Cruz had an excellent night. He slept for over ten hours, and woke up feeling very refreshed. The hotel bed was so comfortable! It was like sleeping on cloud.
There was no hot water in the bathroom, but Cruz didn't mind. Running, drinkable water was a luxury. He'd been taking it for granted, everyone had been taking it for granted. He remembered the taste of the water from the brackish spring on Henderson Island, and shuddered.
They'd all been very spoiled by the time the catastrophe came along. Electricity, freely available water, more than enough food—people actually claimed they had a right to all that! They even claimed they had THE RIGHT TO BE HAPPY.
