Chapter 4 - Chapter 3

Satya added some branches into the bonfire adding warmth in the comfort of this cold cave. It is very dangerous to travel in the night and he needs to get some rest too as using his abilities take too much toll in him.

He look at the silhouette of the now sleeping Valensia.

What happened earlier makes him feel frustrated. His lack of training made him incompetent.

When the elders told him to wait for Zveta and Rajani, he told them it is not necessary as it will just draw more attention.

While he was right at some point, he didn't expect an ambush ready.

Can't even protect her properly.

After he returned to the realm years ago and was told that the town's shaman has forseen him as the next oracle's protector, he actually didn't feel the honor as much as his family does. Afterall, he was expecting that the current oracle will outlive his short life as she is a fox and their lifespan was always really long that the forebearers of his title actually wasted their time readying themselves to a person who didn't come even until their deaths.

"There are three towns assigned to rotational summon a new oracle, with Lezya having the smallest community. There live the shamans and their family and so does us, the family of sworn protectors of the oracle but only few people can actually fulfill their duties as oracles don't get summon often. Some even live hundreds or thousand realm year, depends on what race they are from."

That was what his father always told to him as a child.

Even so, Azani saw in a dream that it was time to summon a new oracle. It is by the rules that such prophetic dreams needed to fulfill fast as something might happen with the current oracle, or something already did.

Despite that, the kingdom has not announced anything if something happened to the current oracle.

He heard her sigh in her sleep.

Ever since he first saw her that day, he felt as if his heart is aching bit he doesn't know why.

As if she felt someone is staring at her, she woke up and rub her eyes.

"You should have sleep some more," he said.

"I'm alright but did you have enough rest?"

"Yes."

She looks unconvinced.

"I don't understand why you need to risk your life for me," she said in a laid back tone but for soms reason, she had a sad look in her eyes. "I'm not even sure why I was summoned yet, except that I was suppose to be thennew oracle. That's a lot when I don't even have the qualifications to be one."

"I'm sure you are qualified. You won't be summoned if you aren't," aside from the fact that he can't read her mind.

He can use mind-read and telepathy aside from telekinesis but he can't even use the first two on her which made him sure she is not as ordinary as she thought.

"I guess," she paused. Thank you for saving me back there."

He wanted to tell her it is just his duty, that he is not even fully committed on it before but he just bit his tounge and noded.

Right now, he wanted to protect her for whatever reason it is building inside him.
