Over the next few days, Cruz got to know Jelly quite well. Jelly did spend some time away on business, but he was always back by the afternoon. He conducted a couple of hours' worth of business in his war room, and then appeared to be free for the day. Cruz thought that Jelly was either totally incompetent or a walking lesson in effective management. He was determined to find out which was true.
He began on the afternoon following Susanto's departure. Jelly was absent during lunch, which made Cruz paranoid: Jelly's absence from the meal, the absence of someone who clearly loved to eat, could carry numerous dark implications.
