Chapter 1 - Reflections

Loki watched how the fire devoured the body of the magician with who he just so recently shared a conversation. The death of the magician had been quick, but not painless.

The fire took its time consuming the body, almost like it was enjoying the taste of the frozen corpse that had been pushed within its reach.

Loki sat down in front of it and watched as his previous enemy slowly but surely turned into ashes. His mind we're still filled with thoughts about what had happened to him the past days.

He had just recently embarked on a journey away from his safe home with the dwarves. He didn't want to leave the way he did, but finding out that several guilds were after him made the choice pretty easy.

Before he left his home he had met the Elder of the dwarves. The Elder had the most power out of all the dwarves when it came to their politics and decisions. The Elder is not necessarily the oldest one. The title of the Elder is only passed down to the one who is deemed wisest. However, throughout history, the one who bears the title was often very old. Therefore, the nickname: the Elder.

The Elder, named Thran was an old dwarf with long white hair, beard, and many wrinkles. He had told him how horrible his father had been towards the people and how his father was responsible for the death of thousands.

Thran also told him about how the dwarves took care of Loki regardless of who his father was. This nonetheless all sounded like he was trying to justify them killing his father and to make Loki feel indebted to them. Loki trusted the Elder, he was wise and composed. But at the same time shrewd.

He knew for sure that the Elder was speaking the truth. They had entered a contract that forced them to tell the truth before Thran began telling the story. Yet, the contract didn't stop people from telling the entire truth.

Loki understood that if he wanted to know what truly happened to his family he had to see for himself. He had to search for people who were prepared to share more knowledge about his father than what Thran had done.

However, the people who wanted to share his father's story without only including the terrible things that he had done were limited. The general public hated his guts and would only include the awful things he did after he went mad. They all saw him as someone who had betrayed the people, drinking the blood of a monster.

But he was not ready to die for that information. He was not so reckless that he was prepared to lose his life in search of the full story. His primary target was to survive and live a good life. His father's background was simply something that he saw as interesting. He wouldn't mind to find out the truth if he could do so without too much danger.

Nevertheless, if he wanted to live a happy and free life he needed power. The power to be free from all threats that would possibly want to harm him.

Therefore, what Loki required to do right now was to find a way to obtain more power. He wanted to be so powerful that no one could face him. He wanted to live freely and be happy. Freed from the shackles that his father had placed on him. And he felt no obligation to retake his places as Emperor.

The fire had now almost finished its meal. Only the bones remained. But Loki was in no hurry to leave the cave. The snowstorm was still raging on outside.

What Loki understood was that he was a genius when it came to fighting and magic. After all, he had the Emperor's blood and potential within him. But as if that were not sufficient, he also had the instincts and ability of a Sylph, a monster that belongs in legends.

His potential was limitless and he had a big chance of passing his father in battle ability. Had had a shot at passing his father, the Emperor who once had the world within his grasp. The Emperor who was summoned to this world as the chosen one. The Emperor who's the race from the other world was superior in both magic and fighting.

Now, this bloodline lived on within Loki's body. And his potential and talent had been passed on towards someone with the powers of a Sylph.

Loki was well aware of his potential. And he knew that hard work and a small amount of luck would allow him to reach the peak of all magicians. He could stand at the same point which his father once stood. Becoming the Emperor. It was the dream of almost every child growing up.

To Loki, however, that sounded like suffering. The amount of work that an Emperor had to do we're not very attractive in Lokis eyes.

His potential could allow him to join prestigious guilds and ultimately even find a magician mentor. But the risk of doing so was high. His bloodline contained many secrets that could give away his true identity. Not only that, but it could also give away the fact he is partially monster to a certain extent. There were high risks if he wanted to join a guild.

He also had no idea how a guild worked or how to join one. He lacked a lot of knowledge about the world after spending all his life within and around the mountains with dwarfs.

He wanted information about the outside world, and the best way to do so was to experience it himself. Luckily, he knew that the guilds didn't know his face.

The magician that now barely ashes remained of wore a paper on him with a drawing on it. The drawing of a young man that was supposed to be Loki. The words "Emperors Son" stood at the bottom of the paper. The drawing was well made, it was very realistic. The only thing was that it was nowhere close to what Loki looked like.

It was clearly a wanted poster, although no bounty could be seen.

They had probably made the drawing based upon the appearance of his mother and father. But they were far off his actual appearance.

Loki and the guilds didn't know yet that he looked nothing like his parents. His skin was smooth and no facial hair could be seen and he had a very attractive face and body features. His hair was blonde and his eyes green. His father and mother, on the other hand, both had dark-colored hair and brown eyes. The reason for this difference was because of his Sylph blood. He looked like a human-sized fairy without its wings.

His appearance had been affected more by the Sylphs blood than his actual parents. Therefore, the guild's guess of his appearance was far off.

Loki could let out a sigh of relief once he looked at the drawing again. Knowing that they had no idea of his appearance made him relax. Now he didn't have to wear ridiculous disguises every time he entered a place with people.

All this thinking and analyzing of the situation made him tired. So he stood up and walked over to the cave wall, sat down in front of it and closed his eyes as he leaned his back towards it.
