Sharmaine widened her eyes. Did a famous model just flirted and offered to have s*x with someone in public? She's crazy, Sharmaine thought as she smiled through what Shaine had just said.
She gripped Denzel's arm tighter. "Well, pleased to meet you too, Ms. Davis, but as you can see I have my partner for tonight, so I will not be needing you." That statement made Sharmaine jump up and down in her mind as if she had just won a fight.
Shaine's expression changed from good to not-so-good upon hearing Denzel's words. She was just dissed in public. "Well, that's great of you, Mr. Suarez. I hope you enjoy this event with that partner of yours." Shaine walked away trying to retain her composure.
"Her appearance is prettier than her soul," Sharmaine said, gently clinging onto Denzel's arm. For some reason, it provided her that little warmth she just needed.
"I think the same goes for you."
"Excuse me?!"
"In reverse."
Sharmaine felt her cheeks burning. How could one say that in public and in person? "Eh? I thought you saw me as a man," she teased.
He looked away. "Well, today's not the time to see you as a man."
Sharmaine let out a respectable laugh. "You girly man. Anyways, how are we going to lure that fish if you dissed it in public?"
"I am not a girly man, and don't worry, I have a plan."
"What is it?"
He pointed towards a hallway on Shaine's side. "See that hallway? You just have to go there. Alone."
Sharmaine suddenly froze. "W-What? Why? You reminded me to try my best not to wander alone."
"I know, but Ms. Davis has that kind of attitude. An attitude where she gets really hostile towards female friends of mine."
"That's wild."
"She is from the wild west."
Sharmaine let out a giggle and nodded. "Then what happens?"
"You confront her and I'll go there myself. She'll be cornered and we'll get our answers."
The plan sounded simple, so she nodded and slipped her arm away from Denzel's, she ran until she bumped Shaine, who held a glass of wine which spilled all over her.
"Oh, I'm sorry." She took long strides towards the hallway without looking back and disappeared in the darkness. Denzel kept watch as he was aware that the event will start any time now. He had to make sure he gets there before Sharmaine gets into trouble.
As expected, Shaine's temper blew up as she heavily placed the wine glass on a table beside her. She had never felt so humiliated in her life; she stomped to the hallway without caution as the event started. The lights dimmed down as spotlights highlighted the center stage with the host delivering his opening remarks.
While the host spoke, Sharmaine leaned on the wall, confidence towering her presence. Would the fish fall for the bait?
She heard loud footsteps that seemed to get louder despite of the loud noise. She gazed to the woman who appeared, Shaine, who also seemed pissed about what had happened with the wine.
Sharmaine took a step forward. "Ah, nice to meet you, Ms. Davis," she smirked, "Or should I say, Ms. Meyer?"
Shaine's expression changed drastically. "Who are you?" She stood up with her pride, trying to conceal her nervousness.
"Well, I could not tell you anything about me, but perhaps you could tell me something about you?" Sharmaine gave an annoying smirk.
"And why would I do that?"
Sharmaine gestured sarcastically. "Hmm, I wonder. Ah, maybe because I could be your greatest enemy?"
"Ha, a nobody like you would be my enemy? How low of you. Not because you seduced Denzel with those breasts of yours, doesn't mean that you're one of us."
"Well, I prefer seducing rather than leeching off money from the parents of your crush."
Shaine's furious expression solidified. "What do you mean?" She took small steps towards her.
What Sharmaine did was working. All she needed to do now is to provoke her more so that she would start to fight, and then Denzel would appear and their problems are solved. She was confident that everything was fine; that was what she thought.
