She can't help but comment as he felt so comfortable in her room.
"You can go home. I hired people to help me." Yuyu said without looking at him and walking in a safe distance toward her desk.
"It's okay. I will stay here with you." he said in a friendly tone.
Yuyu smirked. Still, without looking at him, she reminded him,
"You hoped that we would never cross paths again. Haven't we cut ties already Mr. Ming? Keep your distance." She looked at the window outside and watched the sky turn dark.
She sensed his footsteps nearing him and she turned around in alarm.
Fear registered in her eyes and her heart started beating fast!
"Please don't come near me." Her voice shook. He stopped three steps from her but she still felt uneasy. She can feel all her senses trembling.
"Yuyu, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for the words I said. I'm sorry for hurting you." YaoFeng looked at her but she never raised her eyes on him. She had her chin up but her eyes never left the ground as she bit her lips.
"Are you wearing makeup?" YaoFeng blurted out.
Yuyu immediately looked at him with wide eyes and touched her face. She had forgotten to wash her face earlier and Diane said she would need a makeup remover!
She side stepped YaoFeng and wanted to check herself on the bathroom's mirror but YaoFeng lightly held her arms and she was rooted to where she's standing.
Her arms trembled uncontrollably and she tried to step back but she couldn't move her foot.
"Please. Move. Away." She looked at him uncertain of her words. Was she pleading or commanding him? She was so traumatized with his presence, her breathing hastened. What if he get's angry again? What if he pushed her and she hit her wound or head somewhere? Her face was horror struck when she thought of worse things that could happen and he will never get to see her children again!
Ming YaoFeng felt helpless with the way she reacted towards him.
Instead of letting go, he slowly embraced her and pushed her head on his chest while his other arm enclosed her waist.
Fear, anxiety, anger, and indifference covered Yuyu's heart and she stiffened in his embrace.
It was very uncomfortable. Her heart can no longer take the sudden surge of emotions as she felt dizzy and passed out.
YaoFeng felt her weight suddenly drop and he tried to carry her to the bed.
He pressed the button to call for help and a nurse came in.
"She suddenly passed out." He reported.
The nurse connected something on her hospital bracelet and the monitoring screen checked on her vitals. The nurse takes note of things on the screen without glancing at YaoFeng.
"Please wait here. I will call her attending doctor."
She immediately left.
---
"So please do not agitate her." the doctor explained.
"The patient may have experienced a traumatic incident and something provoked her. When she reached a stressful emotional state, her heart would not be able to take it and that caused her to faint." The doctor gestured to the nurse to redress the wound.
"How is her therapy with the psychiatrist?" the doctor inquired.
YaoFeng looked dull. The doctor realized that he did not have an answer. "You have to check with her doctor if there's anything you can do to help her."
"Follow her diet and don't give the patient too much sweet stuff. Until she finishes taking anticoagulants, she's not allowed to have blueberries." The doctor eyed him sternly as if he's spoiling his wife too much.
---
Yuyu woke up while the two people were talking and she suddenly felt guilty as she heard the doctor's lecture. She made a sound and movement to let them know she's awake.
The two men moved around to see her.
"Doctor," she tried to get up.
YaoFeng automatically assisted her and he let go the soonest he felt her getting stiff.
"Follow the hospital diet provided to you. Don't eat 'other' stuff!" He emphasized on the other.
"Yes doctor. I am now hungry, can I eat now?" she said eagerly. This time, she can eat on her bed alone. Perfect!
The doctor looked at his watch and nodded at the nurse.
"Your food will arrive soon. Get well soon so I will not see you again okay?" the doctor meant that he doesn't want her sick anymore.
Yuyu smiled at the doctor. "I also hope so, doctor."
---
YaoFeng prepared his dinner and ate at the little dining table facing Yuyu who's eating on her bed.
He was watching her eating while busily typing on her phone. He grabbed his phone and sent her a message.
"I'm sorry." He typed.
The sound beeped on Yuyu and she eyed him as he stared at her. She did not reply and continued on her phone. (She's browsing for basic make up with the quickest delivery so she can call Tania or her siblings).
"Yuyu, I'm sorry. Please let me take care of you." Her phone beeped again. She glared at him.
YaoFeng thought this was effective. He can tell her what he wants to say without agitating her physically.
When she did not reply, he typed a message again.
"If you don't reply, I will take it that you allow me to take care of you, alright?" he added a hug emoji and can't help but smile as he heard the beeping tone.
With a deathly stare, she immediately scoffed at him, "Mr. Ming. I don't know what made you change your mind in treating me like your wife, but we are divorced already so please, please stay away from me. I want to heal. I want to get better. I want to move on."
After saying that, she finished her meal and called for a nurse.
She whispered something to the nurse, that only the two of them could hear and they headed out of the room.
YaoFeng felt conflicted. Should he tell her? Is it the only way?
---
"Mrs. Ming wanted to call JiaJia," said the nurse to the other.
"Okay, wait, I have her number in my phone."
The second nurse showed the number and Yuyu made a phone call.
---
When Yuyu returned to the room, YaoFeng had already cleaned up.
Yuyu took her breast pump and went to the bathroom. Now, she has to hide when she does her thing because a man is sharing her room.
---
She went out to clean the things she used and placed them back on the rack. Yuyu went to her corner when her phone beeped.
YF: "Why are you still using my last name? Why are the children still using my last name?" This is a question YaoFeng also was curious about. She could have changed it when they arrived in London.
Yuyu was facing the window again so she would not see YaoFeng who was silently watching her. She has no problem replying to text or emails. She only felt pressured and anxious and fearful when her husband was within three feet near her or looking at her eyes.
Y: "It's troublesome. That's the only identification I had then, and my passport, the children's documents, it was a lot of work. But I will change our names once I get out of here."
Since Yuyu is responding, YaoFeng thought he can use this to make more conversation with her.
YF: "Why were you calling me previously?"
Yuyu racked her brain. When was that? She realized this probably was when she hacked his laptop? But she also tried calling him at the airport..
YaoFeng watched his wife's conflicted face from the window's reflection. She looked like she's recalling something. It took a while before he received a reply.
Y: "Which one is it?"
YF: "You called Assistant Xu, then my laptop black out."
YaoFeng could remember it all.
Y: "Ah. I want to ask if we can send our things home to your address."
YF: "How about the last time, when I answered your call."
Yuyu remembered this well. It was before they took the connecting flight. It was also the time he told her to stop pestering him. She looked at the window and smiled bitterly at the view outside. Maybe it's time for them to move on and discuss co-parenting.
Ming YaoFeng watched her bitter face at the reflection and thought she would no longer reply.
Y: "I almost borrowed your car to pick up the children at the airport, I was not able to prepare a car seat for the twins then," she felt her throat get lumpy with the emotions she felt as she typed. "But thankfully, we did not get to disturb you further. I shouldn't have bothered you then. Sorry about that."
There was a knock on the door and Yuyu left her phone at the table. YaoFeng did not reply as he watched the nurse coming in.
"Is it time already?" Yuyu walked back to the bed.
JiaJia smiled. "Not yet. My shift starts at ten and ends tomorrow, so I'm here already!"
"Did you bring it?" Yuyu remembered the call she made earlier.
The nurse pulled out something from her pocket, and handed it to Yuyu. The two of them went to the bathroom as they chatted.
"I don't really know how to use this." YaoFeng heard Yuyu's voice.
The nurse chuckled. "You are very innocent Mrs. Ming."
"Really! I didn't know this was necessary. But I'm learning! Thank you JiaJia."
Ming YaoFeng sat on the sofa and closed his eyes. What could those two do inside the bathroom that Yuyu hasn't done before? A lot of thoughts come to his mind and he cannot help but frown. During her previous time with the company, he warned her not to get too close to the secretaries. He even accused one of them as lesbian. Are they doing something inappropriate inside?
He looked at their phone conversation and pressed the bridge between his eyes. He focused on the messages instead of the voices.
'She's sorry for bothering him.' Yeah, because he did not listen when she called. He only told her to stop pestering her and stop using the children to bother him.
--
Yuyu freshened up and changed into a new set of hospital provided clothes. She almost forgot to prepare some personal clothes that she can wear during therapy.
She allowed nurse JiaJia to sit beside her on the bed as she made a quick message to Night.
"Please help Tania choose regular casual clothes for me. I am attending a five days conference. Low profile. Thanks. I'll arrange the pick-up. Just choose and pack."
After sending her message, she closed her eyes and rested for a bit.
Then, just like a quick nap, she heard JiaJia calling her softly.
"Mrs. Ming, it's time."
