It was still night when I seemed to wake. A strange aura filling the room I had only recently knocked my first in. Though, the room was odorless. Had someone come in to clean while I slept? I hope not. Even if things had changed, that would be beyond mere breach of privacy.
The air appeared to quiver. Almost shift as a voice came to me. Looking around, I frowned. It was incoherent. A line of blurred words that seemed to come from all around me, "... James ... " the voice said. The rest was lost, but the echoing speech returned. Clearer, as if it was acclimating, " .... Hail. James Pierce ... "
The voice almost sounded like it was worshipping me. Celebrating me. But why? How was I worthy of such praise? Better yet, who was calling to me?
The caller spoke again, gentle, but affirmed. A more clear message ringing forth a unison of hazy voices as they spoke as one, "James Pierce. Welcome ... to our reality. Your ... reality. " I tried to speak back, but my voice wouldn't work. I began to panic, until I realized I couldn't feel my body. A dream?
I heard a voice again. Much more clear this time, impatiently calling to me as my surroundings began to crumble. The floor opened up into blackness, turning to nothingness as I fell into a blackness that had no end. "James! Wake up!"
I shot upright in my bed. Someone had draped a blanket over me in my sleep during the night. My guess might've been Leslie, but I saw her leave before I fell asleep. Thomas? Oh god. I hope he wasn't the one. I was half in the nude.
I turned to survey my surroundings, wondering where the voice came from that had dragged me from the most strange nightmare. Suddenly spotting Thomas in the corner, a mess of books had fallen onto him. Slowly speaking up as I wondered why he was in such a state, "Uh. That's quite the fashion statement, You're sure looking hot now, Thomas."
I tried to suppress a smile, but it exploded into laughter. My terrible humor had struck again. But Thomas didn't seem amused. His face had concern written all over it as he began to get to his feet, "Ignorance sure is bliss. I thought you might tear the room apart. What happened?"
What was he talking about? Tear the room apart? While I slept? "I've been sleeping, Thomas. Even we're I the Hulk, I doubt I could do any damage while unconscious." I looked at Thomas curiously. He definitely saw something while I was out.
Thomas spoke without humor again. Man, that's the second time in a row. He's on a roll now, "Well while you were 'sleeping', James, some sort of force field had enveloped your room and was shaking the whole floor. I'm not sure if it was you, or ... oh." Thomas seemed to blanch, coming to some sort of realization as he stood there. His mind looked like it was going a million miles an hour, "James, what were you dreaming?"
The edgy tone in Thomas's voice sent a shiver down my spine. Not one for many secrets, though, I spilled my guts to him. Trying to add in some humor to make it less spooky than it really seemed, "What was I dreaming? Get this. I was hearing voices in the very room we're in now. Except, when I heard you, I fell into blackness. How weird is that? I think I might be losing it! Haha!"
- My attempt to dodge the incoming tension fell through as Thomas turned to leave. Speaking to me as he faced the door to open it, "I have to speak with the boss. Try not to tell anyone about your dream, Alright? And uh ... "
Thomas turned around. I hadn't realized when I'd sat up, but I was half nude again. The blanket had slipped down, exposing my crotch that was still enlarged by my powers from last night, "You're uh ... quite impressive, but you might want to put some clothes on anyway." He seemed flushed. Embarrassed. Quickly taking his leave as he closed the door.
I spoke to myself, needing to verbalize my thoughts, "Either I'm crazy, or half of these men have been staring at my groin. God, that would be awkward." I got up and began to get dressed, making ready to see myself to the CEO's office. I still needed directions to find my way around this maze of a building.
Slowly closing the door to my dorm, I glided down the hallway. Making my way towards the elevator. I was almost to the double doors when someone popped out of their dorm behind me. Of course, I should have figured I hadn't seen the last of her.
Melanie, the successor to Renco Corp and also the Successor to my new home stepped out into the floor hallway, closing her door ignorantly. Unaware that I was right nearby. Hoping to slip by her unseen, I began to creep past her. But, like all hopes, it was dashed as she turned around just as I was making my way by her. Fuck, we'll there goes my camouflage.
She squeeled and cheered obnoxiously as she bear hugged me, "I knew he was hiding something! Papa put you on my floor?! This is the BEST! Are you heading down to the dining hall? Let me walk you down, James!" I stammered, trying to get a word in between Melanie's incessant rambling.
I couldn't do it, this girl left no openings to talk when she was on a roll. Grabbing my hand, she began to pull me towards the stairway bordering the elevator. I blinked, trying to imagine how many stairs I was going to have to climb down, "Uh. You missed the elevator, Melanie-" she stopped, bouncing on her heels as she spoke with enthusiasm, "Don't be silly, James! Exercise is good for you! And we'll get plenty this way~" I groaned, hoping Melanie wouldn't hear me as we began to descend.
