Chapter 8 - The Middle Of Us (7)

While Rune was at her so called family dinner Caspian was laying on the ground admiring the twinkling dull and bright lights in the midnight sky. When Rune left Caspian thought about everything that he thought was given in the normal life. He expected for Rune to have a loving family and close friends who she could also call family. Caspian's perception on the world change with an instant of Rune's words to him.

If hapiness isn't gaurenteed in their world then why am I trying so hard to find it if it isn't there?

That thought kept repeating in his mind, if hapiness wasn't garunteed then how does he find the one ting that he longed for. Caspian was soon pulled out of his thoughts when he heard rustling from the far side of the forrest, he quickly got up to his feet and gaurded the sacred flower that meant the world to him. An object rolled out of the forest where he heard the noise from and as he walked over to examine the strange object he soon saw a shadow of someone and jumped back in terror. When Caspian jumped back he let out a shriek. Emerging from the shadows of the forest was none other than Rune, who now had the biggest smirk on her face.

"You screamed like a little girl."

"I did not scream, I let out a shriek. Which isnormal considering the fact that you aren't suppose to be here and no one else knows about this place."

Rune extended her hand to help Caspian up and after he was now on his feet Rune bent down and picked up the object she threw.

"Did the dinner end early?"

Caspian could see the change of demenor in her eyes as she looked to the object that was now in her hands.

"I walked out of it, it was just a trap to make me look bad and let my mom look like she tried to fix our relationship. I was stupid to think that she would actually change."

Rune looked up into Caspians deep hazel eyes, she saw confusion in his eyes, and in her what was once bright green eyes were now dull. Caspian saw hurt in her eyes and also one feeling that he also wanted to feel. Happiness. The one thing that Caspian thought was granted living in the normal world and the one thing that he yearned to feel.

With the one feeling that they both wanted so bad, they found comfort within one another. Since the both of them never knew what happiness felt like they did not know that them being together would bring them that one feeling.

On Rune's way home she stopped at a clothing store when Rune went inside she picked out basic stuff for Caspian. Rune got a t shirt, a pair of pants, socks, and some shoes. Rune did not pay full price for them, the store that she was at was her favorite store in town and it was a thrift store. Rune never understood the point of paying 15 bucks for a shirt when you could get one for a third of that price at the thrift store. When Rune would go in and shop she would make a story for each piece she picked up and that would be how she ended up buying the piece or not. However with Caspian's clothing she went in there not looking for a story but looking for something natural that would make him fit in. When Rune was done she made her way towards her house. Once inside her home she noticed that there was no noise and all the lights were off except one. The light that was on was her father's office light, when the light was on it was a clear meaning to stay away from the office. The light on meant that he was having a nice cold drink by himself and it usually meant that he was deep in thought. Rune knew it had to do with what happened earlier at the family dinner, she felt guilty even though she shouldn't feel that way. In the end it all ended back to her mother. She wanted to go and talk to him but she knew it was a bad idea considering the fact that he now has alcohol in his system wouldn't make him the safest person to talk to. So with that Rune made her way upstairs to go to sleep hoping that this day would end faster.
