They got lucky that day. They caught several fish big enough to be called monsters. Jake caught the biggest monster of them all: a fish that weighed at least five pounds.
They killed it and put it on the ground and were bending over and admiring it, when they became aware of footsteps approaching from the direction of the cabin.
It was Irina and Olga. They both looked very solemn, and for a moment Li Yang was afraid that the girls were about to announce they were withdrawing from the project. He'd come to believe both Olga and Irina would be very useful in the New World.
He still didn't quite believe that they were as skilled as they claimed to be, in virtually every skill needed for survival. But they were determined and resilient: two qualities that were essential for survival in the New World.
Remembering that Jake had appointed him the Speaker in their dealings with the girls, he stepped forward and said:
