The cold wind was no match to the new, beautiful building that had been built where the remains of Alex's old apartment once were. The "Alex Venium Apartments and Lofts" was clean and modern and usually only housed one Venium, but tonight, while that specific man was away from his apartment, his relatives had arrived.
Vilivia had jokingly introduced them to his apartment as the 'Chateau de Phyre', though it was only a one bedroom, one bathroom apartment. Argus, the tall and handsome older brother sat on the couch, his pregnant wife sitting beside only to lean against him.
"I am happy you made it here safely," Vilivia spoke softly to another redhead in the kitchen. And though they were both around 23 years old, this other woman was much shorter than her. She had a face that could potentially make magazines famous, but they were never allowed to do such things. It didn't help that this one's branding was the letter E right on her neck. She did her best to keep it covered with her hair, though. The woman, Starr Elenvir, smiled and quietly spoke, "I'm glad to finally see the States, too! We flew over so many gorgeous cities."
"Even in these circumstances, though?" V looked nervously down at her before putting a hand on Starr's arm. The two fell quiet for a moment, sadness washing over Vilivia's face. Starr looked momentarily from the kitchen to the couch where both Argus and his wife, Finalia, stared impatiently back. They both always looked so serious, confident, and powerful. Then again, they had to. "Hey now," Starr smiled lightly again at V, "Let's just hope this doesn't get out of hand."
"Knowing Phyre, though," Argus voice was as strong as his looks, but he also had a hint of anger. Maybe it was spite, instead. A brief pause left Vilivia wanting to counter any oncoming statement but he was quick to continue, "Everything he does always winds up making a show."
Vilivia angry passed by Vilivia and looked out of the kitchen, but Starr was quick to grab her hand and arm before she could step foot into the living room. V glared at her older brother, still, "At least he isn't here for what we originally assumed."
Argus scoffed at her remark, "Tch. Coming from the woman who disobeyed orders and flew out early to warn him. You know what brought him here?! And while it may not be revenge it-"
Vilivia suddenly became extremely light-headed, watching Argus talk and hearing him but not understanding a single word he was saying. Her vision began to blur before Starr finally took notice. Skyla's voice, of which she had only had a moment of began in her head, 'First of all...' V could then see her face, almost like she was in a dream state. Skyla was holding up fingers and arguing. Her vision blurred again and returned to what was actually happening. She grew nervous but Argus' voice became understandable again as he kept rambling on, "Also, you think that vile man would really just let us swoop in and take his daughter?"
Starr stepped in front of Vilivia, standing as if she were guarding her, "Argus! Quit earbashin'! Look at the state she is in, she needs to eat something." Vilivia pulled back to and looked at Starr painfully, "No. I think I need a break. I mean, I'll eat yeah but..." Again, she started feeling a bit dizzy as Starr called out her name. Vilivia looked to her brother, "I'm just going to wash my face. Then, we can talk and eat."
Vilivia made it to the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror, disassociating as she looked at herself. Studying her hair, her skin, her eyes. The cold water she then splashed on her face helped only a little but when she looked back to the mirror, her eyes had turned white. She held her mouth as she gasped in horror and pressed her back to the wall. Suddenly, she was back in the dream like state, seeing a family portrait with the man they called John. He was standing proudly beside a red haired woman, who had pale eyes that looked as if she had seen much anquish. In front of the two was two children, one who was clearly Skyla at a young, young age. The other was a taller, older boy, possibly a teenager? 'Why am I seeing this?' V's thoughts echoed before she heard Skyla's laughter, annoying V by the tone. The, she say enflamed fists, the loud crack of wood breaking, cloth tearing and fire filling her vision. Vilivia closed her eyes tight, trying to escape how bright the fire was but as soon as it appeared, it was gone. No noises, no laughter. "These aren't memories," Vilivia whispered quietly. She opened her eyes to look in the mirror and see they had returned to their bright, blue color, "This is right now. I know where I need to go."
