After a "fight" that didn't even took 5 seconds Akiyama gave up. Satoru won by standing at the opened door. This wasn't the typical fight where both contestant try to land a hit on each other, since Satoru's objective the whole time was to get out of this situation and not to beat Akiyama.
Looking at Akiyama, who was shaking not because of being out of breath, but rather after receiving a huge adrenaline rush, Satoru didn't know what to do. He however knew that if Akiyama would charge at him again what his next move would be.
"Sorry for testing you this way, Ikeda-san. Look, this sword isn't sharp at all."
The metal blade of the sword in Akiyama's hand turned into plastic. Little light emitters at the edges of the plastic tube could change the appearance of the blade drastically, they were so good in fact that Katsumi's sensors couldn't pick up the difference.
"What was the goal of this test?"
"The explanation will take some time. Here, take a seat."
Akiyama pointed to a chair at the teacher's desk. Satoru however looked at it and decided to be close to the door. He just went to the side a bit to let the door shut.
"I am alright standing."
"I wouldn't blame you for not wanting to sit. Just don't say later I didn't offer you a seat.-"
While saying this Akiyama jumped over the table again with his feet first and landed perfectly onto the chair, he offered Satoru earlier, in a sitting position.
"This plastic sword has the weight and center of gravity of a real sword. You guys will learn to use them in the upcoming weeks."
Akiyama tossed the sword out of nowhere. The sword did a nice arc infront of Satoru, who just needed to extend his hand to catch it. Curiously he held the sword seeing how real it felt to wield. With the light emitters on there is basically no way to tell this with a real one apart.
"I don't understand why you would go to such lengths only to show a normal student like me a practice sword."
"You can't call yourself a normal student after the exchange we had, can you?"
Of course Akiyama was right on this point. A normal 16 year old student wouldn't be able to do anything in face of a sudden attack. This fact however didn't stop Satoru to bargain further.
"I admit it. I am not your typical student."
"I agree. There were signs that you weren't a normal student, but I wouldn't have imagined it turning out this way."
"May I ask what these signs were?"
Satoru was still oblivious what possibly could have been so abnormal that a teacher would go such lengths to test him. Even if Akiyama wouldn't tell him the entire story, he was pretty sure it has something to do with the entrance exam, since he couldn't remember seeing Akiyama coming into the classroom with a sword.
"Your score in the entrance exams were, let us say, too normal."
"Too normal?"
How does this make any sense? If he is getting picked out, why weren't other people with "normal" scores being picked out?
"You scored in each test with a variance of 0.5 points the average of last years 1-S. I calculated the chance of this happening unintentionally and something smaller than 0.01% came up. Even in the 10k data points I considered, no one had a variance smaller than 1 point to the average to the class they were placed in."
"I see. I am surprised how you could recognize the connection."
"I am the homeroom teacher of 2-S too, so of course I immediately saw how your scores were almost the same as the average of last years 1-S. Would you explain the reasons for purposely lowering your score to me?"
Satoru didn't even bothered about thinking telling Akiyama the true reasons behind his actions. He would rather face expulsion from the school than revealing anything related to his past.
"I would rather not speak about it."
There was a pause for a few seconds. Akiyama considered all the information he got on Satoru and made a decision.
"Don't worry on this matter. You probably won't get into trouble, since I can't remember seeing a rule that states you have to complete the tests with the best of your abilities and to be honest maybe it is better for me not knowing anything. "
For Satoru this was the best outcome he could hope for. He could continue his university life while leaving his past behind. Just in the future it would be bothersome if other teachers were going to find out about the interaction they had.
"Are you going tell the Dean about this?"
"It will depend on if you take this deal or not."
"A deal?"
"I keep you faking your entrance exam a secret and you keep the test I did on you a secret."
It wasn't as if Satoru was eager to tell everyone of the "fight" he had with Akiyama anyways. If this was the price to pay for him messing up his cover, he gladly accepts it.
"What should I say to the other students when they ask why I needed to have a talk with you?"
"Tell them that we had a chat on how you are a promising student and that I showed you some practice equipment."
Satoru thought about this answer a bit and came to the realization how good it was. On the next morning they had the first sword practice. This answer will provide an explanation why he is better than the other students in 1-S and why he is familiar with the practice sword, not to mention giving a good reason for a private talk.
"There is no way the secrets are going to be exposed right?"
"I don't think other people would find your exam suspicious, so if we don't say anything no one will notice. As for the test I did, we didn't use any 'Mass To Energy' that will trigger the detectors and the classroom is located on the very end of a wing on the second floor. My detectors I placed outside in the hallway haven't seen anyone in this section either."
"Why would you place detectors in the hallway?"
"I have my reasons you know, but more importantly you should go to the main lecture hall soon."
Not realizing how long they were chatting, Satoru hastily returned the practice the sword he was holding the entire time back to Akiyama and headed to the lecture hall where the the opening ceremony was held.
