Chapter 59 - The Mysterious [Jia]

Zhonghai University, located in the eastern district of Zhonghai City, is one of the top prestigious universities in the country. Once upon a time, getting into Zhonghai University was a dream for countless students nationwide.

Matching its reputation, Zhonghai University boasts not only an enormous campus but also state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure.

Walking through the campus, Mu Zi couldn't help but reflect. Back in his school days, getting into Zhonghai University was a dream he had ardently yearned for. Now, years later, he had set foot here, not as a student, but on business.

Business. Mu Zi couldn't help but smirk at the thought. Reflecting on his past, killing Liu Jie was purely to save Yezi and help the boss reconcile with his wife; killing Chu Xuelin was out of loyalty to his friend Li Tian; killing Mina was for revenge. And now, formally accepting a murder contract as a business transaction was a first for him. However, he hadn't expected his first client to be a student, and a poor one at that. So, this first job was destined to be a low-profit venture.

The client found Mu Zi online, sending him an email detailing her story and hoping he could help her. Her name was Lin.

"I only have a thousand yuan, my savings from living frugally and doing part-time jobs. That's all I have," Lin confessed in her email when discussing the payment for the murder contract.

A thousand yuan... While not wealthy, Mu Zi, due to various circumstances, was accustomed to dealing with sums of tens or even hundreds of thousands. A thousand yuan for a life seemed absurdly low. Yet, he accepted the job.

No particular reason, perhaps he was momentarily moved by righteous indignation after hearing Lin's story. In any case, he agreed to help Lin for a thousand yuan, to kill Wen Jun. Wen Jun was the name of Lin's beastly teacher.

The first business deal and it's non-profitable, Mu Zi mused wryly. Not a good start for someone looking to make a living out of this line of work.

"If you end up struggling for basic necessities, you should come back to Binbei with me," Ouyang Liuse teased after reviewing the details of this mission...

Despite knowing there was no money to be made, the young couple immediately plunged into planning as soon as they arrived in Zhonghai City.

The first step was to verify the client's identity. This was crucial for their own safety and had to be done with utmost caution. He couldn't work for a completely unknown client; what if the client was a police officer? This step was like testing the waters to determine whether the deal could proceed.

Zhonghai University was indeed vast. Mu Zi spent over an hour touring it, covering only a large portion, not even the whole campus. Fortunately, he wasn't particularly interested in sightseeing. His purpose was to understand the layout of the school. Now, the locations of lecture halls, offices, dormitories, staff quarters, library, and school gates were all vividly mapped out in his mind.

Looking at the increasingly scorching sun and checking the time on his phone, it was 11:20 AM. According to Lin's emails and messages, in another ten minutes, it would be their lunch break...

A thousand yuan to kill someone. Does such an assassin even exist in this world?

If it weren't for the self-proclaimed [Jia] agreeing to kill first and get paid later, Lin would never believe such a thing could happen.

But now, [Jia] had agreed... Lin walked silently towards the school's back garden, her heart torn. It could be some perverted boy's cruel joke, but she still believed it...

As she walked, she glanced at her watch. 11:25 AM, five minutes until the agreed meeting time. She looked at the book in her hand, "Angel of Death," the recent work of the low-profile writer David_Tieku, which [Jia] and she had agreed upon as the meeting sign. Even if [Jia] turned out to be a prankster, she preferred to take the chance to meet him, as finding someone who enjoyed "Angel of Death" as much as she did was rare. The sudden appearance of such a person felt almost comforting to her...

Lost in her thoughts, she soon arrived at the garden. It was exactly 11:30 AM.

Could [Jia] be among these people? Who could it be?

Lin stood at the entrance of the garden, scanning the people inside and around it. Many people sought refuge from the heat under the lush greenery and cool pavilions, enjoying the breeze and the fragrance of the surrounding flowers. Therefore, the garden was crowded, mostly with couples nestled together...

After observing for a while and not spotting anyone resembling [Jia] , Lin walked into a red pavilion and sat down on a white stone bench.

She intentionally propped up her book with the cover facing outwards to make it easier for someone to recognize.

But five minutes passed, and no one approached.

Lin became anxious. Perhaps [Jia] was just some bored kid who liked "Angel of Death," playing a not-so-funny joke on her…

Disappointed, she put down the book, ready to leave.

Just then, a girl approached and walked directly into the pavilion, sitting opposite Lin.

Lin looked at the girl curiously, who also smiled politely back at her.

Could she be [Jia]?

Lin quickly dismissed the idea. First, though they had never met, the tone of [Jia] 's replies made it quite clear he was a man. Second, the girl was too beautiful. With her slender figure, flowing white

dress, luscious black hair, and captivating face, she drew attention wherever she went. Such a girl couldn't possibly be an assassin!

She must have just wanted to sit here... Lin reassured herself, standing up to leave.

At that moment, her phone rang in her pocket. She hurriedly took it out, but the call ended before she could answer.

It was an unknown number. Lin shook her head, ready to put her phone away when it rang again, the same number, but it cut off after two rings.

Another prank! How annoying! Lin frowned and stored her phone, stepping out of the pavilion.

But just as she took two steps, the phone rang again. Annoyed, Lin answered, ready to scold the caller, but a deep voice from the other end interrupted her, "Now, tell me the exact location of Wen Jun's dormitory."

Lin trembled, her hand holding the phone shaking slightly. She looked around nervously, seeing no one paying attention to her, then whispered, "Are you [Jia]?"
