Chapter 81 - Altercation

Warning: Strong Language

Robbie's POV

I stood there bewildered at dad's reply. How could he just lie like that? If he doesn't know anything, then why did the kidnapper make a stop in front of our villa? To admire it? Mum felt suspicious too. She asked in a firm tone,

"Ric, a child's life is in danger, and he also happens to be your grandson-"

"I have no grandson," Dad interrupted mum, eyeing her with cold fury.

"I don't care whether you see him as your grandson or not, but he is my son! I won't let you harm him," I said, gritting my teeth and stepping forward, looking at dad with rage.

Dad raised an eyebrow, speaking each word with the chilliness of the north pole, "You think I would do such lowly things like harming a boy!"

"If you did not make my son disappear, then why the hell did the kidnapper stop here?" I asked in an equally cold voice.

"What nonsense!!" Dad burst out, slamming the desk and glaring at me.

"It's not nonsense, dad. The kidnapper's car was caught on traffic surveillance and shown to make a stop here. In a while, the cops will come to question you!" I cried, glowering at him.

"I am very disappointed in you, Ric. I never thought you could fall so low as to hurt a kid just to satisfy your ego," Mum said, fuming.

"You are disappointed in me? I should say the same to you!! I am disappointed at your lack of parenting skills because our son is completely beyond control. Chasing after some cheap gold diggers and accusing his own father!" Dad raged.

"Da-" I started angrily, but mum interjected.

"You have no right to comment on my parenting skills when you barely gave any time to Robbie as a father! All you ever cared about was your business," she replied icily, glaring at dad.

"Why do you think I focussed on the business, if not for the sake of the family?" Dad claimed angrily, "Now this boy is destroying everything our ancestors built just because he is obsessed with an Omega!"

"How on earth am I ruining anything by loving Tony? You are so blinded by the outdated notions of our ancestors to uphold family honor that you want to sacrifice all our happiness!" I yelled.

"Sacrifice?" Dad hissed, "I am trying to do what's best for you. How do you think society would perceive you and the Walker family if you married an Omega? Just because he can give birth, it doesn't change the fact that he is a MAN! You want to make that lowly scum the bride of the Walker family and want me to accept it?"

BANG!

In my fury, I punched the door beside me. Mum gasped at my reaction, but dad only creased his brow, frowning.

"It is not fine to love and marry an Omega as it destroys the Walker family image, but it is fine to live with a person you don't love and destroy both of our lives?" I asked in a low, trembling voice.

"How do you know that if you live and spend time together, you won't fall in love with her?" Dad questioned me back.

"You lived with mum for 26 years. Did you fall in love with her?" I asked back.

The room's temperature dropped quickly in response to this question. Mum looked shocked as she put both her hands over her mouth, shaking her head while I saw dad clutching his fist so tight that his knuckles turned white!

"Shut up, you insolent brat!" Dad hissed acidly

"Shutting me up won't change the truth! You are still upholding outdated notions created by our ancestors, jeopardizing all our lives for the benefit of family honor, and ignoring the fact that our ancestors are long gone."

"Enough!" Dad screamed, his eyes bulging in fury.

Before I could retort, my cell phone rang. I breathed out angrily and pulled my cell phone out. It is Tanya.

"Tanya, what news do you have?" I asked, answering the call and massaging my forehead.

"Mr. Walker, there were no suspicious people around Tony at the hotel. I checked all the CCTVs, and about the interaction with the Chairman, other than the cocktail party, he had had no interaction with him," Tanya answered promptly.

I remembered the cocktail party Tony mentioned where dad was finding an opportunity to humiliate Tony. Tony told me that dad threw the party in honor of some special guest, but I never asked who. I wonder if something happened during the party and Tony didn't tell me. He isn't one to share all his problems and always feels responsible for things he shouldn't be.

"That could barely be called an interaction! He was in the kitchen, right?" I said, feeling a headache coming.

"Uhm," Tanya hesitated, "Didn't Tony tell you, Mr. Walker?"

"Tell me what?" I asked, getting a feeling of foreboding.

"Tony was not in the kitchen that day. The Chairman had personally asked him to host the party," Tanya said, still hesitant.

My eyes opened wide, and I put my hand down from my forehead, "What??"

"Ye-Yes, Mr. Walker. I spoke with Miss Diana, the head host of the event management team, and asked if there was any mishap during the party. Tony fell over the Chairman's special guest, but the Chairman left Tony with a warning," Tanya said, sounding anxious.

Tony FELL on dad's special guest. That is so not him. He would never do anything that would put his work in danger unless there was a reason. I looked at dad, who was surprisingly looking a bit tense. Even mum was scrutinizing dad with astonished eyes. I asked slowly, eyeing dad, "Who was this special guest?"

Tanya paused and then spoke in a surprised tone, "I thought you already knew, Mr. Walker. It is Mr. Stephan Olsen, a well-known-"

I stopped listening as horror settled in my chest. The cell phone in my hand slipped and fell on the floor. I could still hear Tanya's voice from it. Mum blinked in surprise. She asked cautiously,

"Robbie what-"

"Dad, don't tell me you introduced Tony to Mr. Olsen," I asked in a dreaded tone.

Mum's mouth fell open. She looked at Dad in disbelief. Dad was standing, not meeting both of our eyes. His hands clutched behind, looking tense but not answering,

"YOU DID!?" I gasped, feeling my stomach churning, shaking my head in disbelief, "You-you threw Tony and my son to the wolf!" I exclaimed in anger mixed with fear.

"I NEVER handed over your son," Dad suddenly burst, but this time his voice was quite subdued, "I never wanted to involve the boy in anything. I just wanted that Omega out of the way."

"RIC!" my mum gasped in horror, "How could you?"

"You wanted Tony out of the way?" I mumbled, my voice cracking, "Knowing well what kind of a perverted jerk he is? You know very well what he would do if he got his hands on Tony, and yet, you threw him right into his hands. I would have never thought you would fall so low, dad! Thanks to you, now my partner and my son are in danger!"

"I didn't put the boy in danger," dad yelled, banging the table with his fist and looking at us angrily, "Never did I think that he would involve the boy in all this mess, but that sick pervert wanted leverage against that Omega to make him do his biddings. Even after I told him several times to keep the boy out of this, he didn't listen, so I backed out."

"That doesn't change ANYTHING!" I bellowed, "That doesn't whitewash what you have done!! Who you wanted to involve and who you didn't, doesn't change the fact that now both of them are in danger!"

"NO!" dad bellowed, to both my and my mum's surprise, "The boy is NOT in danger! I have him!"
