"Hey are we still good for today? I really want to come to your class." Adonis walked next to me as we left the building. His sandy colored hair caught the sunlight and shimmered with his marble colored eyes. My heart thudded for just a moment. I held my chest as if to silence its loud irregular beats. Adonis' eyes met mine and a malicious grin spread across his face.
"Did your heart finally sway for me?" He asked in a sarcastic manner.
"N-no, it's just this stupid arrhythmia," I said awkwardly, "Don't be so narcissistic!"
"I'm hurt! I thought for a moment you had fallen for me. Wifey why don't you love me?" He continued to mock me though his face seemed to show a hint of true disappointment.
"Who is your wife! No one can sway for a donkey faced man like you," I exclaimed. I pointed my finger into his chest and though I said hurtful words, he seemed to enjoy the retort. He reached his right hand up to hold mine. He leaned in he close to my ear, his breath, even and hot, tickled my neck. He was so close that I could smell his natural scent, and it felt intoxicating.
" You should be more careful lil' sis'. People
Will start to get the wrong idea if you keep touching me this way." I felt my face burn and though I couldn't see it, I knew his face had also flushed.
" I understand," I said quietly, waving the white flag,
" I will be more respectful Captain Gray."
"Oh, now I'm Captain Gray! You're so indecisive," he whined, "I can't even tease you even a little." He pushed my hand back. He began to sigh loudly, as if truly heartbroken, he wiped away fake tears.
"You are the most dramatic person I have ever met." I rolled my eyes trying to stifle my laughter.
"Oh, but it's still a pleasure to know me! You're the most stiff and awkward person I know. Don't worry sis' I'll still be your friend." He sounded so cheerful and honest as he pranced to his car. He opened the passenger door and bowed dramatically. I sighed loudly, had I know he would be a fruitcake over this, I would have gone home. I got into his car and settled in. I expected we would go straight to the school but as he drove I realized he was taking me home.
"Why are we going to my house?" I asked, somewhat disappointed and worried he didn't want to take me anymore.
"Well you can't go like that," he said gesturing to my uniform, "Anyway, I need to stop at my house and you're not far so I thought I could drop you off so you could get ready."
" You live near me?" I questioned.
"Actually, yeah not far. I just moved there a few weeks ago. Since I'm just now moving back to the city, I was staying with my dad. Now that he is dating your mom, I just wanted to move out before they got back and it got awkward."
"So, like where in my neighborhood do you live?" I pushed. I was curious to see how close he was.
"Do you want to see my house? I guess we can stop there first," he said absently.
"Is that even a question. You got to see my house," I pouted.
"Fine. You're on Little street and I live on Beech street." He turned in the direction of his home. The car came to a stop in front of craftsman style home that sat on a corner lot to my street and Beech street.
"You bought a house that's only like five houses down from me. You know Sam lives across the street right. Wait are you stalking me?" Surprise over took me as I stared at the house.
" First of all, I didn't not move here because it's the street you live on. Didn't you ever wonder why I never needed GPS to navigate your maze of a neighborhood? This house belonged to my mom before she passed away. My dad and her separated for a short time and she bought this because my dad asked her for a divorce. Shortly after moving in they reconciled but she kept the house just in case. When she died she gave it to me. I didn't move in right away because the house had been unoccupied for six years so it needed repairs." I could tell he was a bit flustered but that he was being honest. I wondered why Tom asked his wife for a divorce. They had clearly spent so many years married already so why divorce.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it seriously. Hey, can we carpool now? I've had to take the bus the last few weeks because my car broke down. I didn't drive it while on leave and the other day when I went to start it, the old piece of shit died."
"Typical woman, you just want a man with a nice car," he whined dramatically, "You can come in if you want to." I looked over the beige house. It's lawn was neatly trimmed and small azalea bushes surrounded the small patio. Overall the house was extremely cute. I adored the fairylike structure. Curious to see the inside, I wondered if it looked more like a bachelor pad inside, I went inside with him. I stood awkwardly at the door, Adonis flashed his hand around the room as if to encourage me in. I stood in his living room which had a large sectional in its middle. It was a chocolate fabric, and when I touched it there was a plush texture. I sat down on the edge of the chase portion. Seeming pleased, Adonis went toward the kitchen and disappeared to the left. I assumed the rest of the house laid beyond d that point. I took the moment to look around the storybook home. I thought he left the house the way his mother decorated it. No straight man had taste the good. Beneath me was a large faux cow hide rug, it's colors matched well with the gray/blue of the laminate flooring. Across from me sat a fire place and on each side two shelves. I casually noticed several photos that sat on them.
"What are those," I whispered quietly. I stood and strode over to them. Several photos of a cute young boy lay in those frames. This boy was clearly Adonis. Most of the photos were simple singular photos of him. One stood out. The photo was of Adonis and a gorgeous woman. I picked the photo frame up to look closer. The frame has a very vintage feel to it. It had a lovely floral design around its edges. In the photo their beautiful eyes shown brightly. The woman who had to be his mother, took my breath away.
"What are you doing," Adons' voice jolted from behind me.
