Alexandra couldn't contain her frustration any longer. She wanted to shout and make Sharmaine explain herself and her actions, though she thought that there would be simply no need for that. It did not even cross her mind that she was completely unaware what had happened to Sharmaine six months ago.
"I am not quite sure of what you're saying," she said, her voice quivering with every slight movement made.
"Playing dumb? If I were you, I would rather not."
"Alexandra, that's quite enough," Denzel finally said. His voice was not roaring throughout, but it was firm. His eyes were serious as if his patience was boiling down. Alexandra shrugged the conversation, pulling Denzel away. He wanted to struggle but he could not because he was afraid of hurting her.
When they got into a secluded area, he yanked her hand away. "What are you doing?"
Alexandra paused for a moment before speaking. "Do you seriously not remember her face?"
Denzel sighed and gently grabbed her shoulders. His eyes were locked into hers that it made her mouth shut even though more words wanted to come out. "Look, I don't know her. Let's not fight about this, okay?"
His voice was tender and sweet. It made Alexandra wonder more about their friendly relationship that she wanted to advance. She wished she had taken him before everything instead of lying to herself and to others.
"You're amazingly blind." She pushed him away gently, though she looked at him with dangerous eyes. "I cannot let you be taken. Never."
Her words widened Denzel's eyes. He did not know what she was talking about. "Alexandra, what are you—"
"I'll go back," she said in a firm and cold voice whilst she turned her back. She resisted the urge to cry because of a feeling she did not know. She was too ignorant of her actions rather; she was too lenient when it came to Denzel.
Denzel stared at Alexandra with a puzzled look. He tried to figure out what was causing distress to her, yet all he thought did not make sense. His mind flashed back to the moment, where Alexandra asked if he recognized that woman's face, and thought that it might've been just a very unusual coincidence.
He paused for a brief moment in order to grasp the situation. He questioned the fact that Alexandra knew Sharmaine enough to spit concerning words in front of her—it seemed odd, because Sharmaine did not seem to know anyone from his circle at all.
The hall started becoming a buzzy park; it was not noisy, but it wasn't silent either. The people flocked around him as soon as the lights turned on. People congratulated him on his big success, and some even wished that his prosperity will continue until the day he passes.
He gave them smiles that could make almost any woman fall for him, and with his age nearing thirty, many old people asked his opinion on marriage and family life.
"I would love to do that when the time comes."
