Chapter 17 - 17 Survive

Ban Du's neck was slashed open.

Alice's chest was riddled with bloody holes.

One child after another fell into pools of blood.

Zhou Bai roared, unleashing 50 points of Primordial Spirit power, with blood flowing from his ears and eyes.

Bang! The raging force struck the Heavenly Demon but had no effect, only eliciting a cold laugh from the demon.

"As a pig... why resist?"

The black mist transformed into a long snake and swept directly towards Zhou Bai.

The moment Zhou Bai's Primordial Spirit power touched the snake, it disintegrated and dissipated.

The weakened black mist hit Zhou Bai, causing his vision to go black as he crashed against the wall, slowly sliding to the ground. His consciousness began to blur.

Heavenly Demon, "All you pigs do is eat and shit. I'll kill you all!"

Swishing sounds accompanied more people being pierced through their bodies.

Bang!

A steel pipe was thrown at the Heavenly Demon.

The Heavenly Demon turned with a cold expression to see Elsa standing up, glaring at him. Her frail legs were trembling, and her voice was filled with intense unease. As she spoke, tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.

"Stop... stop! Why are you killing everyone? Everyone... everyone tries so hard to survive... I even ate less!"

Swish!

"Noisy."

The black mist formed a blade that pierced through Elsa's body, pinning her to the wall.

Zhou Bai clenched his teeth, his Primordial Spirit power continuously stirred, trying to burst forth, but to no avail. Both his spirit and body were severely injured, rendering him powerless. He could only watch helplessly as everything unfolded.

"The last one..." The serpent lightly shook its head, black energy swirling around it, transforming into a black blade that viciously stabbed towards Zhou Bai.

"Am I... going to die?"

At this moment, Zhou Bai's mind was in turmoil. There was no anger, hatred, or resentment... only one thought dominated his entire brain.

"I really... don't want to die..."

The fear of death spread to the ends of every nerve in his body.

In this moment, Zhou Bai suddenly understood death, disappearance, losing connection with the entire world, losing all hope and future.

For a living being, this was the most terrifying thing.

Sizzling...

Violent crashing and scraping sounds erupted.

At some point, Dr. Zhuang had already stepped in front of Zhou Bai, gripping the stabbing black blade tightly. Blood continuously dripped from his palm.

Zhou Bai stared wide-eyed at this scene. Dr. Zhuang's expression was calm as he said, "Zhou Bai, do you feel fear? Despair? Anger? And yet you can't do anything? Remember this feeling; it's called helplessness. Don't let yourself experience this again..."

Swish, swish, swish! More black blades swept towards them, a golden light flashed in Dr. Zhuang's eyes.

Amid the crackling sounds, the black blade held in Dr. Zhuang's right hand was forcefully flicked out, like a black lightning bolt, deflecting all incoming black blades.

Serpent Monster, "Tch, Mo Luo was killed by you? What a useless thing."

"Are you talking about your companion?" Dr. Zhuang, "I'll send you back to join him."

The serpent monster coldly observed Dr. Zhuang's severed arm and heavily injured leg, sneering, "You are so gravely injured that you can't even use your Primordial Spirit power. Instead of fleeing, you still try to save people?"

"A pig is a pig, how naive."

In the next moment, all the black blades flashed lightly and were covered by black flames. Even the black blade in Dr. Zhuang's hand caught black fire, forcing him to abandon it.

"Zhou Bai... this planet may no longer be suitable for human survival..."

Bang! Dozens of black blades turned into a whirlwind of swords, smashing Dr. Zhuang against the wall with a loud crash.

"But Earth can be conquered..."

Boom!

Strands of golden light emanated from Dr. Zhuang's body. His hair had turned into golden animal fur, and a tail had grown from his tailbone.

In the next moment, he tore through the surrounding black blades, once again standing in front of Zhou Bai, blocking the incoming blades.

"Humanity will never surrender."

Dr. Zhuang charged through a barrage of black blades, crashing directly into the Heavenly Demon, slamming its head against the wall with one hand.

"Zhou Bai, this is my final lesson: live on, no matter how humble, how scared, how desperate... live on."

"Self-destruct Primordial Spirit?" The Heavenly Demon looked at Dr. Zhuang angrily, "And even turning into a monster..."

Golden flames ignited on Dr. Zhuang's body. The serpent's form struggled frantically, with black blades stabbing through Dr. Zhuang's body, but it could not break free from his grasp.

Dr. Zhuang, "As the last human, do not let our civilization end here..."

In the next moment, blinding golden flames filled Zhou Bai's vision, spreading through the lab, the underground fourth floor, the third floor, the second floor, engulfing the entire base.

The golden flames burned everything in the base to ashes. When the flames finally extinguished, Dr. Zhuang and the Heavenly Demon's figures had vanished without a trace.

Zhou Bai too had been severely injured and lay unconscious on the ground.

...

When Zhou Bai awoke, almost the entire base had been destroyed. Only he and the surrounding children's bodies were unharmed, clearly protected by Dr. Zhuang.

"What should I do next..."

His whole body ached and was unbearably sore; even moving was impossible.

Helpless, Zhou Bai could only rest for a while, trying to recuperate a bit before attempting anything.

More than half an hour later, Zhou Bai tried to activate his Primordial Spirit power, slowly lifting his body bit by bit, sitting down on the ground.

In the process, he felt something placed against his chest.

Opening it, he found what seemed to be a small booklet.

Zhou Bai's gaze narrowed slightly, "Who put this here? Was it Dr. Zhuang?"

Zhou Bai asked in his mind, "Christina, do you know?"

"It was probably Dr. Zhuang who secretly gave it to you during the fight. His cultivation should be high enough to do such a thing."

Zhou Bai continued to look, finding pages of a diary.

However, large portions of the diary had been torn out or overwritten.

...

The atmosphere in the base grew increasingly oppressive. Something seemed to be watching me from the darkness. Jack started talking in his sleep at night. I told him to keep quiet; I was very worried about his condition.

I don't know if our direction is right or wrong; may heaven bless us.

--Heavily crossed out

The research continues, Li Zhengdao has gone mad. We had to lock him in solitary confinement. He kept shouting things no one could understand. Everyone was very depressed; maybe our methods are really wrong.

I'm worried about him, hoping he won't be harmed.

--Missing pages

Since I stopped sleeping, I no longer hear whispers. Maybe this method is correct, and I should promote it.
