Chapter 56 - The Queen

The woman has long red hair, and she lets loose freely, portraying g herself as someone who isn't bound by rules. Yet the small crown on her head proves that she symbolises authority. The woman strolled towards a hidden chamber far from the hecticness of ruling, and political agenda. A room only she can access, as the ruler of the Cold Moon Kingdom, Luna Ravinar.

The door of the chamber is normally hidden behind a wall that's covered by intricate design. The wall is filled with pictures, portraits of her ancestors, and depictions of their past glory. However, her focus isn't on the glorified past, or longing for her ancestor's power and influences, but rather on what is hidden behind the wall.

Luna steps forward and presses her palm on the wall, with gentle and slow movement, she lets her palm feel subtle differences on the wall surfaces and presses it after a few seconds. Not long after her action, a fragment of the wall in front of her turned, to reveal a section of hidden road behind. Luna is not shocked, nor amused, as there aren't any changes in her emotions. This is normal. She won't be fazed by such things as hidden roads, chambers, or treasury. What's a royal without one of these?

She entered the hidden chamber casually, and the wall behind her closed automatically. She didn't panic, rather she was used to it. She stood a little as she waited for her eyes to get used to the dark. Life as a non-human has its perks. Being able to see in the dark, super strength, and adaptability, who would even refuse to have more powers?

Luna walked down the stairs the moment her eyes were used to the dark. She walks elegantly, and there doesn't seem to be any rush in her eyes. It's like she does not worry her mind. However, only her heart knows what she feels right now. After a few minutes of walking, she reached the end of the stairs, and in front of her was a door. A normal door, but to her it's the very start of everything.

She opened the door to the harsh light of the afternoon sun. She covered her eyes with her arm as she let her eyes get used to the light again. After a few seconds, she relaxed her body, and dropped her hand to her side, as she looked towards the scenery of her surroundings. Not far from her is a small lake. No one goes here, as this place is pretty much an off-limit area. No one except her knows that there are hidden passages that will bring them to this area. The passage was built as an escape road.

It's ironic. The hidden passage to escape is hidden behind a wall designed with glorified portraits and drawings of their ancestor's past achievements. However, that isn't what Luna wants to focus on today. She takes a few steps forward as she reminiscence about the first time she met that person.

She closes her eyes, and the moment she opens her eyes again, she is taken to the time when she was still young and immature. It was the day when her mother passed away. She hid herself here but suddenly met with a mysterious kid. It's weird, that kid is the same age as her, yet she is braver, stronger, and dependable. She is mysterious and wears a mask. Luna is taken aback by the fact that despite not knowing anything about the kid, she is like a light to her darkening heart.

Luna's eyes light up as she reaches for the hand of that kid. However, her reminiscence was cut short when she remembered how that kid quickly pulled the young herself into the lake. She let out a sigh before shaking her head, to return to the present and stare at the calm lake.

"Damn it Rei, just where the hell are you..."

Luna cursed under her breath as she gritted her teeth and clenched her palm before looking at the surface of the lake. She sees her expression from the reflection of the lake. It was only then she was forced to calm herself. She can't show her worry, and fear towards her subject. Being able to stand here as a ruler of this kingdom as a female is already hard. Many royal guards and ministers of the old king were loyal towards the male king, who was her father. However, after his passing, the only one who deserved the throne was none other than his daughter, Princess Luna Ravinar.

My eyes narrowed as I clicked my tongue as I remembered the minister forcing me to marry some guy, taking in concubine, just so I could bring a male heir. My answer is, either his head, only his head under my foot, while his body is burning inside the fireplace, or keep his mouth shut.

Of course, he chose the second option. Although, now rumours are circulating of how I am a cold-blooded killer, who cares, as long everyone never dares to ask me for a hand in marriage?

"Still, I hope Rei isn't scared of me". I mumbled before letting out a soft sigh. Everyone can disappear, be scared, heck, they can feel whatever about me, but,

"Rei, you are mine". I look at my reflection on the lake's surface as I take another breath.

"I will find you, wherever you are, whatever it takes, as I am the queen of this kingdom, and you will be my king."
