Chapter 4 - Chapter 4[Illiterate or Literate?]

JinXie has just recently woke up and she was contemplating whether to take a bath or not. She totally felt extremely lazy today, more specifically, she felt lazy everyday. So she just lied in bed, deep in thought.

Then she remembered that breakfast was about to be served so she hurriedly went outside of her room and went close to the stool beside the dining table. She tried to climb up on the stool but she was too short to do so. Everything inside her yard in the Lan Manor, not a single thing has changed. Then she remembered her conversation with her eldest uncle, Lan Gu Yuan, in the hall more than a week ago:

"Now that you have lost all of your relatives on your father's side, there is no one to take care of you now. But you do not have to worry, you can live here with us in the Lan Manor, we will try our best to take care of you." Lan Gu Yuan smilingly spoke to her, quickly changing the atmosphere from sad to normal.

"Hmm, we will definitely try our best to satisfy your everyday needs." The woman sitting on the chair at the right side of Lan Gu Yuan also smilingly acknowledged and added to his words.

Hearing the woman speak at the side, JinXie turned her attention on to her direction. The woman had a beautiful face filled with make up. Lying on her face was a very warm smile but the smile looked quite stiff and forced which made JinXie wonder if she will really do the things she just recently spoke of. Anyway, the smile still looked quite beautiful. *Approved*

"Even your aunt approved so just feel at home, you can also play with your cousins if you feel bored. By the way, the woman beside me is your aunt, my wife Wei Liu. You can call her eldest Aunt Liu..." and so on.

'Tss, let me guess her thoughts at that moment she spoke her words: "Why would I spend my money on you? It is already so kind of us to let you live here on our Manor and now you want to use our money? As if I would give you the chance to!" She most probably thought of that. I understand her though. It's not like she was the one who murdered my whole clan, so she was not responsible for me. But... She should have at least given me stairs to climb up on the stool. It is so high that my current body is having a hard time with it.' JinXie complained in her thoughts.

Speaking of Clan, JinXie also remembered the clan that recently got murdered, the clan where the original owner of the body, that is being occupied by JinXie, came from.

When she found out that the name of the clan was Min Clan, she suddenly felt a burst of strong, sad emotions. She tried hard to control her emotions so that she would not cry but to no avail, she still cried and at the same time thought to herself: 'I have never been this open with my emotions in my whole life. I became too emotional maybe because I am still too young to control it.' Then she continued crying.

There were only two reasons of why she was crying, JinXie clearly knew the two reasons of why she was crying. First reason, the name Min Clan made herself remember her family the Min Clan in the modern world. Second reason is that it was like a nightmare to her because of their familiar faces.

When she saw their portraits being displayed in the ancestral hall of Min Family Clan the nightmarish feeling grew rampant inside her body. For a moment there, JinXie felt helplessness, loneliness and fear once again. She feared that, what if this really happened to the Min Family Clan in the modern world? It really made her feel hopeless.

In the whole Min clan, JinXie was the only one left not even one of their maidservants and manservants were spared from the massacre. It was clear that the goal of the killers was to eradicate the whole family. She only survived because she was hidden by her mother in a chest under her bed. But in the end she still didn't survive it, she still died and her young body was occupied by Min JinXie's soul.

Everytime, JinXie would come in the ancestral hall of the Min Clan to receive guests which came to mourn for their death, then she would come out of the hall with red and puffy eyes. She had no choice but to cry because she can't control her emotions everytime she see their portraits.

The death of the whole Min Family Clan was a mystery to everyone, even to the people who came to check on the family. What they saw was a big pool of blood and dozens of bodies layered on top of each other. And everyone who were found dead was missing either 2 or more body parts. It was a really horrifying scene to look at. But after that horrifying scene no other clue was found that could lead to the murderer.

Everytime JinXie remembers about the Min Family Clan she would start to cry just like right now.

She has now successfully climbed on top of the stool but she can't stop herself from crying. It took a while before she could stop crying and at the same time she could finally hear the sound of knocking on the door in front of her. She put both of her tiny hands on the table and excitedly gazed at the door putting all of her attention onto it.

The door opened but it was not the maidservant who brought the food everyday, it was her eldest uncle Yuan. JinXie got disappointed for a moment but smiled brightly the next second and thought: 'If Uncle is here then that means he brought some food more delicious than usual, hahahahahah...'

Lan Gu Yuan also gave her a bright smile in return and called the maidservant he brought to serve the dishes. He noticed that his nephew really liked to eat so he would do this if he had spare time.

They just sat there, silently eating. While eating, Lan Gu Yuan remembered about planning JinXie's future and thought: 'Maybe I should let her attend school' Then he looked at JinXie.

Noticing his gaze, JinXie also gave him a puzzled gaze as if asking what the problem was.

"Do you know how to speak? Can you write?" He asked.

JinXie bowed her head and thought: 'Right, I forgot about that part. In this world, am I literate or illiterate?'
