Chapter 1 - The Corpse Inside The Coffin Is Alive

"Li Feng is a quack! Li Feng has no medical ethics! Why is the patient dead if the surgery is a success?"

"Kill the quack! A life for a life!"

There was a loud protest just outside the hospital. The patient's family picked up stones from the ground and threw them at the hospital, cursing at the doctor that had killed a patient. That doctor was none other than Li Feng!

Li Feng bit his lips hard. He had struggled mentally for a long time before ultimately deciding to exit the hospital. His expression was pained as he apologized. "I apologize to the patient's family. I hope all of you can calm down. I did my best, truly. However, the surgery… Ugh…"

"Thud!"

Li Feng felt a sharp pain in his chest. Sound ceased to exist as he touched his chest. His hand was entirely stained with blood.

Someone had stabbed him in the back. The ice-cold knife had pierced through his heart before he even had the chance to turn to look at the murderer. His vision turned black as he fell down the staircase.

"Somebody please get the police! Doctor Li has been murdered!"

That was the last thing Li Feng heard before his consciousness sunk into the shivering darkness.

At the Eastern Outskirts Cemetery situated in the Yulan Empire.

A huge golden coffin was being pulled along by two Dragon Elephants. The chains clanked endlessly as they slowly entered the cemetery which was filled with giant monuments.

There were hundreds of people sending off the deceased.

Li Feng's consciousness woke up within the huge coffin that weighed a few tons. It was the corpse of the fourth-generation offspring from Marquis Jiange's Residence.

He was in complete darkness. His body was cold from head to toe, his heart in extreme pain, and he could not even open his eyes.

"How am I not dead? Someone stabbed me in the heart. Who has such amazing medical skills? I'm certain that nobody in this country is capable of such a feat. As for the people out of the country… There shouldn't be anyone that skilled either."

Li Feng was a world-class doctor specializing in cardiology. He was one of the best in the country with only a handful of people in the world that could match his skills.

According to current medical knowledge, it was impossible to survive being stabbed in the heart. He knew he would die the instant the knife pierced his back.

It was all because of that incident in the hospital!

However, what was the situation now? His body felt numb and cold. Li Feng could neither move his fingers nor open his eyes! The only thing that he could do was to think.

Unfamiliar voices could be heard from within the darkness.

"We've arrived at the cemetery. Please lift up the coffin and bury it! It's truly unfortunate. Third Master's only male offspring has died."

"We don't need your crocodile tears. My brother isn't dead. It's impossible, simply impossible…" A beautiful female voice retorted, her voice marred with anger and sadness. She seemed to be crying.

Although Li Feng was lying inside the coffin, he could tell that the girl's voice was very childish. It seemed like the owner of the voice was still very young.

"It's obvious that your brother didn't have any talent to learn Combat Qi at all. He was physically weak and yet he still chose to fight over the most popular prostitute at the brothel with those wealthy, good-for-nothing boys. In the end, he lost. As he could not catch his breath, his chronic illness was triggered and he died in the brothel. His heart stopped beating eight hours ago."

Although many people were gathered here, all of the comments were rather cruel towards him.

"What an embarrassment. The descendant of Marquis Jiange's Residence raged to death inside a brothel just because he lost a prostitute. His corpse was even brought back to the Marquis' Residence by a woman from the brothel. I'm sure his father would have been infuriated if he were still alive."

"Marquis Jiange's Residence is going to be shamed terribly this time, just you see! I'm sure the other nobles are laughing at us now."

"I'm glad that the idiot died. Now, the Marquis doesn't have to spend large amounts of his Combat Qi every month to keep him alive. What a waste, really. If I were to receive all of that Combat Qi, I would have been an unrivaled master, capable of cutting down mountains and parting rivers."

Ning Qianwu stared coldly at the young girl in green shirt beside the coffin and said, "Xiner, today is a hot day and the corpse must not be left overnight. It'll smell if that happens."

Ning Xiner kneeled by the coffin, hugging onto it tightly in order to prevent anyone from carrying it away. "Fourth Uncle, are you really that desperate to bury my brother? You're afraid of the Marquis seeing through your plan when he got out, right? Did my brother really die out of anger?"

Ning Xiner's voice reached Li Feng's ears through the thick coffin wood. The girl was crying, and her voice sounded lonely and helpless. "You lot killed my brother. My brother can't learn Combat Qi and it's impossible for him to be the heir to the Marquis position. However, you were still worried and decided to kill him."

Everybody fell silent.

After a long time, someone walked over to speak to Ning Xiner and she was eventually pulled away.

The coffin was lifted up and it was about to be buried.

Li Feng could roughly understand what was happening outside. He knew he was inside a coffin and, were he to be buried, he would die twice in the same day.

Was there anything as ridiculous as this?

Li Feng wanted to speak but he realized that his throat was so dry that he could not make a sound. Not even the simple three words; 'I am alive'.

"Lower the coffin," Ning Qianwu said coldly.

Ning Xiner cried as she watched her only biological brother being placed into the ground and his coffin covered in dirt.

Li Feng panicked. He gritted his teeth, raised his stiffened hands up forcefully, and knocked on the coffin.

"Knock knock!"

The knock came from inside the coffin.

As the coffin was very thick, the sound it produced was very muffled. However, a top-notch martial artist would never miss it. Ning Xiner's Cultivation had reached the Divine Body Realm which meant that her hearing was incredibly sharp. She spoke, "Stop. I heard a sound coming from the coffin!"

"Xiner, you must have misheard. It's taboo to disrupt the burial ceremony. The deceased will never rest in peace if that happens. Please continue," Ning Qianwu ordered.

"Knock knock!"

The knock from the coffin was clearer this time.

This time, the two servants from Marquis Jiange's Residence who were burying the coffin heard it as well. Startled by the sound, they stopped and took two steps back. Had they failed to kill him?

Ning Xiner no longer cared and jumped into the pit, grabbing hold of the coffin's bottom with her fingers. The Combat Qi within her flowed in unison with her blood, causing it to circulate quicker throughout her body.

"Creak!"

She lifted the golden coffin, which weighed a few tons, with her soft and gentle hands and placed it beside the pit. The coffin was so heavy that it sunk an inch into the ground.

"Boom!"

She slammed her hand onto the coffin's lid, sending it away with an explosive force that was at least tens of thousands pounds strong.

Who would have thought that such a gentle and soft lady was able to produce such an explosive and terrifying force?

Ning Xiner was a genius within the Marquis' Residence. She was only fourteen years old but she had already achieved Stage One of the Divine Body Realm. The girl could be considered the best of the fourth-generation of offspring from Marquis Jiange's Residence.

The strength she exhibited earlier had slightly shocked the masters from Marquis Jiange's Residence.

Ning Xiner was powerful!

Not to mention, she had cultivated the Divine Martial Body!

It was unfortunate that she was a girl. Had she been born a boy, she would have been a strong competitor for the role of successor to the Marquis.

"Boom!"

The coffin's cover flew away and slammed into one of the monuments.

At last, it was opened!

Sunlight shone into the coffin, bathing the pale face of a young man.

Ning Qianwu's Cultivation was extremely high. His gaze was as bright as lightning as he walked towards the coffin, giving off a tremendous and oppressive aura.

He arrived beside the coffin, only to see the corpse still had its eyes shut. Ning Qianwu then let out a sigh of relief and said sternly, "Xiner, are you happy now?! Your brother is dead. He could've been buried peacefully but now you've disrupted it. His soul will never rest in peace because of you!"

"Rumor has it that if the burial process is disrupted and the timing is missed, the devils will chop off his waist if he goes to hell!"

The crowd started pointing fingers again until Ning Xiner lowered her head. She bit her lip. Her brother was dead and it was she who had disrupted his soul while he was on his journey. 'I'm sorry, brother! Your waist will not be chopped off! I'm sure of it!'

Then, an extremely coarse voice came from the coffin. "Cough cough! I'm… I'm sorry everyone. I… I'm… Still alive…"

Li Feng was very anxious as he was scared of being buried once again.

He slowly opened his eyes.

The reason Li Feng had his eyes shut was that he knew that one would go blind if exposed to intense sunlight immediately after staying in the dark for too long.

Ning Qianwu was shocked, so much so that his eyeballs almost dropped out from their sockets when he saw the youngster in the coffin opening his eyes. He had even almost blurted out loud, "You didn't f*cking die?!"

That useless trash managed to survive.

How had he done it?

Alas, many were disappointed by this!

Ning Xiner was the only one who teared up with joy. She held the youngster in the coffin up and forced herself into his embrace, hugging him tightly. "Brother, I knew that you weren't dead. I was so scared that you would really leave me behind."

"Water… Water…" Li Feng's voice was coarse. He did not know who exactly this beautiful girl was and all he could think of at that moment was having some water.

The color on Li Feng's face gradually recovered after drinking some water.

Ning Xiner personally carried Li Feng to a luxurious ancient-looking carriage. However, the animal pulling the carriage was not a horse but a green mythical beast with the head of a deer and body of a horse. Furthermore, its entire body was covered in metal-like scales!

The Green Deerhorse pulled the ancient-looking carriage as they left the cemetery for Marquis Jiange's Residence.

Li Feng was still extremely weak as he sat inside the carriage.

Ning Xiner pulled him into her embrace as his head rested on her small chest. She was saying a bunch of weird things, "Brother, your heart is naturally weak. From the very beginning, you can't learn any Combat Qi. The next time they bully you, you can just tell your sister! I'll teach them a lesson on your behalf."

He did not understand what she was saying and so, Li Feng could only remain silent.

From Ning Xiner's perspective, she believed that the reason her brother was so quiet was that ever since he was young, he felt useless. She sighed. "I don't even believe that you raged to death. I'm certain that Fourth Uncle and the other uncles are secretly responsible. I really don't understand how they can be so cruel to you. We're a family, is there really a need to kill you off? They're despicable for trying to kill you while grandfather is isolating himself from the world for his training!"

Li Feng remained silent though he was very tempted to say, "Hey sister! You've got the wrong person."

However, he was simply too weak and his chest was in great pain. Li Feng predicted that he would soon die of hunger in this wasteland if nobody was taking care of him.

Hence, he had no choice but to take advantage of this younger sister of his and someday repay her for what she has done for him.

From Ning Xiner's one-sided conversation, Li Feng had gotten the gist of the situation.

The original host of this body was called Ning Xiaochuan. He was sixteen this year and he was the first offspring of the fourth-generation from Marquis Jiange's Residence. His parents had died ten years ago, leaving behind their young son and daughter to fend for themselves.

Ning Xiner was gifted and had cultivated the Divine Martial Body at the young age of fourteen. Her potential was endless and she was the cream of the crop among the fourth-generation's descendants.

Meanwhile, Ning Xiaochuan was unable to learn any martial art, which seemed to be related to the sickness he had since birth. His heart was weak and his blood flow was bad as well. If Ning Xiaochuan were to do any slightly intensive exercise, his heart rate would increase, causing breathing difficulties, endless headaches, and loss of consciousness. Hence, he was known as "Sicken Ning" among the fourth-generation descendants.

"My soul must have entered this corpse." Although Li Feng was not superstitious and was unwilling to admit that such supernatural phenomena actually existed, he had to accept the fact as he had arrived in a whole new world.

"Increased heart rate and breathing difficulties… Isn't this coronary artery disease?"

Li Feng was the best doctor specialized in cardiology in the country and had previously treated a patient with a serious case of coronary artery disease.

As it required major surgery and had a very low success rate, this case would be extremely troublesome to other doctors. However, it was a piece of cake for him. He was confident of a ninety percent chance of success for the surgery.

The surgery was a success but the patient died!

He eventually found out the cause. The nurse had given the patient the wrong dosage of anesthetic. As the patient was chronically weak, not even a single careless mistake should have been made. Alas, their negligence caused the patient to die on the operating table.

Every surgery carried some form of risk and it was normal for a patient to die. However, the patient's relatives were unsatisfied with the result. They went to the hospital to complain, claiming that Li Feng was a quack and demanding that he paid with his own life.

Li Feng knew very well what would come from this incident. Were he to tell the truth to the patient's relatives, he would be able to get out of this mess. However, the nurse would definitely be beaten to a pulp. At worst, she might even be killed by the enraged relatives.

Hence, it was only natural that he did not do that.

After all, Li Feng held some responsibility as well since the patient died on his operating table. He did not hide his head like a tortoise to evade the problem. Instead, he courageously stood up to apologize to the patient's relatives and claimed all responsibility.

However, the patient's relatives went berserk. They charged in and attacked him the instant Li Feng stepped out of the hospital. Some held onto his shirt while the others punched him in the head.

The man did not have a chance to apologize before he was stabbed in the back, piercing his heart. After losing consciousness, he arrived in this world.

'Since I've arrived in this world in this body, I'll be Ning Xiaochuan from now on! I'll take it as repaying this lady for saving my life.' Li Feng thought.

Since Li Feng had arrived here, he decided to stay.

From now on, his name would be Ning Xiaochuan. With that, he accepted this new identity in this new and magical world!
