Chapter 26 - The Power of Hatred (2)

The night was deep, and Li Tian was still waiting.

Under the hazy moonlight, the entire land was enveloped in a mysterious glow. The night breeze gently rustled the leaves by the roadside, sounding like whispers of lovers.

Li Tian was hidden under a lush tree by the road, completely concealed in the shadows of the branches.

Thus, no one noticed this strange man, who in the heat of summer, had long hair and wore a long coat.

Anyone who might have seen him would have thought he was either a down-and-out wanderer or a legendary hero from the stories. But nobody would have guessed that he was clutching a knife in his hand, hidden inside his coat.

His sharp eyes scanned the intersection through his disheveled hair. Seven years of pent-up hatred were about to burst forth like a flood, unstoppable!

Last night, Chu Xuelin came to see him. This despicable man actually wanted to reconcile with him, offering a mere 200,000 yuan as compensation for all the wrongs. 200,000 yuan to forget everything and call it even.

Angry at the time, Li Tian had nothing to say and simply drove Chu Xuelin out of his room.

200,000 yuan to make up for seven years of lost time? To erase the pain of financial ruin? To quell the hatred of being betrayed and humiliated by the most trusted person?

Ridiculous...

He had spent a day tracking down Chu Xuelin's villa address, and now, he was hiding in the shadows of the trees next to the villa...

A car's headlights appeared in the distance, silently approaching.

Here it comes!

Li Tian's muscles tensed, and his hand gripping the knife creaked with tension.

The car approached, turned left, and stopped in front of the luxurious villa, only about twenty meters away from where Li Tian was hiding.

Li Tian's eyes widened.

BB888. The license plate was correct.

The car door opened, and a girl in a white tracksuit with a cute ponytail was the first to get out. She held a large Barbie doll and hopped towards the iron gate. Then a man and a woman emerged from the car.

The moment he saw the man and woman, Li Tian's eyes turned blood red.

No doubt, it was Chu Xuelin and Jiang Xiaofen! He would recognize this despicable couple anywhere!

He heard his own heart pounding violently, accompanied by the throbbing of his veins.

He drew his knife.

The girl had already opened the gate and was skipping into the yard towards the house.

As Chu Xuelin got out of the car, he walked slowly to the trunk and began to unload things, with Jiang Xiaofen helping him.

Now is the time! All the hatred will be resolved at this moment!

Li Tian didn't shout or roar. He gripped the knife tightly, blade forward, moving quickly and silently towards Chu Xuelin.

Just one stab in his throat, then pull out the knife, and while enjoying the sight of the blood, he would approach Jiang Xiaofen and plunge the knife into her chest... and everything would be over.

He quickened his pace and reached the couple just as they were closing the trunk, burdened with their parcels.

"Chu Xuelin!"

He stood in front of them and called out in a low voice.

The man, busy with his arms, barely managed to push up his glasses with the back of his hand and hesitantly responded, "Hmm?"

Before he could finish, Li Tian swung the knife without warning.

The blade cut through the air, driven by intense hatred, aiming straight for Chu Xuelin's throat.

But there was no sound of the blade piercing flesh.

Mid-stab, Li Tian's arm violently shook, and the knife slipped from his hand. Clutching his wrist, he let out a piercing scream. His wrist had been shot through by a crossbow bolt.

Suddenly, as if a scene from a movie, several burly men ran out from the shadows, surrounding him and forcefully twisting his arms behind him, causing him immense pain.

Then, he saw Chu Xuelin smiling.

The man casually threw the items he was holding to the ground, clapped his hands, shook his head, and looked down at Li Tian with a disdainful smile.

"Old Li, seven years have passed, and you're still so naive. Didn't you ever think why I would unload things at the front gate when my garage is in the yard?" he said, walking up to Li Tian for a closer look.

"You disappoint me..." Chu Xuelin shook his head and continued, "So, I'll ask you one last time. Do you agree to the terms I proposed?"

Li Tian turned his head away, his silence expressing his disdain.

"Oh, right. Xiaofen feels sorry for you and decided to give you an extra 10,000, making it 300,000 in total. That should

be enough for the rest of your life, right?" Chu Xuelin said, glancing at Jiang Xiaofen standing nearby, who was clearly unaware of the trap set for Li Tian.

Finally, Li Tian turned back, first looking at Jiang Xiaofen, then fixing his gaze on Chu Xuelin.

Chu Xuelin, arms crossed, waited expectantly, as if confident in Li Tian's answer.

"Ptui!" Li Tian spat fiercely on Chu Xuelin's face.

Unperturbed, Chu Xuelin wiped his face with a tissue, then gestured to the men holding Li Tian, "Take him away, but keep it away from my daughter's sight. Treat my 'friend' well!"

"Chu Xuelin..." Li Tian began to curse, but before he could continue, a stun baton jabbed into his waist from behind, sending him into unconsciousness.

"If you won't reconcile, you'll suffer. Think it over..."

As he blacked out, he heard Chu Xuelin's menacing voice...

Twenty minutes later, in a forest by the roadside on the outskirts of the city, a van silently parked among the trees. Its headlights blazed brightly, illuminating Li Tian, bound and bloodied, lying on the damp ground, barely alive.

"Man, don't make us do this. We're just doing a job for someone. As long as you promise not to trouble Mr. Chu again, we won't harm you further."

A tall man with a long yellow hair and a scarred face crouched in front of Li Tian, speaking gravely.

"300,000 is enough. What do you say?" Seeing no response from Li Tian, he continued.

Li Tian remained silent, only shaking his head stubbornly.

The scar-faced man stood up with a sigh, gestured to his companions, and said, "Continue."

The men, armed with iron rods and chains, approached Li Tian once more.

Li Tian simply closed his eyes.

Just as the beating was about to start, a series of inappropriate horn sounds suddenly echoed, stopping everyone in their tracks.

It wasn't a normal car horn but the sound of a police siren!

"Get in the van! Let's get out of here through the back road!" The scar-faced man was the first to react, quickly getting into the van, turning off the lights, and instructing the others to follow.

The van quickly disappeared, leaving Li Tian alone, injured and lying on the damp forest floor.

Half a minute later, a Harley motorcycle stopped by the roadside. The rider removed their helmet and silently walked into the forest, crouching beside Li Tian.

"Revenge, huh?" the rider murmured while examining Li Tian's injuries with a flashlight. "Then why not choose an effective method..."
