"We need to leave!" I exclaimed. The noises from below gets louder and harsher, men screaming and banging against the walls. I could not help but pity them. They had no weapons, no shelter, nothing to defend themselves with from whatever was coming.
As minutes go by, the door hinges were slowly giving way. There was no other choice but to escape from the house. I stood up, not caring whether I was noticed, and search for the entrance of an attic. Most of the doors in the house were either bolted shut or were on the floor. I tried breaking into some locked rooms but to no avail, the door would not budge. I had to also consider what the loud sounds would attract. The world out there was not what I had remembered when I closed my eyes.
I found a small room, no bigger for more than two people to squeeze into. The entrance to the attic was untouched, but too high for either of us to reach. I sighed. I exited the room, checking on the situation that was evolving outside.
