Today is the first time I'm busy with student council work. Usually, it's when the school will hold an event. The student council needs to think of the perfect plan and countermeasure if trouble arises during the day of the event. The member of the student council usually doesn't need to join the lesson in the classroom. This is because most of the member has good grades.
Well, there are also a few exceptions like me, who worked as Becca's assistant. She has been absent for a few days after the kidnapping accident. So, I need to sort out her work from most important to least important. There's also another job that should fall on Becca, but I need to deal with it myself. Luckily, most members are contributing a lot. Especially Vincent as he knew what happened to Becca.
If the person who saved Becca last time is Vincent, things might go the same way as the plot. Becca loves Vincent despite him only feeling pity for her. But, right now, Becca depends more on the doctor, which is a good thing as the doctor will surely return her feeling.
"You look busy for a first-year student..."My thought was disturbed by the sudden voice. I look at Vincent's always frowning face. He is standing in front of me while holding a new report for the school's cultural event.
"Isn't it the same for you…" I smirk at him before continuing my work. Despite that, I don't ignore him. "You are eighteen years old this year. Yet, you already need to deal with your parent's company."
"I'm the oldest son and the future heir of a zillion-dollar company. I'm different from you." He spoke with a hint of arrogance.
I just roll my eyes as I'm used to his personality of being proud. At least I know he doesn't mean it badly. "Everyone is busy dealing with different things..." I reply lazily.
"Huh!!!" Suddenly, Alice appears with dissatisfaction clearly written on her face. I smile at Alice as she places another folder in front of me with a heavy slam. She stares at me for a few seconds before turning away and ignoring my smirk.
Alice, the cause of my piling up work. Her jealousy really eats at my free time.
"How did you get on her bad side?" It was Vincent who asked. As the male lead, he should be a person full of pride and rarely show weakness. Yet, he is scared of Alice whenever she seems to be in a bad mood.
"Well, it's because she was bullied, and she can't fight back." With a smile that doesn't reach my eyes, I start to check on the files Alice gave me.
"Bullied? Shouldn't we help her?" Vincent looks at me with a frown after his nervousness dies down.
"It's nothing serious… just some lover's quarrel..." I can't help but let out a small laugh.
"…Are you in a relationship with her?" Vincent looks at me with wide eyes.
"Not me… someone else." Vincent was about to ask again but, I quickly replied, "You are not ready to know who."
My statement makes Vincent close his mouth. But, he still stares at Alice for a few seconds before pursing his lips and nodding in understanding.
I smile at him before getting up from my chair. I look at the folder that Alice placed just now. With a chuckle, I put it on Caroline's desk. Caroline gives me a bewildered look. "Help me sort this out..." I smile at her before following Alice outside. Leaving Caroline not having any chance to refute.
"Hey Alice, we need to talk." I quickly change my former expression from a smiling to a more serious attitude.
"What's there to talk?" She looks at me with a frown.
"Not here." I look around to look for a suitable place for a private conversation. Luckily, it's not that hard to search for one. There's a room beside the students' council. This room is used as a resting place for all members of the student council. Right now, there's no one in there because most members are in the classroom or have duty somewhere else.
I gesture for her to follow me inside the room. No one is here, aside from both of us, just like I thought. We sit opposite each other. In silence, she stares at me while I lean on the couch with crossed arms. I let out a small sigh before leaning towards her a little.
"I'll be blunt this time." I sigh before continuing my statement. " Do you love Alex?"
"Yes! I love her."Despite the frown on her face, she answers my question without hesitation. I gotta respect her for that. But, this is not what I'm worried about. 'What I'm worried about between Alice's feeling for Alex is...'
"Do you know why I ask you this?" I ask her again.
Alice paused for a moment with a visible frown on her face before answering. "It must be because Alex asks you to do this." The way Alice answer is not like a question but a statement. Alice doesn't even doubt her guess.
'This is what I'm worried about.' I sigh in my head. 'Alice loves Alex, I never doubt that. But, her basic trust for Alex is almost close to zero.' I thought of Alex with sympathy hidden in my heart. 'Basically, Alice loves Alex. She really does, but at the same time, she can't bring herself to trust Alex with even this little thing.'
'Their relationship with each other is as fragile as glass. Without someone to take care of it, it's easy to fracture or even worst, it will shatter.' I sigh as I know that somehow, my role in their relationship is like a glass caretaker. But I can't be with them to clean up their problem forever.
"Alice, do you know the three symbiosis relationships in Biology?" I asked while supporting my head with my arm on the armrest of the couch.
"What do you want, exactly?" Alice asked with a displeased tone. "You have been random since we start to talk here!"
"The answer is Mutualism, Commensalism, and Parasitism" Without waiting for Alice to answer, I just answer this for her. "To me, your relationship with Alex is like a parasite."
My statement makes me receive a cold gaze from Alice. But, I have decided to be blunt with Alice to make her realize her mistake early.
"You... are you picking up a fight!?" Alice quickly gets up and grabs the collar of my school uniform. She glares at me with gritted teeth. But, I can see her hands is shaking.
I've already expected this kind of reaction from her. I hold her wrist gently as I don't plan to hurt her. Then I look at her calmly before saying things that will surely make her angrier. "To you, whatever Alex did is like a thorn. It will always disturb you. Digging inside your heart."
"Stop that…" Alice speaks in low tones with red eyes.
"You want to control her..." I continue to speak calmly in front of her.
"I said stop talking..." Alice's eyes are becoming redder. Using her hand that's gripping the collar on my uniform, she presses me on the sofa as if she wants to choke me.
"Alex can give you both her love and trust but, you can't do the same." I continue to tell Alice her problem. This might seem like a normal toxic relationship to other people. The least people will ask both of them is to break up. But, this problem has happened in different worlds before I even meet both of them. Their relationship is more complicated than what meets the eye.
"I can give her everything she needs. I can make her happy, as long she won't betray me." Alice speaks with gritted teeth. "You know nothing. You don't know her favourite, her habit, her dislikes." Then she pressed me harder. "So, don't talk like I'm the cause of Alex's misery when I'm the one who loves her the most!" Alice warned me before releasing the hand on my collar.
I look at Alice without changes in my expression. As I fix the crumple on my uniform, I speak again. "I might not know a lot about you and Alex." I pause as I look at Alice in the eyes. "But, I know more than enough to know that your relationship will not reach a happy ending if you can't put your trust in Alex."
Alice is about to speak again, but I cut her off before she can make a sound. "You said that you know Alex better than me, then you should know that she will never betray you." Alice becomes lost on words as she looks down at her feet. "I know that she won't betray you, so I hope that if there's a time where a misunderstanding happens, you will talk to her first."
I start to walk away and, I am about to step out of the room when I glance back to see Alice is still in the same position. I sigh before giving her the last reminder. "Your problem is that you don't trust Alex as much as she trusts you. Please communicate more so there won't be any misunderstanding."
After I say that, I leave her alone in the room. I hope with my reminder, Alice and Alex can fix their relationship without my help.
I walk until I reach an empty hallway. I look around to make sure no one is here before taking out my phone. It's the video sent by Doctor Maya. My phone has vibrated since the time I talked with Alice.
I can feel a smile creep on my face as I can start on the next step of my revenge.
