Chapter 5 - 4 Betrayal

Looking at his status, Cyan had realized that the notification had been correct, even his intelligence has raised by 2. Even though his mother had said the limit was 10? What was going on here?

Name: Cyan Wolfbane

Clan: wolf

Age: 20 days

Level: 0

Evolution points: 0

Strength: 4

Dexterity: 4

Constitution: 4

Intellect: 12

Wisdom: 6

He could feel a massive power boost, his physical stats had doubled, and his mental stats had received a massive boost as well. From what his mom had said mental stats were the hardest to max out, as they were stagnant, and couldn't be raised after they had reached their peak, around middle childhood. His wisdom stat should have been stuck at 4, but there it was a 6 staring at him, not to mention the impossible 12 in his intelligence.

Perhaps the reincarnation gods had not given him the raw end of the stick, maybe he did not have an incredible system that would give him over powered powers like he had read on web novel on so many sleepless work nights, but maybe the limits that applied to other people did not apply to him. He could only hope, as he looked down at the blood red sand from the stone slab.

He had long since seen small movements in the sand, obviously something was devouring his prize underneath the sand. He sighed as he looked at the quaking sand in front of him. He could not beat those gators on their own turf. Walking to the other end of the stone slab he jumped down onto the sand. His paws burrowed in the sand as he landed, but nearly as far as they would have before the gator. The warm sand feeling quite comfortable on his paws. He smiled as he lightly stepped through the sand, his paws almost gliding over the sand as they were slightly buried in the sand. He felt so much lighter as he walked! This must be a benefit of the increased dexterity.

He began to jog through the sand, the resistance of the sand much less noticeable as he moved. Each step far less restricted than before. The feeling was addicting, the sharp rise in stats. He craved more. He justified his actions by the rumbling in his stomach, he hadn't even been able to eat his last victim.

His wolfish grin plastered his face as he dashed forward, sand flying behind him like a miniature dust storm. He felt so free out here, free from the troubles of humanity that plagued him back on earth, free from bills, and the worries of a boss. Free from the wailing of his siblings.

A familiar scent wafted into his nose as Cyan banked through the sand, a dust cloud blowing into the wind. In the distance four figures escorting several young wolves approached. Their scent was familiar, as if was the scent he had smelled when leaving the village this morning. The scent of the villagers who had been most hateful towards him.

He had seen them, and there was no doubt that the beast men had seen him as well. Among their numbers were a hawkman, a porcupine as well as two coyotes. The coyotes did not worry Cyan, as they were far inferior to the wolves they had chained, perhaps it gave them a sense of superiority, or perhaps they simply did not care, but the wolves were their slaves. The hawk was the brains of the group, though the saying birdbrains existed for a reason. The porcupine was the tank. Their defense was not the best, but to attack it you would have to take damage yourself. The risk was simply not worth it.

The party approached, the wolves howling as they senses my presence, rushing to meet me. They did not growl, or try to intimidate me as they approached, they were familiar with me. On the outside the only difference between us was the collar they had on. One of the coyotes began to speak as they approached "it's that beast of a son Vivi keeps around. How can she even keep it loose?"

"Its a damn shame she's always around, or I would have collared the beast a long time ago."

The eagle laughed "well she isn't around now, I cant see any sign of life for miles around. Porpi go grab the little pup, it will blend in with the others. "

Cyan growled when he heard those words, his ears lying back on his head. It did not take much to realize these men were both stronger and faster than he was, however another evil plan began to hatch in his mind.

Cyan ran, leaving a trail of dust behind him as he dashed through the sand. Behind him a look of shock was plastered on the faces of the group, followed by laughter from the group. The hawkman chuckled as he spoke "a mere pup thinks he can outrun the pack, unleash the hounds boys"

The coyote brothers sent their commands to the wolves, but the wolves did not respond, going as far as to sit down and scratch themselves. One of the brothers approached the wolves, striking them with a whip. The wolf responded with a growl, but took no further action. His brother finally intervened "its useless Wiles, the wolves won't attack their brethren, no matter how many times you beat them."

"Just more proof that the little pup is little more than a beast" the hawkman responded "we will do this the hard way, get moving, it would take long to catch the little pup, he's not even level one yet."

Behind him Cyan could sense that the group had finally taken action, thankfully he had always been friendly with the wolves those coyotes kept as slaves, and the chance of them taking action was small. He grinned as he saw the giant slab in front of him. The red stain of sand was clear in his sights.

He paused on the bloody sand and started digging. He ignored the quaking underneath him as he dug, covering up the bloody sand as he went. Behind him the group of beast men were almost on top of him, he turned to them and growled as they approached. One of the coyotes was in the lead, and lunged at him, a collar in his hand. Cyan dodged out of the way, lunging at his arm he drew blood with his bite.

Warm blood splattered on the sand, and he grinned, jumping on to the slab as he watched the coyote grab his arm in pain. Behind him, the hawkman shouted "what are you doing dumb ass? Go get him!!"

Inside cyan laughed as he knew they would never make it. The quaking sand erupted as 3 of the giant sand gators dove to the surface, blood splattered as the coyote was ripped in half by two of the gators. The screaming of his companions attracted the attention of the gators and they swallowed the coyotes corpse.

The remainder of the crew did not last long, and the wolves made there way up to the rock, laying beside Cyan. Two notifications interrupted his happy moment.
