The class ended just like any other day, yet the atmosphere feels heavy. That's how it felt for Yamamoto Mizuki, a senior at Shimizudani High School. Now and then, he looks at the window beside him and sees some part of the city turning black and white. Of course, it will stand out 'cause the skies outside the window shouldn't be all black and white when it only covers a certain part of the city.
Mizuki: "That's the third time that area turned dull this day, huh?"
Of course, it is not the first time for him to witness some bizarre situations such as this. It might be weird and bizarre for others but him, he saw this often and he thought it was a normal thing for everyone but, he was wrong. Years, before he realized that this phenomenon isn't normal, was when he was in middle school during his introduction as soon as he moved from Okinawa to Osaka.
Mizuki: "I wonder what is the cause of all of that." He sighed and up, he goes.
His "friends" are waiting for him right at the door of their classroom. He never really considered them as real friends for they are all there just for him alone. Of course, he knew all of it for he had developed a weird talent of reading other people's minds just by their action and behavior that's why he was aiming at psychology, the only course that fits him the most.
Yamamoto Mizuki is not the athletic type of person but what these "friends" of him were attracted to was his charisma, popularity, and looks. He is not the model-type of a person but he has an attractive feature considering his mediocrity. Even not being athletic, he has the charisma that attracts anyone for his nature of smiling at all times despite what's within him is completely different. He is a role model student if you will look at it, but he wasn't perfect.
Mizuki: "Are you guys tired of waiting?" he approaches them with a smile in his face.
Friend A: "Not really, we were just talking about what to do after class, right?"
Of course, someone has to say something in response and after saying all of that, the others were forced to agree on it.
Mizuki: "That's great then, Yuko!" he smiled in response to her remark even though deep inside, he knew the others were just forced to agree on her.
In any case, Yamanagi Yuko is Friend A. She was popular among other girls and also to men but her personality isn't that great. She's what you'll call as a bitch. She likes to order people around as if she runs the whole show and she's always showing off in front of Mizuki, hoping to be his partner for getting a secured future. In any case, she likes to play with men and rumors say that she wasn't a virgin anymore and lost it in an orgy with his friends.
After hearing Mizuki's "praise" on her, she blushed to know that Mizuki meant what he said while others just shrugged it off.
The other "friends" that surround him are Miyuki Kaoru, Nagato Shiiba, and Hyoudo Asahi.
Miyuki Kaoru was only beside him because of his popularity. To be popular with other people and to be recognized by some, she sticks around him for that sole purpose. Other than that, there are no bad rumors about her.
Nagato Shiiba is the ace of the basketball club in their school and he also took part in the rumored orgy that happened before that includes Yuko. He is known for being popular but rumors also have it that he is a bully especially those who are beneath him. The only thing that keeps him on sticking with Mizuki is to plan for his downfall sometime, making him the most popular in the whole school.
Hyoudo Asahi is the captain of the judo club and the only reason he was beside Mizuki is that he was asked to do it by Mizuki's parents himself. Among all the other "friends" Mizuki have, Asahi is the only one that didn't like to be around him because he will stick like a sore when he was with them. If only he was given the chance if he was willing to partake or not, he'll choose not to, but because of his family's situation, he has to earn money thus, the only useful thing he can only offer Mizuki is to protect him in harm's way.
These "friends" that Mizuki have are waiting for him to go somewhere after class so he suggested something he shouldn' suggest. Of course, he knew all of their objective and he has already a plan to counter it so it won't inflict any damage to him hence, it will for those who will try and do something to him.
Mizuki: "Shall we go to the city and go for karaoke, what do you say?"
Yes, he was raring to go to the spot where most of the changes in color happen. After hearing them, the others were delighted except for Asahi.
Yuno: "Yes! I think we should go there too." she said as she clings her body towards Mizuki.
The other's expression as they see Yuno clings to him wasn't a shock but disgust.
Kaoru: "I think so too, right Mizuki?" she said as she pulls Mizuki away from Yuno.
Shiiba: "Then, leave the drinks to me!" he said as he puts his arm around Mizuki while wearing a fake smile in his face.
Mizuki acted to follow through their acts and it was natural for him as he dealt with these circumstances before.
While the other was faking their approach towards him, Asahi slowly brings himself near Mizuki.
Asahi: "Don't forget, you have to be home early today as your mother had ordered me to do." he whispered in his right ear as he walks near him naturally.
Mizuki only nods as a response. Among these people, Asahi is the only one he can trust for he can see that he is the only person who isn't faking his interaction with him.
As they go and make their way to the city's center, the whole street turned black and white and it made Mizuki feel his very first encounter with excitement. As soon as the street turned black and white, he realizes that the world around him stopped. He looked in circles to see if there's anyone beside him who can move in this stopped animation but he fails to.
A minute passed by, the ground in that dull world starts to shake and he began to see some moving objects. He looked on it as clear as it gets and he can see some creature, a big one flying in the sky and as it landed on the ground, it stepped on some people. By the time the creature stepped on those people, they all vanished like stardust. A faint moment but he was sure, he saw a flame that passed by in front of him.
Mizuki: "What the hell was that creature?" is the only words that he managed to say.
Moments passed by and he saw flame cutting the creature into pieces until it finally turns into dust.
Mizuki: "What was that flame?" In a state of shock, the only words he can say were the words that form in his mind.
All of a sudden, a girl was in front of him. He wasn't shocked about the fact that there was someone who can move in that realm beside him but because of the flaming hair of the girl in front of him. As with his shocked expression, the girl was shocked by the fact that someone besides he was able to move in that suspended animation.
