He was shaking his hands in the air as a sign of goodbye while Liora kept getting further from him. Meantime, he had his eyes tightened, putting a fake smile on his face.
When Liora disappeared from the view, his smiling countenance changed to a serious, bored expression. He then sighed in relief.
"It's much harder than I'd expected. Now I understand the actors. It's so hard to pretend to be another person. I could see some doubt in her eyes. I hope she hasn't noticed."
He was currently in Seora, the capital of the West Kingdom. The city's population reached over one million as the enclosing walls ensured their security. The rectangular houses were tiled by red bricks and roofed triangularly by flat cream tiles.
Adin's only ultimate goal was to die. He didn't want any problem showing up in his way, so he had decided to avoid any trouble. Just carrying the name of Adin would almost bring him every single trouble in the world. Therefore, he decided to change his name to Arian. Fortunately, he didn't have to change his appearance too since nobody except his demonic subordinates had ever seen him and could've made it out alive.
However, that was true before he chose to start his journey to kill himself. Right then, two other people knew Adin's true identity: Ena the Oracle and Freya
The Oracle's appearance and her name could be suspicious, and the Grandwizards of the West Kingdom would come in his way if they understood he's bringing the Oracle with himself. Freya was also well-known as a young talented sorceress in the West Kingdom, so letting everyone see her would make a lot of trouble.
Adin hated boring problems more than anything else, so they had come up with a plan. Freya would be known as Felicia and Ena as Elena. He told them to change their clothes and appearance too.
In addition to his appearance and name, Adin's magical pressure and power would also be troublesome. If he failed to hold back his strength even for a moment, almost a large area of the earth would get completely wiped out of the map. If he let even a little bit of magic force get out of his control, it'd affect a large range and thus attracting everyone's attention to it. But Adin had lived enough time to have absolute control over his powers, so he didn't need to worry about that.
No matter how much one had control over those powers, it was impossible to completely hide your magical aura and energy, but the Demon King could easily bring his magic level to 0. That would make Adin an exception in the history of the world.
But again, Adin also had to manage Freya's and Ena's magical powers. He looked more worried about Freya than Ena. The Oracle had been alive for a lot longer, and he could rely on her ability to control her magical powers. On the other hand, Freya was too young and inexperienced, therefore expecting her to hide her magic force wouldn't be fair.
The only way to control Freya's magic was to seal her powers. It took a while explaining it to her, but Adin finally convinced her to let him seal her powers and unleash it when it's needed.
Compared to Ena, Freya's magic looked fragile and little. But unlike Adin's, the problem wasn't with the quantity or quality of her magical energy. Every person's aura was discovered to be specific and one could understand the identity of a person by feeling their magic. He couldn't let anyone sense Freya's powers, especially the Grandwizards. That'd bring a lot of trouble afterward.
Those flames were the only clue he had. He didn't know where to start. He didn't have any idea about what he should do. Realizing the situation, Adin had to search the world to at least find something related to the flames. Being an adventurer would let him travel freely with the least problems.
Considering those advantages, Adin had decided to join an adventurer's guild to search for the flames easier. It seemed like the best decision he could've made.
Adin could always use his infinite army of demons and Infernal Ten to search the world completely for a trace of those four flames, but since he didn't know the meaning behind them, it'd be too reckless to arm an entire army for something he had no information about. Thus, the best choice was to use the adventurers.
Before joining the guild, Adin did research about the potential powerful adventurers. That girl Liora was one of the most talented adventurers according to her recent quest records. He thought that getting close to her would provide him a better situation in the guild.
Incidentally, Adin had come to enjoy this journey. Although he considered humanity a boring race with nothing special, trying to find the four flames to finally die sounded so exciting and interesting that he could bear with those people.
"All right. We agreed to meet here. What are they doing? I just asked them to do some makeup so people can't notice their identity. Women are too weird... and slow."
Standing in the sidewalk and leaning against a shop's wall, Adin waited for Ena and Freya to show up. He began hitting the ground repeatedly with his right foot while folding his arms across the chest.
Waiting... and waiting... and waiting... time passed like that for a while, but finally he could see two female figures coming to him.
One of them had dressed in white, looking young and attractive. Her long white hair matched with her full-length dazzlingly white garments. The cone-shaped, flower-patterned hat on her head implied that she's a wizard.
The other girl was wearing a very expensive-looking golden robe with red designs of dragons. She possessed shoulder-length blonde hair and shining yellow eyes. Her most outstanding characteristic was that precious gentle smile on her pure, innocent face.
"Hey, you two..." Adin lifted his head, as he turned his bored eyes to them, "Who the hell are you?"
