Chapter 103 - Blind Eyes (1)

"Owe you my life? I don't think I needed your help." Sharmaine's eyes were locked onto Jason. Now that she thought about it, his facial features seemed familiar, so he must've been a part of her blurry past. His eyes were the same, filled with nothing but arrogance. He had the same feel of normality, excluding the warmth and ease.

"You're despicable." Her brown eyes were sharp; her back was cold; her feet were tingling as she held her pair of glimmering high heels. At the brief moment of silence, her presence was immediately gone from Jason.

The characters in her story was meddling too much in the current life she perceived. The vast sea of people, who turned their eyes towards her was jeering, but she did not care. Both her body and mind were tired from tonight's event. She walked, shamelessly barefooted, toward the exit, where a group of wealthy adults whispered.

'Who was she?'

'She's disgraceful.'

'Why did she attend this event?'

She was disgusted; her stomach swirled inside. Her motivation to walk further collapsed as she found the car that they rode was not at the parking lot. She stared at the empty lot, trying to not let the exhaustion eat away her vision.

She sighed. "What a night. First, the sad tale of a father, second, an overprotective woman toward her love interest, then an arrogant, mysterious man. Add to that, a disappearing mother."

She looked at the distance to see the beautiful full moon shining in the midst of the night and Jason. He was patiently waiting for somewhat, but as Sharmaine considered him energy-wasting, she tried he absolute best to avoid him, however, she was spotted the moment he turned sideways.

They locked eyes, and before they could realize, he already lifted her up. She thought about what he was doing as his aura suddenly changed. His green eyes were screaming warmth, and so did his tough arms that carried her all the way to his car. She wanted to argue, but was crushed by the heavy silence that surrounded them.

He strapped her in, and started the engine of his car. Their destination was unknown to Sharmaine, but the amount of anticipation created by her mind did not dissipate. Her heart pounded faster, but eventually found herself sleeping up until she felt the car stop. Her vision was slightly fuzzy as she found herself at a park, the sun already rising.

"Where are we?"

He looked at her filled with worry. "You don't remember this place?"

She shook her head as she gazed through the place that breezed cool air. The grass was probably green, the noise was non-existent, the empty and damp wooden swings and the tall trees danced along with the gentle winds as she opened the car door and laid her feet on the gritty sand.

It felt nice as she slowly stepped on the slightly wet grass. "I feel like I remember now." Her breath was warm as she felt his gaze over her shoulders. His eyes were wide and filled with happiness.

"Really? What is this place?"

She smiled warmly and glanced upon the rising sun. "I can't tell."
