boomed in anger. "That's not possible."
"Now your demon army is destroyed, Quit hiding like a coward and show yourself!" Axel yelled.
"Hahaha Very well it seems you leave me no choice!" The demon boomed. As he said that a huge fireball was launched at us.
"Look out!" axel yelled as he went to grab me but before he could I had my staff ready and slammed it against the fireball. My brother looked in horror as I struggled to deflect it. "Arrrrrrrrrrgggghh!" I yelled. Axel's eyes went wide.
"No." he whispered to himself. That glow coming from his body, those eyes. He looked to my back and his eyes when wider. Unable to believe what was happening he stood there dumbfounded, as I finally deflected the fireball straight up into the ceiling making a huge hole before I Fell to the ground from exhaustion. Axle snapped out of his trance just in time to catch me and carried me to the wall. As he sat me down. He turned to the demon then back to me.
"Sit here and rest" He turned to the demon and transformed into his full Kyuubi. "I don't know who you are, but you have came into my kingdom, killed my people, and destroyed my family!" He said clenching his teeth. "And for that. You must die."
He charged his kukan beam and fired it at the demon. The demon dodged it and moved to attack. "Hahaha thats cute , is that the best the legendary Kitsuné can do." As he came at my brother at blinding speed. I had came to just in time to see the demon attack Axel. He slashed at him with his talons.
"Gotcha" the demon laughed. "Huh"
"Haha your fast but. I'm faster" Axel said as he appeared behind him with such speed that I didn't even see him. He then bit down on the demons arm and tore it off.
"Ahhh" the demon yelled in pain as crimson blood sprayed everywhere. "You bastard you will pay for this! The demon yelled. As he vanished into smoke. To appear in front of me.
"Oh I see your awake. Well let me fix that." He said as he charged a huge dark ball in his hand. "This is what happens when you defy me" He said as he looked to my brother. "Die for good!" He yelled. My eyes went wide in horror. My brother charged at him just as he released his attack.
"To late!" The demon yelled. As he launched his attack at me. Just as the ball was going to hit me I saw a flash in front of me. I crossed my arms over my head ready for the final impact. But what hit me was not a ball of dark energy buy a huge body. I looked to the body to see my brother.
"No." I whimpered "why, why did you save me you could have finished him." I began to cry
"Your the salvation of this kingdom kit, we need you alive." He said and smiled. His mouth was dripping with blood And there was a hole in his chest that went straight through. He looked to me and then to his chest.
"I really messed up this time huh bro hahaha." As he laughed one last time he passed out. His body went limp and the brilliant gold color turned to a stained yellow.
"No axel. Axel don't do this." I cried and shook him trying to wake him up. "Axel. A-Axel I whined through tears." "Oh now that's unexpected." the demon trying to sound shocked. "I wanted to get him mad by killing you. I wanted to see the true power of the Kitsuné bloodline. Oh well. It looks like your the only one alive."
"You bastard" I murmured.
"Now how should I kill you"
"How dare you kill my brother"
"Haha thats cute kitty. Get angry."
"You will pay for this"
"Hahaha I will, oh really now." He laughed. "Your brother could barely lay a finger on me how could yo-"
He paused as he saw me. The same glowing red aura surrounded me as when I deflected his first attack with my staff. This time the aura was more pronounced. As I stood up my body began to change. And the demon started to slowly back up as I walked towards him.
"No it's not possible." The demon stuttered. "No how can this be, there just a myth. No way a weakling like you could be one." He said as he saw my nails turn into claws my ears turn into those of a fox, and a tail grow out of my lower back.
"Now you will learn what it feels like to be terrified" I said. "You have killed my father, splattered my people. And killed my brother." As I began to charge a huge crimson ball in my hand. "You have terrorised this kingdom thinking you could eliminate the last of the Kitsuné race, but you didn't count on one thing." I said as the ball grew bigger. "You thought that the Kitsuné bloodline would be easily wiped out because there was only three of us, but you failed to realize one thing. Even if the Kitsuné are outnumbered. Even if there is one verses one thousand, we will not back down." I Said as the demon was now frozen in fear looking at the giant ball that was now the size of of my body. "You forgot that the Kitsuné will never back down, because we are the strongest of the Beasts. And we protect this realm from evil like you." I yelled as I launched the ball at him with such speed he barely had time to register it. It hit him full force. And exploded sending shockwaves throughout the castle. I turned to my brother and nelt back down, Smiling. I was just about to pick him up when a beam came from behind me. I dodged it enough to have it scrape my cheek. I turned to see the demon was still alive.
"You little brat" He spat. "You think you can injure me like this and then turn your back to me." He said breathing heavily. He was standing there with half of his upper left body blown apart "You will pay for your insolence. He said as he charged an attack out of his Hand.
I grabbed my brother and placed him behind a pillar. Then charged my own attack. We launched our attacks at the same time and they collided. Sending another massive shockwave throughout the castle. This one made the ceiling began to collapse. I quickly looked to where my brothers body was and say the pillar collapse and a huge section of ceiling collapse with it. I instantly raised my free hand and chanted a word and a green aura formed around him and grew bigger covering his whole body. As the ceiling fell on the aura it instantly dicentargated. Once the rubble had cleared I let the aura go and focused on the demon.
" hahaha still trying to save him when he's ready dead" the demon laughed.
"Shut up he died protecting me and I will make sure it was not in vain."
"Cute, but you still don't have the strength to defeat me."
"We will see."
He then began to push more energy into his attack. It began to push mine back. I then charged a beam with my other hand. I had barely begun to charge it when I heard a noise coming from where my brothers body was. I didn't need to see what it was because I could feel it. My brothers energy was flowing into my body. As I launched the attack a huge gold beam fired out of my palm, and collided with the beam the demon shot. The demon looked briefly surprised. Then began to push even more energy into his attack. I did the same. As my two beams began to grow until they overlapped each other. Creating one big beam. The demon struggled to keep his beam stable. My beam slowly began to bush his back.
" No you bastard" the demon seethed "I will not lose to you."
As he pushed even more energy into his attack. I laughed and pushed all my remaining energy into my attack. That was enough to completely over power the demon. As the beam pushed his back he yelled. "This isn't over yet, I will have my revenge!" as the beam engulfed his body in brilliant crimson gold. And disintegrated him the beam continued and made a giant hole in the wall behind him and in the mountains behind the castle. I turned to were my brothers body was and saw him standing. I cocked my head closed my eyes and smiled. Just before I passed out My brother ran to me and caught me in his arms. My head now resting in his still bloody shirt. He turned into his Kitsuné form and ran for the nearest hospital. It must have been a few minutes later when I came to still feeling exhausted I couldn't move and my vision was blurry. I heard a girls voice yelling
"Prince Axel is that you. Thank god you're alive we saw a massive beam of energy shoot out of the castle and thought the w"- She froze as she saw a boy on his back. " Oh my god is that Prince Kit" she yelled in horror. "Call the nurse we have an emergency the Princes need medical attention immediately." A few seconds later I felt a bunch of people gently lift me up and I passed out again.
