Chapter 12: Hanz Selfish Quest
Liam looked at Hanz. He was another good looking NPC. With his pale turquoise medium length hair, pale blue eyes and soft pink lips.
"What are you looking at?"
"Nothing. Just admiring how good looking you are."
"Thanks, man. So are you hungry?"
"No."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"Good."
Hanz happily ate his fish. Hanz also studied Liam for awhile. 'He looked weak, but has a potential.' was Hanz honest thought. 'He might be the one to succeed me.'
Hanz dusted himself and looked at Liam. He was deep in thought that he forgot that he was staring at Liam. "Good. Are you a patient person?"
"Yes."
"Man of few words, I like that. So what do you want to be?"
"I want to be a swordsman? I want to go to an adventure and have fun while growing stronger."
"Hmm, alright. I've decided. I'll train you."
[Hanz Selfish Quest]
Hanz Krow, Blade Master, wanted to train you as his apprentice. He wanted to test your limit and potential.
Mission: Pass the 1 year training
Reward: Hanz Krow Approval
Failure: --
"How about skinning the beasts and monsters, acquiring the meat and rare materials from them? I need to learn how to gather materials without damaging them."
"Of course, it would be included in your training. Being a swordsman doesn't mean that you only know how to use a sword. You also need to know where to cut and how to cut them properly."
"Then, lets get started. I will be your apprenctice."
"Very Good. Follow me."
Hanz started to run without any signal. Liam could only try to follow Hanz. Liam didn't know that every monster and beast dispersed at least 20 feet around them. Hanz released his aura to let Liam follow without getting into trouble.
While, the monitoring team were again in for a surprise but not because of Liam. Another five individuals cause the team to be excited.
The three were from US, Australia, and China respectively. They triggered a change class. Unique Quest for unique class. It took at least a year to change from normal class to unique class. But if they fail, then they couldn't try it anymore.
Dragon Knight, Summoner, and Pope . Three unique classes. Each of their own type.
While the remaining two triggered the quest for the first arc. A lot of main quest were triggered since the start of the update but it was only about the City they were in or about the a certain NPC.
There were truly a lot of gifted individuals on the Advent of Heroes. Only five months remaining before the very first professional league would be hosted by the company.
These five individuals might be one of the champion for the very first league. Not only the monitoring team, but all of the staff inside the company was excited by the change these five could bring.
The PR team once again enjoyed the thrill they could release about these five individuals. The development team with the planning team discussed about the future addition of Unique classes or better yet Legendary class.
But it would only be a truly success if the director approved it. Rain could see the excitement these staffs were having.
He could only smile and log in from the game. He couldn't let these 6 individuals including Liam to left him behind. He might not be able to change his class yet because of the contract but he already triggered the quest for a unique class.
Of course, he told the director not to let his achievements known that's why nobody knew except him and the AI.
Hanz could see the potential within Liam. He never complained even though they were almost 30 feet away. Hanz speed was slow for him. He was after all an NPC that was stronger than most NPC Heroes.
"We're almost there. Keep it up."
Liam's stamina was depleting. They were running since 3 hours ago. They already exited the Redroot Forest. They were almost at the border between two kingdoms.
"Are we allowed to cross the border?"
"Of course. They were on a state of peace. At least it looked like they were. Don't worry I am here. They wouldn't dare."
Liam confirmed that Hanz was special. But, he really needed to take a break. His stamina was already at the bottom.
"Let's take a break. You haven't eaten yet. It's already night. We should rest for awhile and continue after an hour."
Liam could only breathe a sigh of relief. Liam forgot that he didn't have any supplies with him. The meat couldn't be transferred outside the beginner village.
He only had his sword and clothes. He didn't see any monsters nearby. He could only look for fruits nearby. Unfortunately, he didn't find one. He might die from hunger.
Hanz chuckled and tossed a meat to Liam. "Eat."
Liam caught the dry meat and ate it. It was preserved well but it was salty. He was grateful so he thanked Hanz and ate his fill. At least the meat was big enough to let his stamina recover.
Liam panted and showed that he really was tired. He needed to act like one. He needed to fully recover his stamina. He might really die on the road.
"Alright. Rest properly. After 3 hours we'll move."
Hanz made a bonfire out of nowhere. Well, this man was really mysterious. Liam could feel the heat coming from the fire. He leaned on a nearby tree and closes his eyes.
He logged out. He knew that he needed to log out for the character to truly rest. Liam saw the time was only 1:25PM. He checked the website for awhile and saw another post.
There were 2 people who triggered the main quest. Liam wasn't interested. He browsed about the guild wars. He saw that there were currently 3 on going wars. They were Blood Legacy against Seven Colored Bow, Lavendetta against Winter World, and Peaceful Daytime against Thorns and Roses.
The guilds that were on a war weren't really on the top guilds except the Thorns and Roses. It was an all female guild. It was built by a female tycoon of Germany.
Liam wanted to find a guild that wasn't aggressive like those top guilds. There were currently 20 official guilds but most of the top guilds from other games weren't registered yet.
Liam forgot to ask if there was a guild available on Oz Town. Well, unfortunately, he might not come back there after a year.
Liam surfed the website for other news about the game but there was nothing he learnt from the players posts. It was all about their experience and how the skill lacked information such as Mana used, Cooldown, and etc.
He agreed about those complaints but that was also the uniqueness of the game. They let the players explore it themselves. Activating a skill was also dependent on the user. Exploiting weakness, accuracy, even the most well known normal attack needed their own skill to land an attack.
The game has its own proficiency and skill level. It also has its own skill completion. Higher completion resulted to higher proficiency. Proficiency was equal to Experience. They only changed the term to make it more unique.
When Liam logged inside the game, he saw that Hanz was also sleeping. 'Well, that was a first.' was his first thought. He checked his stamina and it was 67/100. He was ready to go. At least he could last for 2 hours.
Hanz opened his eyes after three hours passed. "Let's go."
Liam followed Hanz. It was still the same. No monsters nor beast could be seen around them. Players were also non-existent. It almost felt like they were alone in this world.
Liam snickered because of his thoughts. Liam could only sped up because he almost lost Hanz when he was at his own world.
When it was almost Midnight they arrived at a city. "Rest first in an inn. Meet me at the plaza tomorrow morning."
Hanz vanished from his sight. Liam could see how enormous the city was. But, his character was tired. He could only look for an inn after he paid the entrance fee. He could only stay at a cheap inn.
He was truly poor. Liam finally found an inn with the cheapest price at 1 copper per stay. Liam went inside the room and once again logged out.
