Angelo scowled and glared. His suspicious looks changed to fierce, angry glares. The frown marred his friendly appearance. Those looks would no longer see Adin as a friend. They saw Adin as an enemy.
"Adin?" Angelo mumbled. "Did you say Adin?"
Wendy was still in Adin's arms, rubbing herself on his body. Meantime, Adin heard Angelo's mumbles, showing an upset face.
"Ahhh, no no! She didn't say anything like that! Who's Adin? I'm Arian! Right, Wendy?" Adin glanced at Wendy, waiting for her to talk back.
"Yes! I didn't call my husband Adin. He's Ar—what was that name again?"
"Aaarian! I'm Arriaaaaan!"
"Yes, yes, my husband is Arian. Adin isn't Adin, Adin is Arian!"
Adin raised his hand and facepalmed.
"Damn... Just how can a woman be this much stupid... why does she even know my real name? What is wrong with these people... now I have to deal with Angelo too. Damn, boring as fuck!" he thought, sighing and turning to Angelo afterward. "Look, Angelo, I also don't know what is going on here. My name is Adin, but I can explain it to you! You see, I had to hide my name; you should understand that, right? I can't just walk with such a name in public. I also don't know why she knows my real name. Believe me, man! Believe me!"
"I don't get what's going on, but..." Angelo intensified the anger in his glares, furrowing his brow much harder, "your name is Adin?"
Adin shallowed down his spittle and responded to Angelo's question. "Yes..."
"I see," Angelo closed his eyes, opening them as he lifted his head toward Adin, "so you're an Infidel!"
"Infidel? No, there should be a mis—"
As Adin wanted to end his sentence, he saw Angelo's sharp sword edge before his eyes, having only an inch of distance to reach his face.
"Angelo, what's the meaning behind this?" Adin asked, frowning in response.
Wendy looked scared, getting Adin's left arm and clinging to it.
"I didn't kill you in that town because you were not an infidel. I also used to call you my savior because you saved me in that urgent moment. But now I'm sure. You're an infidel! I can't let you defile the blessed land more than this!"
"Stop this nonsense! Why am I an infidel? Just because my name is Adin?"
Adin tried his best to change Angelo's mind and act as normally as possible. He didn't want his identity to get revealed so easily. He also didn't want to fight, as he saw no point in it. Adin had fought for enough time to get bored of it. Since he had been fighting for most of his life, he used to see fighting so boring.
And yet no matter how much he had struggled to avoid useless battles, he had always ended up in a one. He had watched millions of wars and battles in history with his own eyes. Although he reached the conclusion that wars are inevitable, he still tried his best to refrain from futile fights.
"That's one reason, and that I can't sense any magical pressure from you. And yet you jumped from that pit over there. Your kiss awakened this woman. You can't be a normal person." Angelo replied, keeping the sharp tip of his sword close to Adin's forehead. "Also... my sense of judgment tells me that you're an infidel. This sense is gifted by Zeus to me. I can say whether you're an infidel or not!"
"Sense of judgment, my ass! You're just deciding by your own personal standards and point of view!"
"And now you're uttering some cheap blasphemy. It's normal though, every single infidel that I've come to see says the same blasphemy. They all put the divine judgment under question. And thus I shall give them their proper punishment!"
—All right, it seems logic is not defined for this dude. What else can I do? Is there anything I can do to avoid a fight? Auhh... too troublesome...
Adin sighed as he understood his efforts to convince Angelo are totally useless.
"Also, I can't let that woman stay with you," Angelo added, "since she's my only clue to Olympus. I will kill you to purify the world from another infidel, and then I will start inquisting this woman. I'm sure she would remember more than two things after that."
Wendy grabbed Adin's arm even harder, trembling in fear.
"Kill me? You said?" Adin asked, looking confused.
"Yes, I said I'm going to kill you right here. Are you scared of your pathetic life, infidel?"
"Are you sure?"
"What? Of course, I am! Don't even think for a second that I'm gonna change my mind because we've been together for a short time. Once I've decided someone is infidel, I'd show no mercy. No matter who you are, I shall carry out the task of divine judgment."
"I see," Adin shut his eyes and opened them, looking with a lifeless expression, "if you insist so much, then do your best to kill me then."
After spending a lot of time to avoid the troubles and risks, after giving all of his attention to not face the problems in the way, after focusing his mind entirely on his purpose, he had come up with nothing but another annoying woman, a boring forthcoming fight with a man, and failing to hide his identity. He didn't want to admit it, but everything he had done after joining an adventurer guild was a total waste.
It wasn't so hard to read Adin's emotions right then. No one would have a hard time guessing what's going on in his heart. His face carried nothing but boredom. It was the face of someone who had fought endless times to die and had failed every single time, the face of someone with absolutely no interest in anything, the face of someone with no trace of enjoying life, the face of someone who was immortal, the face of someone who was...
