Chapter 1 - Prologue

He opened his eyes slowly for the first time.

"Welcome to Just Another RPG user, calibrating for use. Please respond to prompts as you receive them," a soft voice filled his ears.

Dean went through the standard commands and followed the simple directions. Soon enough he received new prompts from the voice that he wasn't expecting.

"Calibration complete, age verification and testing required for advance features, do you wish to continue?"

"Why the hell not," he muttered. "YES!"

Dean began to feel touch on his skin and taste in his mouth. It was shocking but he was slightly prepared for it. The technology in the system said it was possible to use all 5 senses with some software after all.

"Mapping complete, age verification complete, testing shows user is capable of using advance system, there are separate terms and conditions when using the advance system. Would you like to compare the options?"

"Yes," Dean replied.

A table materialized in front of him and 2 parchments appeared on top. He skimmed through the first one and confirmed it was the standard game he purchased. The other one was a bit more…..in depth.

He quickly noted the increased fees for using the advance system but the perks stated the game would be completely life like. He would receive better starting items, better quest times, a free mount. Pretty standard things you would expect for the higher price tag.

Two descriptions caught his eye. The first was a built in agreement for experimental nature of the system and the liability clauses associated with its use. It meant the system was used at your own risk, the provider accepted no responsibility on its use. The other was a warning that all types of sensations were possible. This included pains and pleasures normally experienced in real life.

Dean immediately understood the reason for the age verification. If the system worked as well as claimed it would be no different than interacting with people and objects back in reality, and with the liability clauses it meant the users could engage in any acts they wanted to experience.

Basic rules would still be enforced of course, but a talented individual could bend them easily given enough time, hence the need for the liabilities.

Dean did some quick math in his head and decided he could afford the extra fees. He quickly signed his name at the bottom of the advance system parchment with the hovering quill.

"Begin first Character creation." The voice stated.

The table disappeared and a full length mirror took its place. The default settings showed his normal appearance. A small bookshelf appeared next to the mirror, the titles were the available races. Due to his upgrade, all races were available to him.

Dean spent some time thinking about what kind of character he wanted before choosing his race and tweaking his appearance with dials on the mirror frame.

A tanned high elf with glowing eyes and hands looked back at him from the mirror when he finished. Long white hair pulled back over his shoulder and the build was average enough.

The class choices were easy enough as well, Dean quickly choose a mage and was stumped when it came time to name his character. With a shrug he copied his own name over and confirmed the stats distributed to the character on another parchment. The registration was complete and a door appeared before him.

"Welcome to a new world Dean, your adventure begins when you walk through the door. For your safety and comfort, time limits have been applied per the user agreements. You are allowed 4 extensions a month. Please note that game time moves faster than reality and the clock command can be used to check both."

Clothes and equipment appeared in front of the door.

"Arm yourself now and go forward to make new legends!"

Dean dressed quickly and choose the staff rather than the wand offered. He picked up an egg that had a question mark hovering over it and placed it in his bag. He took a deep breath and opened the door. He was greeted by a blinding light and he walked into it boldly...
