Chapter 16 - A step forward' to a Dream (1)

Reaching the chambers we were met with shrivelled up corpses and scared elves locked up in cages as they scurried themselves into the darkest spot that they could find. Looking into their eyes I saw a glimpse of torment and suffering they underwent from experiments to downright sadistic torture. Just like the elves, I saw before when I freed them the elves here bore the same Wounds but worse.

"This sickens me to the highest degree how could they do such a thing to these people," I muttered clenching my hands.

"Elves you are now free from the witch," I stated freeing them from their cage before leading them to the camp and allowing Rowena to heal them.

"Hey, Rewona I think its time you and I have time for ourselves after we send these elves back," I smiled to her.

"Quite, this adventuring business does have me tired. Where do you think we should go?" She replied.

"I was thinking Greece or Scotland just to see nature as itself away from everything before we finally decide to pursue that dream of yours," I smiled kissing her on the cheek.

"and what of your dream? what do you plan on accomplishing?" She asked.

"I'm not too sure I already stand on top of the world my power the pinnacle of all existence. My blade is also the pinnacle of all weaponry its sharpness able to pierce the heavens with one blow. Even my mere presence able to blind the gods without issue. My knowledge also expands so deeply that it crosses to mulitip-," I stated before being interrupted by Rewora who flicked my forehead.

"What was that for?" I questioned rubbing my forehead.

"You dropped your glasses," She smiled looking up at me. Looking down at her I noticed my glasses on the floor.

"Hmmph, I guess so it seems my might and prowess caused it to fall off," I stated before she slapped the glasses on me deflating me instantly.

"You know that it will stop my pride! Even when wearing my glasses I still stand on top of the world as the universes' strongest being no one can stand in my way! None stand " I announced.

"Come on, you. That's enough." She smiled. A smile so similar to me yet so distant when I looked at her. Maybe all fiction indeed was a good thing for me. It left me with no worries and an empty slate to fill.

"You knights are now free to do what you want now you've done what I 've asked you," I announced to all of them causing all but Conrad to remain.

"Don't take it personally sir. That fight with the demons scarred many of them besides I was the only one who truly took your words to heart back at the castle. They truly only leached on you to get back here sir. I also now have an empty pocket, sir. I have nowhere to go. The only thing I had on me when I became a knight was a sword and a will to persist. I had no one when I became a knight. My father had died in battle protecting a noble while my mother died of a cold. I sold my family estate to even come here and lived in an inn for months my savings were spent on giving the knights a reason to battle with you. When my mother told me tales of knights upholding justice I bought into it. So Escanor please take me in" Conrad replied determination as he stood on one knee bowing with his sword thrust in the ground. So this was the power of" talk no Jutsu" how fascinating.

"Say Rowena what do you think of Sir Conrad? I always wanted a follower he seems like the chap I would want following me as my right-hand man. He seems loyal, willful, honest, strong and ultimately stupid," I stated Rhitta now in my hand. He seemed off. To clingy to me like a... Fanboy. His aura was similar to a certain villain.

"Only a fool would sacrifice all his earning for one man just because his beliefs were similar. Your blade is swift almost too swift. Who are you, Conrad?" I replied as my finger pointed right next to his chest. Sir Conrad paused as he felt my finger pressed near him before I pushed lightly towards him causing him to fall back frozen. I guess he isn't him but maybe I should try propping his mind? No, he can't be that smart and stupid to accurately come to this time just to meet me.

"I guess You're alright," I smiled pulling him up.

"Why'd you do that?" Rowena asked confused as to why I turned hostile at Sir Conrad.

"Who knows. Let's go send the elve back to their home We still need to cash in on those favours they owe me " I stated.

"We? You're the one who did most of the work." She asked confused at my question.

"Oh, Come on it was a team effort you, after all, you created these glasses with me. I wouldn't be here without you besides that dream of yours sounds nice," I smiled before walking with her to the elves. Looking at the nights walking about they looked at the elves with a bit of disdain still in their eyes as they faked their expressions talking to the elves in front of me. It was quite laughable but I stopped myself.

It was no wonder that Conrad had been the only one talking to me. They only saw me as another powerhouse to not mess with the only difference was that I was only kinder. Anger surged me but I knew that a few words couldn't just change an entire army perception on a persons view on others.

Hell, slavery still existed in the modern era with about 20 millions slaves active. It still existed it just wasn't apparent. Things like these weren't just going to change instantly it would need to take about... A thousand years. People only needed slaves because they wanted their lives to be easier efficient. A worker costed money a slave didn't it was obvious as to why they didn't want to get rid of such a vile tradition. (AN: Sadly this is a fact. First world countries don't have to deal with it though. So if you're living in a 1st world country just be a little bit happier you aren't a slave to some weird guy off in some 3rd world country)

Though it was one I understood everything had a reason even the most stupid of acts. Although such reasons at times are not satisfactory to some when answered. Looking at them I wanted to change their views but such understanding would be a pain and waste of time. You are the people you surround yourself with. So while I'm here I'll just save the few slaves I can.

"Come on we need to cash in on our favours I smiled towards her," I smiled as I strolled forward, moving the Elves after they had been healed and teleporting us there. Now in front of the Forrest, I stood with them outside the forest awaiting the scouting party.

"Sir, just what are we doing waiting outside of the forest?" Conrad asked.

"Some gatekeepers they should be here right about... Now," I stated before seeing an incoming bunch of elves wearing armour aiming their weapons at us before I saw the famous duo again.

"A come on it's you guys again!" Dedric shook his head in frustration as he rubbed his head.

"Our queen would like to see you for a more formal greeting," An older elf stated with a hint of disgust. Great another racist how amazing.

"Come on elves you are finally going back home." I smiled towards them before entering the forest.
