Lying Flat on her back Angelina Looks at the collapsed ceiling as parts of a massive body shaped like a large bird with feather like scales of blue and green began to rapidly deteriorate. Translucent threads snapped, disconnecting the beast from everything around it causing it to disintegrate faster and snapping at an accelerating rate until finally it disappeared as glowing dust particles of green gold and blue. It was only when her breath calmed that the victory screen appeared in her HUD.

Concept Shard…
Notice: Alexis, ruling goddess of Animus has taken notice of you.
Notice: Alexis has arrived.
In a flash of bright light, a woman in an elaborate dress, a cross between eastern and western design and looking as if it belonged in a science fiction story instead of a fantasy setting, stepped into view. As soon as Angelina was in view though she grabbed the girl on the ground into a bear hug.
"Thank you thank you thank you for finally defeating a concept boss! Oops, I mean for freeing one of my authorities. I am now free to aid you children in the development of the world and the removal of the scourge of the natives." Coughing in her hand she recomposes herself and then speaks in a serious voice, of course not before giving another squeeze.
"In defeating the Concept of fate, you are no longer bound by the chains of your world and are free to decide your future. As such I shall answer one wish. What is yours? It can be for the life you currently live or for the one in your dreams(Reality). Tell me and I will grant it to the best of my ability."
This was what Angelina was aiming for. When the game first came out the owner of the game used his in game character Animus The First Magician to offer a reward to the fist person to defeat a conceptual boss solo. It was not only an in game reward but a prize that can be redeemed in real life as well. As long as he was able and it didn't put him at a disadvantage, Animus offered to do just about anything for the person to defeat a conceptual boss.
Unfortunately, even after 10 years of the game being active, no one managed so far. It was only when Angelina discovered the accompanying quest that she understood the reason and it only happened because of a silly role playing quirk that she abides by. She was a succubus, one of the evil races and yet she had a positive karmic value high enough to become a hero and it was all done in 10 lives, fulfilling the conditions for activating the quest Against Fate. Traveling the world and completing the chain quest step by step she finally gained the ability necessary to survive having her karmic threads severed, Identity Conceptualization. It reduced the damage done by a conceptual boss by 90% allowing her to survive 9 conceptual attacks without needing to heal as normally they are 1 hit kills of 100% HP damage.
But enough about that. It was time to answer Angelina's wish.
"In real life, in my (dreams), I am sickly. I can't move my body much anymore and there is little hope for me to recover. There are methods to treat me but I currently can't afford it and even if I could, I would still need to go through rehabilitation just to live a normal life." She started, her eyes flickering. She didn't really know why she was telling an AI this. Maybe because she seemed so real and yet she knew this was just a game and she wasn't real. After all, it was no secret this strangely realistic game was developed by a single person. "Heh, and even if I succeed in recovering after that there is the problem of not being able to get a job. I haven't been working for 5 years, bed ridden for 4 and a half. Even if I can still remember how I did my job I doubt I would be hired simply because of the amount of time I was absent from the field." Tears rolled down her cheek, the pent up emotions were released due to the chance for a decent future.
"I guess what I really want is a chance to start over. Get healthy and get a job. Sorry for rambling. It's just I guess I have hope now. Maybe I can finally stop relying on others to live another day." Shaking her head, Angelina than looked at the goddess who was apparently lost in thought. The goddess looked up and smiled an innocent smile. "Healthy body, a chance to start over and a job opportunity? I can do something about that. How about being an Apprentice to Animus? I can call my father and have him set things up? You will have to go through vigorous training and adapting to a new environment but we can take care of the moving and other miscellaneous things. What do you say?"
"I accept!" she replied with no hesitation. Had she thought about things more, she would have renegotiated but as they say, "Hind sight is 20/20." Accepting the rewards and checking her inventory, she clicked the log off button ready to fall asleep. The log off sequence proceeded as normal, the world around her falling away but this time her character didn't disappear. Instead, a new environment replaced the old and the castle she battled in was thoroughly ravaged by the passage of time.
"Crap."
