"My King, you look so bored today. Has anything happened? I can immediately provide whatever Your Majesty desires!"
The owner of these words was the 2nd Infernal of the Demon King's Army, Waphelia, who was meanwhile kneeling before the presence of her king. She appeared as a pure beauty and a cruel, heartless woman, having an absolute loyalty toward the Demon King.
"Oh, well..." Adin paused, "Yes, you're right. I am bored."
"Then, shall I prepare some fresh angel meat for Your Majesty? Those are always refreshing!"
"No, I've tried that taste so many times. It's too monotonous and boring."
"Ah, then, would Your Majesty prefer to perform some torture? We can—"
"No, no, no! I no longer get personal satisfaction from torturing those angels. Boring..."
"What about humans? They always come to good use my King. Would you prefer cutting off some fresh human skins? Or maybe burning them alive?"
"I've already Told you! That's become too tedious."
"I see, then shall I ready the preparations for a genocide? We can start from those northern orcs if Your Majesty wants?"
"Boring, it's too repetitive!"
"I understand now, so massacring and torturing no longer please Your Majesty. If so, then why not use the bodies of some females. I'm sure Your Majesty can pick up the right type."
"Ahh, that's the most boring thing out there."
"I comprehend your intentions now, my King! So you prefer young girls? All right, I will immediately provide some kid—"
"Eh? When did I say that? And no, that's boring too."
"I see, now I understand, so Your Majesty like men?"
"Huuuuh? No, boring... that's absolutely boring!"
"Replacing skulls with female brea—"
"Boring!"
"Cutting some male testicl—?"
"Boring!"
"Burying aliv—"
"Boring!"
"Guillo—"
"Boring!"
"ex—"
"Boring!"
"fu—"
"Boring!"
"p—"
"Boring!"
"A—"
"Boring! Boring! Boring! Boring! Boring! Boring! Boring! Boooooooooriiiiiiiiiiinnnnnng!"
Breath coming in gasps, Adin realized he'd spent a lot of energy on a mere conversation. When he once again became calm, Waphelia used her chance to speak:
"Then, if Your Majesty has an idea, we can go for that instead."
Adin hesitated, thinking whether he should tell her what he really wants or not.
"My idea? Well, recently..." he giggled, turning his eyes to the endless roof, "I want to die!"
Waphelia's frosty expression suddenly broke down as she lifted her head. Her eyes looked worried and distressful. It took her a little bit of time to realize the situation.
"...to die? You said?" she mumbled in a frightened voice. "Why?"
"Because I'm bored with this life. I just want to die. Nothing is interesting in this world for me, not anymore."
Waphelia's eyes no longer had strength and cruelty. Those were completely paralyzed by Adin's words.
She didn't know what to say. Her King intended to end his life. How could she not get stunned by hearing those words? But somehow she managed to control her emotions, choosing her next words to express in presence of the Demon King.
"Your Majesty, just to make sure, are you truly serious about that decision?"
"Yes, I am!"
Waphelia once again regained her impenetrable, cold impression and her strong, warrior-like voice.
"I sincerely apologize, my King. But..." she took a deep breath and again lifted her head, staring fiercely at Adin, "I can't allow that!"
It'd certainly be unacceptable for the servants and lower-ranked positions to order a higher position. The King would be considered as the highest rank in the land, and thus nobody had the place to reject his words. And for the Demon King position, no entity could ever dare to command him. Not just for his rank, but because of his great strength and unbelievable force.
However, what Waphelia had done was nothing but giving orders to the Demon King. It'd be shocking to hear that she, the most obedient person to the rules and the orders, would commit such an inappropriate move.
That'd be for when someone wasn't aware of Adin's intentions, of course.
If they knew that the Demon King was bored with his life, they could justify Waphelia's behavior. Regardless of one's position, it'd be much more unacceptable to ignore Adin's words and follow the orders. After all, allowing the Demon King to die would be the most unjustifiable action.
"My duty is to protect your highness," she reminded, "so I can't accept your wish, my King."
"I see," Adin sighed, looking disappointed.
Waphelia sharpened her senses since she'd become aware of Adin's desire to die. She couldn't let anyone use this chance to hurt him. Although she knew he wouldn't be hurt by any mortals, her worries didn't go away, making her extremely careful about Demon King's conditions.
The silent air between the servant and her king took time to break. Waphelia forgot why she'd come to visit her King in the first place. The sudden subject of Adin's desire for death made her forget everything. However, she came to remember what'd been reported to her by the demon soldiers in the east.
A large area, located at the east of Demon King's land, had been completely wiped out. The reports said that the earth was covered in pure darkness as if the whole land had been colored by pitch. The wipeout was so complete that only a black surface could be noticed in the area. Nothing else came into view.
Who could have been behind it? She was afraid of the potential powerful enemies who could be a danger to the Demon King, and someone who could've dealt so much damage would definitely be a dangerous enemy.
Waphelia had no answer to what had happened, at least before hearing her King's intentions. It wouldn't be difficult to figure out who could've been behind a disaster like that. Only one name was the cause for such disastrous, stunning happenings in the world: Adin the Immortal
That could ease her worries about the existence of a strong opponent, but simultaneously reminding her of Adin's commitment to kill himself. It'd already happened, and she wasn't there to help. She hadn't even noticed Adin's intentions before he told her about it.
"My King, the east border guards have reported a suspicious act of land destruc—"
"Yes, yes, yes... I already know." Adin interrupted.
"It was you, my King—right?" Waphelia asked, glaring at him.
Adin didn't look surprised. He expected nothing less from his 2nd Infernal.
"Yes, yes, you got me there!"
Adin left his glorious, demonic seat, and jumped down, keeping a chuckle on his face.
"I will go out now."
As Waphelia wanted to respond to Adin's sudden words, she realized he'd already disappeared. Did she also look boring in his sight?
The air around her no longer presented a martial vibe. Her worried gesture made her seem so defenseless and weak. The strong look in her eyes was gone now, leaving her vulnerable.
